2010 College Football Season

Then, we tried to get into the Big 10 and was denied.

Wait... what? The Big Ten invited ND to join in 1994 and 1999, and the door was open again in 2003 and 2010.

Btw BH, I'm surprised this play wasn't mentioned earlier. So, that final Michigan drive shouldn't have been needed... right? :wink1:

I was talking about longer ago than the 90s. And that guy oughtta get beat up and down the field so bad that Touchdown Jesus waves his hands as in to say "enough". I saw that idiot. And yes, we were lucky. I'd bench him.

Saban benched his freshman wide receiver, Norwood, for needlessly diving into the end zone on the first TD against PSU. As soon as I saw it, I stopped my celebration, looked at my buddies, and said, "Oooooh. He's gonna regret that."

That's why I've always liked Nick Satan.. He was the same way up @ Mich State..

I stopped reading after that word... so that I could hurry up and post this video for you to appreciate:

Either the numbers arent real or the dude has been riding juice for a long long time. You should know those gains cant be had naturally, I dont care who you are. 650 squat as a sophomore? Nigga please.

Have you seen Boise St play? I've never seen so many white guys on the field at one time. Did I mention to you guys my disdain for fuc_ing Boise St and that blue eye sore they play football on?

What I was saying is academics and graduation rates are a thing of the past save to keep players on the field.

Wrong. We are an independent, because that was voted majority by all when we became independent. Then, we tried to get into the Big 10 and was denied. Now people hate us because we are happy with our independence thus far. Get used to it, its a current trend. BYU....who's next? Hell, there might even end up being a conference called "Independent".

It wont last past the next round of conference realignment, which is coming sooner than a lot of people think. Want to know the truth? Know how everyone hates Boise St? They are overhyped, talked about constantly, and just annoying in every way? Thats you, just you have a bunch of history of being annoying to go with it.

So my buddy and I drowned our sorrows until WELL after the PSU/Bama game

The shots began at halftime...

Rubberring,

All that stands between us and and a top ten, undefeated showdown are two pussies (Georgia and Duke).

Btw, I'm a little surprised Georgia is favored by 2.5.

I hope Petrino uses that as epic motivation to encourage Mallett to pass for 450 yards (401 last weekend). None of Georgia's tiny corners will be able to cover Greg Childs (or any other of our freakish group of WR's). I guarantee the playbook hasn't even made it passed page 1 (the real slicing and dicing has been saved for the SEC).

Why can't there be any Bull Dog's around for me to insult this week?

Any Iowa fans in here? I go to the other university in the state and I am happy to say we got crushed by Iowa last weekend. It will be interesting to see Iowa win the Big Ten this year :D

3 games - 1 J-Rod

I went to:
LSU-UNC
VT-Boise
The U-OSU

All 3 ACC teams lost. LOL

I've got a lot of pics I need to DL from my camera. I will post some later. Will also post my experiences - esp at OSU.

Gotta go lift - I'm gettin' soft with all this vacationing the last 3 weeks.

Damn, you made all those games?? Nice trip!!

We have UMASS this weekend. I'm hoping We can get an early lead & then RRod throws in 2nd string qb, Devin Gardner. He's another talent ready to start.

IS TIM TEBOW THE GREATEST MARKETING MACHINE EVER??

Sure I idolized the guy, but this is truly incredible....

Excerpt from The Wall Street Journal, New York Sept 10:

The virgin preacher quarterback is the official face of Jockey underwear. He's a cover boy for EA Sports video games. The first limited-edition release of his own line of Nike shoes sold out earlier this month in five minutes in the middle of the night. His new No. 15 Denver Broncos jersey is the biggest seller in the National Football League, bigger than Peyton Manning, bigger than Drew Brees, bigger than Tom Brady.

And Tim Tebow is a backup.

Yet companies that do surveys that measure the marketability of celebrities and athletes say the former Florida Gator football folk hero is more known, more appealing and more of a trendsetter in the eyes of the public than most of the starting quarterbacks in the NFL and the stars in other sports. E-Poll Market research calls him the third-most influential athlete in America.

In the history of sports marketing — the business of turning success in stadiums into the ability to pitch products outside of them — has there ever been anything like 23-year-old Timothy Richard Tebow?

"Entirely unprecedented," said Dan Shanoff, the Sporting News blogger who covers the Tebow phenomenon at timteblog.com. "I think it's arguable he is already the most popular — and thus the most marketable — player in the NFL."

"Tim Tebow," said Rich Thomaselli, the sports business reporter for Advertising Age, "is the greatest thing to come to the NFL since they moved the goal posts to the back of the end zone." That happened in 1974.

Show more pictures of TR's Oline. Also, I dont think he can count as high as 6.

Also, SoCar-Auburn will probably be a 4-0 game as well.

We did. It's the rest of the country that can't get enough.
Christians vs Criminals

No you didnt.

I hope that wasn't a subtle attempt to downplay the fact that the majority of Richardson's and Ingram's yards come after first contact. Bama's o-line is beastly and beyond disciplined, but these two guys are flat-out exceptional at the RB position.

That is a quote from the article linked above by bikeswimlive. WOW! Everyone knows the SEC has a dubious reputation when it comes to the lack of "emphasis" on academics but that is shocking even knowing that. Lucy we do still have some encouraging news for those us who are still naive idealists.

