6 Week Fat Loss Challenge

I'm not even started yet, and am at 214. I have to up the calories. I don't want to make this look too easy. :P

Edit: Eating some rolled oats w/ nutty peanut butter, protein, almonds, cinnamon, honey, and a little ALA to spice it up.

I'm pretty sure I posted this but here it goes. I will be logging in my own thread but updating here.

Make it look easy brother! Show us how it is done - you are part of the river now. If you move forward, you pull us all with you. The easier you make it look, the more we will all rush in behind you. Keep up the hard work!

I don't want to be a complete jerk, or act superior to anyone, because I'm not and I'm way over the top right now because I'm just sick of fighting with myself over this last 20 pounds. But I've learned some things about my psychology and what allowed me to get from 250 to 175. The biggest thing is, we ALL lie to ourselves. There are so many lies. A lot of the lies have good intent, but they sabotage our success. Be honest about what you want, and if you want it now, and how bad you want it. I have gone out to lunch with 2-3 friends at a time and sat at the table with a glass of diet coke while they chowed down on all kinds of food. At first people feel uncomfortable, but they get over it easily if you are comfortable with it. I just let them know it is a temporary thing for myself

Thanks brother!
Got my paddle in hand. :)

Wow. Kinda don't of a long response to a simple statement about where I was headed. Didn't realize that meant I was lying to myself.

Lol, you know me. Brevity isn't my thing. And I who knows what connections my brain will make at this point. Im lucky to be awake haha.

I'm sorry to single you out...you know it wasn't personal brother.

Also, half the response was on your side ...fried chicken and biscuits, waffles, whatever = get in my belly.

Ahahahaaha.....

"that escalated quickly".

Yes, I communicated poorly and SFreed and I discussed it and it is old news. It wasn't meant to be directed at him solely and came out wrong. We've discussed it, it is old news. I have a lot of respect for everyone doing this and he is no exception. Ive learned a lot from everyone here and I just want to help get people excited to see everyone getting results and showing us what they've got.

I have been trying to incorporate a lot of cardio, which I don't normally do. I have been keeping intensity low and going for long periods. I have spent over 4 hours on the stationary bike in the past 2 days and I will be hitting the weights tonight.

Somehow, despite the work, I've gained 2 pounds since my new low on Monday, but I had a refeed in there and Im sure most of that is water in some form.

I hope everyone else is killing it and taking the war to their mid sections!

You and SFreed are fricken rockstars man!! Yall are obviously grown men and I respect the both of you even more.

Yep, misunderstanding between two carb starved, overworked individuals. Nothing to see now.
And HIT4ME, the only thing I've had so far today is unsweetened ice tea (and zero exercise). However, I foresee a 2500 cal meal in my immediate future!

I think we can all agree that we're sort of terrible when we are on low carbs. Not looking forward to it in a few weeks.

Impressed, that is a hard run. I couldn't run 2 miles I bet. You ran 29 laps!? What is that software you are using? That will definitely burn some fat.

Nice work brother! Is that your plan? IF? If that works for you, I have thought about converting to that. I actually try to put most of my PSMF (or at least half) at night because that is when I tend to eat and over eat. IF would probably be a good plan for me.

Hope your work schedule is getting lighter.

And yes, there's gonna be some grumpiness in this thread since we are all limiting food and/or exercising intensely to create a large deficit.

Guys, just logged my last Halodrol workout on my log, and, in order to treat myself (actually requested by the shift) I made Bratwurst with peppers and onions and Bavarian style sauerkraut. Dam they were devine.

Not really my plan, just first travel day and knew there would be a big family meal tonight. Plus, the only thing I've done all day is drive, stand and sit. I certainly haven't needed much fuel!

Papa Murphys on the smoker is the best pizza ever.

There are many forms of intermittent fasting, and honestly, as someone who has been intermittent fasting in just about every IF scheme there is (5/2, 8/16, 9/15, 12/12, Pulse Feast), I think it's greatest advantage is hunger control over any of the other purported benefits (insulin sensitivity, for example). The type of IF I will be doing for the weight loss challenge will probably be the Pulse Feast style. One big meal (controlled calories) and that's it. I have a tendency to want to eat when I start eating food, so if I avoid eating all day then eat all my food at once, I stick to my calorie deficit and I do not get cravings all day. People can say whatever they want about catabolism or whatever, but I think muscle loss is highly overblown on these boards (or the internet in general). If you're at the top of your genetic ceiling and super low BF %, I can see it, but for mere mortals like me that stay between 12-15% year round, it's be fine.

Yea IF is awesome. I personally follow a 20 hours fast/4 hour feeding window(6-10pm) schedule. It's definitely not for everyone but, I love it.

IF is mostly a hunger control/convenience diet for me. I don't like to make claims that it is some super fat loss diet (because I think statements like that are too general). I love IF for my schedule/lifestyle

Agreed, personally I use it when I'm bulking also. I think for myself it's just a way to control my large appetite.

Yeah. It's sad, but in an 8 hour IF window, I can chow down on ~3000 calories (my maintenance) of bro foods (chicken, rice, broccoli). I'm a hungry person...

I am all about Portion Control ,less Calories and not eating after 2100..

Man, it always takes me extra long to figure out what time it is when people use military time. You think I'd have learned considering I work at a veteran's hospital.

FWIW, I do like eating right before I go to sleep (but not too heavy). I feel it gives me more restful sleep, especially when cutting.

I just subtract 12.

Today's post workout weigh in is at 212.5

It is great to have different strategies available to fit into your own style. 90% of the battle is finding something that works for you and the way you live. And I agree 100% - people worry too much about muscle loss. And someone who is 20% bodyfat or more isn't the same as someone who is 10%. Too many people are over 20% bodyfat and try to act like they have to conserve as much muscle as possible when they really need to be destroying fat as much as possible and accept that they will sacrifice just a little muscle in the process (which can be rebuilt later). Great post.

