6-Weeks Pull Up Challenge

Yeah, I had to do 200 today and decided I skip the entire workout, LOL.
Tomorrow I'll go for a new record, will doing pull ups until my rectum prolapses.

Man. You make it hard on yourself. Just get this **** done! Do the work.

I thought really hard about doing some today...then I didn't. But if I'm on grandpa's schedule I get like 4 restarts, right?

Restarts are on you. If you restart, you prolong the agony. But if you do 2000 reps I'm 6 weeks, can anyone take that away from you, can they?

Pictures or it never happened

The memes you could make!

I did sets of 10 in between lift on my back and bicep workout today and finally pieced the last fe together right after lunch. It was a struggle today but got 100 in. I was wrong on the day..so today is actually day 5 and my total is now 450.

After doing some honest reflection, I've decided to take a seat on this one. I'm still in to cheer on and get motivation, but it's just not fitting in my current schedule. I'm still going to start all my back days with pullups and will post my progress for that. Good luck all!

Do what's good for you bro!!

Day 7 and I've come down with some sort of bug. Thankfully not a hairygrandpa raging diarrhea bug, just some sort of respiratory thing that's knocked me down a peg. 23 today, 7 day total of 291

I have no idea how my diarrhea bug ended up in your respiratory system, sorry bro!

:)

Going to the gym for shoulders this morning and shooting for 50 pull-ups while Im there...but Im sore as all get out so Im not sure if theyll happen. Will update later

Day 7 172 I'm slacking **** I can't do them throughout the day I have no pull up bar so the gym is the only place.

Im slacking today as well. Did shoulders and traps in the gym and started off strong with the pull ups...didnt last long. My back immediately told me it needed a break. So I stopped at 25 giving me a total of 475 on day 6. Oh well

I'm in the same boat. I do them during my rest for other lifts. Gives me about a 3 min break between tries and I get around 8-10 sets.

I also dropped all vertical pulls from my current routine to help.

Yeah I feel you and yeah it's good to call it quits before you really mess it up and can't do any on the following days... although for me it's my grip strength my forearms are taking a beating.

Yeah man I actually did the same woth dropping vertical pulldowns

Argh. You all are machines, damnit!

I just calculated how many I have to do today to take a day off tomorrow -and Sunday.... around 200 to keep up... Man, that is not funny!
No way man, you do everything the hardest way possible. Part of what makes you tough. Howeveer it would make a ton more sense to add 10 to your daily total every day for 20 days... way more doable and wont break you down like doing a massive amount at once.

Slacking??? At this rate you will be done with the 2000 in 4 weeks!!!!

Very smart, really with a program like this I would only do Dead lifts, Rear Delts and maybe curls on back day. 10 hard sets of Dead lifts then walk out feeling like a fukking stud!!!!

As for me I am not too sure how this is going to go. I got 22 yesterday before my elbow started feeling it enough that I stopped. That is one less than I made it Monday. I will see how tomorrow works out for me but if the pain shows up before I hit 22 I will go ahead and call it on this challenge. No reason to cause myself issues, especially while breaking back in.

The man needs to do pull ups, so he walks around work to find a bar. Then he gets sick and still bangs out 23. Heck yes.

Yeah, I have a lot of days like this. It is definitely easier when you can randomly do sets throughout the day. But I wonder if it will be as effective at creating change. i.e. - I can SAY I did 60 pull ups today, but it was all spaced out and I could never be able to do even 50 if I did all 10 sets back to back. Will the density create faster progress, or will the overall volume create faster progress?

Whatever you can do, just keep on plugging - in 6 weeks you will be much more capable.

Wimp. 475? pffft, I could do that in like, 1 hour.

A second person mentioning the forearm strength. I actually didn't expect that, even though it is logical. I am noticing my shoulders are really taking a beating. Rear delts, side delts, front delts - they are getting sore. I've known shoulders are a weak point for me, and I suspect that I either have a joint injury that I'm mistaking for muscle injury, or this will actually strengthen the joint/stability.

I'd rather see you drop back to 10 a day for a while and ease back into it than to see you throw in the towel. No reason for anyone to get hurt doing this, and the potential for injury is real (see above about my shoulders) - but you make the call. You may be surprised that dropping to 10 gives you progress and that's really what this is about.

Oh, and my goal is to do 10 sets of 8 today, so far I have 3 sets down. I took yesterday off because my shoulders hurt. They aren't 100% but given how much better they feel with just 1 day of rest I feel like it is muscle fatigue more than an actual joint injury. Gonna keep an eye on it.

Leg day. Did pull-ups between sets and got 84 again. I'm on my 8th day and my total sits at 462.