Miami under Randy Shannon has among the highest graduation rates in the country and EVERY senior on last years team got a degree. :clap2:

Also during Senator Tressel's 10 year regime at Ohio State 125 players have received degrees. :clap2:
So to recap 12.5 diplomas per year at Ohio State under Tressel and 4.5 arrests per year under Urban Liar at Florida.

Im not saying this as any kind of excuse but I think Id be more likely to get in trouble in Florida than in Ohio. If anyone wants to change my opinion on the party scene in Ohio they can put me up for a place to stay

In fairness there have been a few arrests at OSU and I have no idea what the grad rates at Florida are. I used to drive to Columbus every weekend when I was college age because there were always so many parties, OSU has over 60,000 students and plenty of trouble is there to be had. We definitely don't have Florida's weather or beaches though.

Yeah, we used to talk a lot about graduation rates (pre-2006) too :icon16:

Spoken like a true SEC fans it's kind of hard for you guys to talk about players actually going to class. :buttkick:
OSU doesn't have to take a backseat to any school in any state when it comes to beautiful young ladies and I find it amusing that people in this thread think so.

From SPORTSPROBE (re "Graduation Rates and College Sports")...

Citing the "graduation rate" of athletes of a major college sports program has become more and more a statistic of little economic or social significance. Because many of today's elite college programs lose the majority of their best athletes to professional sports prior to that athlete earning enough credits to graduate - and thus impacting negatively on that program's "graduation rate" - it can be correctly inferred that those elite programs with the lowest "graduation rate" have a correspondingly better collegiate sports record.

Translation: High Graduation Rates mean You Suck :clap2:

Ohio State has played in more BCS bowls than any other school with a record of 5-3 and has annually finished top 10 under Tressel while graduating all those kids. Bottom line like my dad used to always say "excuses are the foundation that a house of failure is built upon" ...such wisdom.

Again I say spoken like a true SEC fan, kind of hard to graduate from prison.

Come on BN - I know you get my point. Citing graduation rates is so '70's. Gators lost 9 in last years draft alone (compared to Bucks 4) - kind of hurts "graduation rates"

BTW, Our only felon is the quarterback for Auburn. :jester:

While I do see your point the NFL is littered with Buckeyes as well, for whatever reason we get guys like James Laurinaitis and Malcolm Jenkins and Heyward this year to come back for their senior season even though they were top ten draft picks after their junior season. Why do you suppose that is?

Not true. Miami OH is supposed to own the state of Ohio. Besides, most northern chicks are skanks.

Miami of Ohio? :261: What the hell do you know about the north? oh yeah you supposedly spent a year in Indiana so clearly you're an authority. There are assuredly "skanks" in the north but no more so than the south. Give me a break :bryce:

Dude, am I missing something here? Where are you getting your info? This is the most recent data I can find on graduation rates exclusive to football, and by my count there are 10 SEC teams ranked higher than OSU, and Arkansas was tied:

Wow, that's an eye opener.

Should also be noted that Penn State is #9, a stat I'm sure has not fluctuated much in the Paterno era.

Hats off to JoePa

I saw something on The Big Ten Network where it stated Tressel has graduated 125 players in his tenure. OSU has never had the reputation as being a top academic institution even among other Big Ten schools and if you read my quote above has always had the rep as being a party school. I did read a report online that had the Big Ten conference ranked ahead of most, but it was by conference and was not broken down by individual schools and to be honest included all major sports not just football. The same report actually had the Big 12 lower than the SEC but it didn't really serve my purposes to state that. I actually clearly stated I had no idea what the actual grad rates were for Florida(see above quote), as usual I was poking fun at my favorite SEC fans here in the thread.

Well more sh!tty special teams play today including a blocked field goal and a 99 yard kickoff return for a touchdown that was nullified by a penalty. We won easily today but I'm convinced that special teams will cost us a game somewhere down the line. You cannot be that poor in any phase of the game and compete for a championship.

Congrats on the win... and don't take this as a personal shot... but if Arky wants to keep from being embarrassed next week, they'll need to do A LOT better than that. No way Georgia should've been in that game in the 4th quarter. And as awesome as Mallett is, the Hogs better find themselves a ground game in the next seven days. Being completely one-dimensional ain't gonna cut it against better SEC defenses.

That being said, if Arkansas more than stands a chance against Alabama. The Razorback defense is better than last year, and Bama's D is young. The Tide corners are gonna have to play a helluva game in a hostile environment, and get away from their current "bend, don't break" mentality.

It's on, bsw!!!

Go Hogs! ROLL TIDE!!!

Oh, I am in total agreement here. The o-line can pass protect extremely well, but continues to find trouble opening holes for our backs. I don't expect us to ever have a dominant running game. All we need from them is minor production because we can stretch the field in so many ways it is ridiculous.

I was literally disgusted when Georgia crawled back into that game. Arkansas has a tendency to take their foot off of the gas when they think the game is in hand. It happens every year. I also think that mental aspect/attitude of "Here we go again" creeps up. They have to know they have turned the corner with the level of talent. Now believe it and continue to prove it to take the next step.

However, if Georgia didn't connect on two deep bombs (which hadn't been available all game), it never would have been close. I'm convinced the D is for real now.

I can say that this state is AMPED for next Saturday. It is going to be wild in Fayetteville. I know your Saban is bringing a mature and composed team to Arkansas, but I am convinced it will be competitive (unlike last year).

I think Petrino will have them ready to play (and I can guarantee Greg Childs won't be that quiet next Saturday).

PS - I have tickets.