Sorry guys i gained 7 lbs too much pizza and donuts

Thanks for making it harder on everyone, my touched friend.

Another key to dieting, and the key that I am worst at. I am an on or off kinda guy. All or nothing. Once I start eating, the only way to shut it off is to run out of food. haha. Burning 1000 calories on a run alone will definitely cut you up if you are eating 2100 calories/day or less. Great work brother.

Congrats on the new low weight! How is the FD2 working out for you? So many people on here have said it's the #1 supplement of 2016, and I know others have tried it and said it was worthless. Too soon to tell? Or can you see it doing something yet?
SFreed , I crumbled last night. I really hit a wall with my energy. After doing 4+ hours of cardio on Tuesday and Wed. morning, I couldn't even finish my weight workout last night, and I came home ready to pass out and decided to eat out. Got some barbeque chicken, 4 fried mozz. sticks, and a few onion rings. Probably 1000-1500 calories. I paid for it on the scale this morning, I gotta get back on track now. I don't want to let everyone else down. I appreciate all the people who are in on this and I hope this motivates you all as much as you all motivate me.

I'm actually getting MAD at my fat. I've got this last 15-20 and it actually is starting to feel like a war between me and this spare tire. Or maybe I'm just pissy in general right now, because of no food, too much boring cardio, and no sleep this week.

HIT4ME, You have accomplished a lot mentally and physically. What you are doing most guys on this Site cannot do,and I am one of those guys. I myself fall off sometimes because I'm human, at the end of the day I like to eat food. Brother you're Really doing Good.. Its not about perfection it's about progress.

Thank you sir! I really appreciate the compliment and faith. And yes, I have made progress and it is just about moving closer and closer. And we all fall off because we are all human and food is just so dang delicious. Especially junk food. I just love it. I associate so many good things to it. It's awesome.

But part of what drives me is - I have done LESS than what a lot of people on this board have done. I probably have one of the worst physiques on here in many cases and I'm a pretty small guy and everyone here has supported and pushed me and made me better at this. And my true mentality is really more along the lines of - "If you don't think you can do it, look at me. I'm no different than you, and probably actually not as good at this as many of you, and even I can do it."

And it really is all about mentality and practicing having the right mentality and building the right habits. Everyone on here is capable and I hope to give back what I received. The only thing special about me is I have the guys on this board helping me to get back up and keep trying after I've fallen down and could say, "Eh, I blew it, just give up...back to eating Chinese food and Zebra Cakes."

Im still tweaking the diet a bit. My problem is, I don't think I'm eating enough but as stated I have room to give in the body fat area. :)

Great job!!

I have to give FD2 more time. Only second day on PCT.

I am liking the synergy of all the supps though. I know Letrone will take care of my E2. Dropped from 92.7 to 50 in less than 30 days. Relieved.

Rebirth is going to help me along nicely with the rest I believe. Viron and Test1fy will be a great base. Considering additional test booster that won't suppress. I have one in mind. Sustain Alpha (BPS)

Maybe introduce it in week 4-8 with Virtus and Invictus.

We will see. Ordering a second Rebirth from NV when they can get back with me on the site hiccup last evening.

Also will be taking IM B12 once per week to boost platelets to come back around.

The worries of muscular catabolism are unfounded and it has been proven over and over in studies. The first 30-36 hours of fasting the body increases metabolism, so you have more energy to hunt, or scavenge for food. It also protects muscle during this time so that you are strong for the hunt. This results in increased fat loss during the fast without fear of muscular catabolism.

As long as the body is getting enough protein when fed the nitrogen retention does not take a major hit. This maintains size.

What is lacking in true IF is MPS stimulation. To increase MPS regularly you need to spike amino acid levels throughout the day. This does not happen with fasting so there are less opportunities for growth even when the same macros are met. It is simply a matter of timing, I like the 8/16 pattern modified for extra growth. If you want extra growth you would want to bump the aminos every 2-3 hours. This is the way to use a modified IF protocol that allows for the same level of appetite control while still capitalizing on the fact that MPS is key to muscle growth.

IF is mostly a hunger control/convenience diet for me. I don't like to make claims that it is some super fat loss diet (because I think statements like that are too general). I love IF for my schedule/lifestyle
This is the methodology to have, IF is a Lifestyle diet. It is great and you can get some awesome results from it. Especially since it is easy to follow once your circadian rhythms adjust to the new feeding schedule.

I am all about Portion Control ,less Calories and not eating after 2100..
That is a tried and true proven way to get the job done also.

So then it is 1188 hours? I kid I kid!

Muscle loss on IF is not a guarantee, on the diet you are doing... yeah, you are going to lose some muscle mass. It will more than likely rebound quickly when you begin eating but your fat is going to be waiting to jumpstart its safety net after the calories go back up as well. After all it now realizes famine is a reality because you forced yourself into it. The initial survival mode will try to store fats. So you have to keep that in a balance and reverse diet out of it correctly. Keep that in mind.

Secondly and I wasn't going to mention it yesterday when I saw the 4 hour LISS session you talked about but it is no wonder you hit a wall. The LAST thing you want to be doing in the state you are in is hours of steady state cardio. You would do better to do a few HIIT sessions with a little bit of aminos before or during. Putting yourself into hours of a catabolic situation while already fasting is going to actually stimulate more catabolism of muscular tissue because you are tipping everything to catabolism and keeping it there for hours. Just my opinion Brother but their are ways to modify the fast with aminos while not affecting the circadian rhythms for your meals that way you don't deal with a ton of hunger. Think nutrient timing.

I don't understand a word you just said.... :)
Haha, that was from an old song if you didn't actually know. LOL