Day one I got 10 reps on my first set. Yesterday and today's first set were for 12. So I do think my performance is improving. It'd be great to be able to knock out 20 or more on my first set by the end of this challenge!

It's funny how a common move can illuminate some many different areas of "need". While I can definitely feel it in my shoulders and forearms, I feel it most in my lower lats. Around my 6th or 7th set it feels like somebody is jabbing me in the side as I reach the top position and hold. I've found that if I do a dead hang for just a few seconds after my last rep, I'm actually less sore when I come back for the next round. Don't know if that'll help anybody else, but thought I'd share.

I strongly agree with how it illuminates weaknesses. It's also another indicator of pushing your body to the limit which promotes gains I also have hopped on HMB

Still fighting this bug, but not willing to let it completely stop me. 3,3,2 today. Day 8 and 299. Had I known that earlier I would have struggled for 2 more, just to be over 300.

Day 11 - 81 reps. I tried for 10 sets of 8, got 6 sets of 8 with the last two sets being 7 + 1 after a pause. Then I hit a workout for 6 additional sets back to back and got just 25 reps.

81 + 371 = 452 total.

Yup. Puts me on pace for an 8 week challenge! But if you do it in 4 weeks and I did it in 8, we average out to 6 - so get to it!

Knocked out 50 today during my first REAL leg day in quite a while. Day 7 total:525.

Day 12 for me. Got another 81 reps. Took me 5 sets of 8 randomly throughout the day and then 10 sets in a workout. Brings my total to 533.

Puts my 12 days just ahead of Firetitan's 7 days. Oh, I feel proud.

But ahead!!! So I like it. And I screwed up my schedule. Went home this morning after night shift on the ambulance...did legs and then ran errands all day....until 10 minutes after 6 tonight when the medic supervisor called wanting to know where I was. Forgot I was working tonight!! So ive had 2 hours of sleep since 0630 Thursday morning. Yay

Day 1 : 90
Day 5 : 150 (Took me 90min to "pull" ;) it off)

Had 3 days off between, was raining, no gym.

Nice, maybe you will sleep all day tomorrow too and I will inch even closer to a real lead.

240 reps total? In 2 days of work, geez. I still suck at pull ups.

I was shooting for 200 reps today...but, nah. After 150 -and all other exercises, I really couldn't do it. I was finished.
Have no "thingy" at home to do pull ups on off days. I looked everywhere.

You got a basement? Open stairs? Go under the stairs and reach up and grab the top stair?

Hm.... I have a basement, where I keep the corpses -but it creeps me out.
:)

Nah, no basement or stairs... nothing to cling on to.

I'm slacking. Like bad. I don't know what I was at but I busted out an even 100 through the day.

Also, I'm gonna terrorize one unlucky person for a minute or two and then go to bed.

Edit: FireTitan does anyone you know of have any androcrine stuffed away they would sell? This test/tren is wet but its still fccking with some joints.

I dont myself...wish I could help. Had someone else ask me if I had a stash of dermacrine. I do miss my androcrine.

Zero pullups yesterday, and pretty sure it'll be zero today. This bug may have just turned this into a 10 week challenge for me.

I like your attitude in this challenge a lot SFreed. I hope you feel better quick. Keep in mind that as you get better and better you will crank these out fast hopefully by week 5-6. Just about at the end of week 2 for me. I am seeing progress in my pull ups even though I am doing ten sets essentially every day.

Day 1 : 90
Day 5 : 150
Day 6 : 50

How is the back feeling?

As for me, day 13, 85 reps, total of 618 reps.

I got about 7 sets of 8 throughout the day, then did 5 sets in a workout to bring the total to 85.

I am hoping that in another week I can get a solid 10 sets of 8 or better.

I think I am going to rest today, but...I kind of don't want to. I feel like my upper body is growing even with this volume/frequency.

I finally made it into the gym today, with less than stellar results. Which wasn't a complete shock, since I've pretty much worked and slept for the last few days. Mixed in with my HST workout I got 3/3/3/2/2 wide grip. You're right HIT4ME, I'm a complete slacker. I did decide that I'm going backpacking anyway. 27 miles in basically 2 days in the Ozark mountains should be some decent cardio.

Nothing for me this weekend...I over booked my work schedule and ended up with 3 hours of sleep between 0630 Thursday morning and 0700 Saturday morning. Then was in a wedding Saturday afternoon and back on the ambulance tonight. Im planning on 500 next week minimum!

LMAO - keep in mind I told you that you were a slacker directly after telling you how I was making excuses and not getting it done! There was some heavy sarcasm involved. Keep plugging man. You found a bar at work, you have been sick, you will come back and turn it around.
