2009 College Football Season

So I have a severe case of priapism waiting for this Saturday's game. I haven't been this pumped to watch a national championship game in a long time.



To Bucknuts,
Would you really want to see your Buckeyes get embarrassed in a NCG again? My angst towards tOSU stems from my entire family and friends from Ohio telling me on a weekly basis how unstoppable the Bucks are. I had a great love for the team until I moved and had to listen to it as I developed an objective view of the Big Ten. So perhaps I do have a negative view. It's kind of like how you would view an ex-wife who betrayed you...many many times.
 
So, Bowden's going to announce his retirement tomorrow. It's definitely time.

Anyone else get the feeling he'll pull a Bear Bryant and pass away within a year from now? He just strikes me as a guy who needs to be coaching (or at least wear the title of HC) to keep his ticker goin'. Not trying to sound morbid, I just get that impression.

Yes, yes, yes! I have stated and will continue to state I would not rather that we didn't play in those NC games just to avoid the losses. You can't win a NC if you aren't in the game. We have played in 3 and we won 1. Before then it had been 30 years since our last NC. I am in favor of Ohio State scheduling more difficult teams out of conference as well and if you lose you know you're not good enough to play for a NC game. I'm not sure I follow your reasoning but it's cool if you want to hate Ohio State I get a lot of that on here I'm used to it.

If it's any consolation, I hate Georgia, Tennessee, and Miami WAY more than Ohio State, haha. :boobies:

It's all in good fun, though. We give the Big 10 a hard time, but I think we all enjoy the smack talk along the way.

It is not that I hate Ohio State. If I had stayed in Ohio when I was younger I would have went to school there more than likely. Like I said earlier, it is my friends and family back home that kind of make me cringe. I have a hard time, like you I'm sure, understanding the wealth of offensive talent they have that is only able to muster the bare minimum. I feel the same about my Razorback defense if it is consolation. Maybe we could combine your Buckeye defense with my Razorback offense and we would definitely have a national champion team.

It was good hope you had agood one as well.
I don't expect anybody who's not a Buckeye to like my Buckeyes, and like you said it's fun to talk smack, how boring would this thread be if we all rooted for the same team?

Yeah I think we need an offensive game plan from this century too but The Senator is who he is and so far it's worked out ok. It could be worse we could go back to the John Cooper era where we had an NFL team on the field and lost to Michigan every year.

Samantha Grosse 3/11/87 - 11/30/09

Dear Fellows,

My beloved daughter Samantha passed away on Monday. She had come home from UF for Thanksgiving and had to be hospitalized for a cystic fibrosis lung infection. The bacteria, which turned out to be MRSA quickly invaded other organs of her body and could not be stopped. She was only 22.

She was a great kid and was always happy despite the realities of her disease. Since her passing there have been over 1,500 messages left on her facebook, attesting to the attractiveness of her bright spirit.

She was a courageous and beautiful kid and I was honored and proud to be her Dad.
It was a pleasure being here this year but I must be signing off now as my grief is too overwhelming to finish the season.

You may not log on to see this but I am truly sorry for your loss and will keep you and your family in my prayers. I had a very close friend pass away recently from somewhat of the same type infection.

Obviously there isn't much anyone can say to relieve your grief, as a father of 2 beautiful daughters of my own I can only imagine how distraught you are right now. You will be in my prayers bro, May God bless you and your family and comfort you in this time of grief.

Jeff, I can't possibly imagine what you and you're family are going through right now... but you'll be in my prayers, buddy. Please take care of yourself, and seek the help of others when you can muster up the strength. Your daughter's beautiful soul is a testament to yours.
 
Sorry for your loss, Jeff. My wife's older sister died from CF, so I know what a long battle and terrible disease it is. I am extremely sorry.

I would love to know what is going to happen in tonight's Civil War. I have seen Oregon play a few times this year and I haven't watched Oregon State once. So I have no clue what to expect. Predictions?

I am pulling for Oregon State, selfishly because I feel we match up better with them. Those faster spread type of teams always give us problems.

Mostly good guys on AM in my estimation OG, after reading your post about Samantha I honestly thought to myself suddenly I don't give a rat's ass about college footbal! put things in perspective really quick for me.

I am leaning towards your gators this saturday I think Bama has the better defense but Tebow is a difference maker on offense that Bama lacks. It should be a good slugfest either way.

Oregon all the way baby. This game is gonna be EPIC. Rose bowl on the line. These teams are #1 and #2 in many different stats in the Pac-10. I'm a UofO alum though, so I bleed green and yellow. You know Pryor almost went here instead of being a Buckeye?

That video...:lmao: that is truly terrible. I love how crazy and passionate Oregon fans are though, the atmosphere in that stadium is wild. That's what college football is all about.

I wouldnt go that far but theres nothing anyone here can say that will make anything better for you. We collectively feel awful for you but at the same time, its you alone that has to deal with it. It ****ing sucks man. Theres nicer ways of putting it but sometimes, these things just happen. Theres no discernible rhyme or reason. Dont look for one. I personally believe there is a God but the way the bible was written, not all events are made by him though he can change all. All we can do is ask for his favor. I wont pretend to imagine what youre dealing with. All I can tell you is look it in the face, and dont put off dealing with it. The sooner you have closure, the sooner you can start celebrating her life instead of mourning it. Duration of life is highly overrated as we all die, and as long as it was a good one with good times, thats more than many can say. At least your gators were winning NCs right? Im sure you were a good dad, despite some bad habits you taught her like...gator chomping...and take comfort in that. Robert Frost said, "In three words I can sum up everything I've learned about life: it goes on." You need to go on, but that doesnt mean forget. Never forget. But like most people, she would want you to live on and be happy. Take enough you time, but at some point, no matter how much you hate your life, you need to get back to it, or else you will hate yourself for however long you live.

That said, Oregon has nothing on LSU or Texas A&M.

That's a little deceptive. Those teams are all from the Pac-10, and none of them are in the top 6 now. Don't get me wrong, I'm a Cal fan... but they don't exactly play defense out here on the west coast. LSU's offense is nothing to write home about, but I know that Oregon averages giving up almost 24 points per game... and there's no way in hell the Ducks score 24+ on LSU's defense.

Just my opinion.

That being said, I hope Oregon puts up 50 on the Buckeyes next month! :lol:

Clemson exacts revenge on GaTech. Paul Johnson kicks to CJ Spiller.

The Huskers and that big Dtackle rough up Colt McCoy and beat the Horns in a low scoring game.

As a Christian I admire his stand on subjects like abstinence and missionary work and his open, unashamed faith in Christ. All that said he has a some very douchebagish(is that a word?) characteristics with all the in your face rah-rah theatrics coupled with all the ridiculous hype and you see why he is the object of a lot of people's scorn. So it's ok Jim to admire his work off the field and despise his work on it.

They're learning the hard way why playing defense is crucial to winning championships. Every once in a while, everything goes wrong on offense and the elements (in this case, the weather) are against scoring points.

Then again... maybe they'll just run a few more kickoffs back. :lol:
 
Pitt and Cincy are just trading INTs now. Five of them in this game through three quarters. Pike is 11 of 33 with 3 picks, and looks completely lost.

Wait... Touchdown Pitt. 14-point lead.
