A LITTLE EXPLANATION NOW – STUBBORN FAT PART II Invalid Link Removed

* You’ve already heard it before Invalid Link Removed

* You got to eat every so often or else your metabolism shuts down and you end up drowning in catabolism Invalid Link Removed= :nono: fat burning, Invalid Link Removed muscle burning

* Well, yes, ONLY PARTIALLY TRUE, but STOP and :think: about it for a moment...

1st:STUBBORN FAT called STUBBORN for a reason. The body WANTS to hold on to it AT ALL COSTS.

2nd: if you feed your body constantly, (small or big meals), you are giving it NO STIMULUS to burn any fat, let alone stubborn fat.

* You may say, but if I starve myself (like I did for the past two days, I had 2 rather intense workouts 4 hrs after my last meal, practically running on empty + stimulants + AP), I will lose my muscle :rant:

* Well, it always used to strike me before, when I was in much better fed state than this last two workouts, how come I’m running flat, out of energy, hypo when I’m still holding onto 15-17%BF ? :confused: Invalid Link Removed There is energy stored there, why can’t I use it ?!!!! :rant: Invalid Link Removed

* And yes, just starving myself didn’t improve the situation, it made it worse. Invalid Link Removed
WHY ? :rant: BECAUSE MY BODY REFUSED TO BURN THE STUBBORN FAT :rant: It much preferred burning muscle instead. Muscle is not stubborn to burn.

* My genetics are crap :rant: :rant: :frustrate:

* Well, to hell with THAT :duel:

* AP + YOHIMBE + ALCAR…. HINT, HINT !

* Point of the story: IT IS NOT ENOUGH TO GIVE THE BODY A REASON TO BURN STUBBORN FAT (caloric deficit, extra cardio, etc), YOU NEED TO :nutkick: IT TO DO SO ! It is called POSITIVE REINFORCEMENT Invalid Link Removed ;)

* Side note: ALCAR is not JUST an antioxidant. It shuttles free fatty acids (FFA) into mitochondria, a process which is necessary for “turning FFA into energy”.

L-Carnitine (ß-hydroxy-gammatrimethylammonium butylate) —
(CH3)3N+-CH2-CH(OH)-CH2-COO- — is a nutrient normally obtained in the diet from meat (muscle). It is synthesized in the liver from lysine and methionine. Carnitine promotes fatty acid oxidation (fat metabolism) in muscle, thereby promoting efficient energy production.

Fats (fatty acids) cannot be metabolized unless they are transported into mitochondria by carnitine. Once in the mitochondria fatty acid chains are broken into two-carbon acetyl-CoA units (a process known as ß-oxidation). (A modified ß-oxidation also occurs in peroxisomes.) Acetyl-CoA can then be converted to ATP via the citric acid cycle and oxidative phosphorylation.
The acetylated version of carnitine, Actyl-L-Carnitine (ALCAR) is absorbed by the gastrointestinal tract, enters cells and crosses the blood-brain barrier more readily than unacetylated carnitine, and is therefore more suitable as a nutritional supplement.

I'll just have to make sure I stretch the time between BCAA intake and the postWO Whey+CARB shake to 30min, instead of 10-15min. It will be hard :food: but I trust Snag's opinions! :box:

15 minutes is preferable than immediately after obviously.

30 minutes takes better advantage of the remaining elevated bloodflow from exercise, imo.

That, combined with your obvious understanding of amino absorption, is the Perfect Storm!

More bloodflow+more BCAA = the perfect combo! :D

...side note #2: "starvation", like everything else, needs to be cycled on and off :food:, so the body doesn't get into the non-responder state :lol:

You've convinced me to buy some ALCAR. Do you know what a good therapeutic dose is? I bought the 500mg and I assume that's enough to dose at a time.

Glad to be of help Volcom ! :)

* Generally FOR COMMON MORTALS :lol:, about 2 grams should be taken, on empty in divided doses (500mg)

* For HIGHLY ACTIVE INDIVIDUALS AND MACHINES ;) : 2-4g is recommended

* I personally take ALCAR in powder-form, 4-5g before weights or cardio :D

...And now you got me started again, I think ALCAR should be a must for everyone interested in good health. Here is why:

ALCAR symptoms of deficiency:

*Muscle fatigue and muscle cramping
*Heart irregularities (makes sense ‘cause highest *concentration of Carnitine are found in heart & muscle)
*Malfunctioning of kidneys

BENEFITS of ALCAR supplementation:

*Improved fat metabolism
*Enhanced physical and mental energy
* Anti-aging, anti-oxidant, neuroprotective
* Decreases symptoms of depression
* Prevents decrease of testosterone after exercise&stimulates testosterone production

SIDE EFFECTS (VERY RARE):

* Increase in blood pressure
* Faster heartbeats
* Fever
* Large amounts may cause diarrhoea

DAY 126

* Details as promised ;)

* Supplements schedule and dosing exactly as 2 days ago on my OFFICIAL BIG LIFTS DAY OPENING http://anabolicminds.com/forum/supplement-reviews-logs/103668-2-days-recreate-33.html#post1736879

* Decided on a more comprehensive BACK&SHOULDER workout than 2 days ago, incorporating higher exercise diversity & volume, to shock the muscles from all angles :saw:

* :fool2: I know ‘cause I could feel the consequences of my Narrow Grip Pulldown&Deads PRs from 2 days ago :eek:

* Anyways, my response to ^^ was simply: Body, if you think you know pain :nono:, think again!!! :trout:

1. Front Rows-cable

* 99lb 8

this used to be my PR weight and I used it as a warmup ! :icon_lol:

* 121lb 4/4/3 dropset to
….110lb 3/4/3

121lb ?!!! 3 sets ?!!! I was in awe !!! + 22lb, and even the dropset weight was + 11lb from the previous PR. Is that Prime or what ! :D

*110lb 6/6/6
(just for fun, felt kind of too easy :rolleyes:)

2. Cleans&Presses

* 66lb 8
* 83lb 6

* I decided to skip my PR weight Invalid Link Removed
90lb (1 set, 4x)
and went straight to:

* 93.5 lb 3

* That was a bit of a shock to the CNS system Invalid Link Removed I have to admit, and I really wanted to crank up an extra rep but simply couldn’t (without some detrimental skull-crushing effects :lol:)

:think: .... Invalid Link Removed

* Turned ipod to Metallica: Disposable Heroes Invalid Link Removed :head:
As the chorus started :

Back to the front
You will do what I say, when I say
Back to the front

…and so I did :twisted:

*101lb 2/2/2 NEW PR +11lb!!!

And the song went on

Kill, have no fear Invalid Link Removed

... Invalid Link Removed

*90lb 4/4/4

Boy that felt easy !!!!!! (and to think that 7 days ago I managed only 1 set at 4 reps, today this was a bloody cool-down weight :fool2: :p)

3. Hanging knee raises

* 4 sets, 10 reps each

4. Lat Pulldowns

*100lb 6
*110lb 4
*121lb 3/3/3 NEW PR !!!! +11lb ! :woohoo: dropset to
...110lb 2/2/2

Note, I used a different bar for the pulldowns for this and the previous workout, the bar that has handles at each end so your palms face each other during the exercise

5. Front DB Raises (I am really anal about them and lift high above parallel or else it :nono: count! :p)

* 2 x 17.6lb 4/4 dropset to NEW PR for STARTERS :D +2.2lb
...2 x 15.4lb 4/4

* 2 x 19.8lb 2/2 dropset to +4.4lb Invalid Link Removed
...2 x 17.6lb 4/4

GAME OVER, I WIN ! Invalid Link Removed

I won't say that you are doing good. I won't even say that you are doing great. I will say that you are freakin' CRUSHING it!!! :hammer:
Your intensity is contagious. I'm going to re-read your workouts before I attempt my own. That'll fire me up for sure!

Heh, not bad.. freaking unreal and astounding progress.

'Nuff said.

Oh, except for the fact that you're grooving on Metallica.. :D

Hey TG! :box:, what can I say, I have learned from the best of the soldiers :)

Holy ****.

:rofl:

True power is in the mind ! WHATEVER the mind orders the body follows…. but Invalid Link Removed
the orders have to be crystal clear.
Doubt once and you will fail,
gets all too confusing that way ! Invalid Link Removed…. :lol:

100% determination = 100% success, 99% :nono:, try again :D

I try not to rest too long Volcom. If I did, I would cool down too much and wouldn't be able to lift that heavy. Don't really time myself, but I'm guessing it is around a 1min mark.

I probably should time myself ... :think:

DAY 127 &128

Nothing extravagant to report. Both days did my usual long-duration runs. 1hr45min each.

I really like these sessions, they are great for stress management, for me at least. I needed that, today especially.

I wish there were more hours in a day :whiner: :sad:

Yeah, I could always cut my time on AM but I don't want to. You people keep me sane :) THANKS !

Invalid Link Removed

Off now Invalid Link Removed, no more this stupid 5hr/ day business, it is starting to affect my outlook on life :ntome:
and that is a major warning sign ! Invalid Link Removed

DAY 129

I had 9hrs of uninterrupted sleep last night :eek:

This morning I did 1hr fasted cardio and I am about to hit the gym in an hour.

I LOVE WEEKENDS !!!!!!!! Invalid Link Removed

I wish I could get disciplined enough to get off the forum earlier than 2-3AM :lol:

DAY 129 - CONT.

So I hit the weight room in the afternoon and here is what I did:

CHEST,BIS&TRIS - FASTED PROTOCOL

1. Bench

* 64lb 8 waste of time even as a warmup :aargh:

It was a mistake, I noticed later that the bar I was using was 33lb and not 44lb

* 83.5lb 6
* 94lb 4

* 105lb 2 Almost killed me ! Invalid Link Removed
* 105lb 6/6/8 - all assisted, not much, just to get past the "crisis" point

I was actually stoked I managed 2 reps at 105lb on my own Invalid Link Removed
Only once before did I atempt 105lb: 3 x 6 reps and all reps were slightly assisted

Doing hypertrophy, I was doing 90lb for 12 reps but anything close to 100lb was Invalid Link Removed Invalid Link Removed...HARD !!! :lol:
....and I'd need a spotter to get me through

* 94lb 4/4/4
* 90lb 6/6/6

2. Bi curls on cables - MAX OUT ATEMPT

* 79lb 6
* 100lb 3 (+1 rep :p)

previous max out was 100lb, 1 x 2 reps
todays' max out :hammer:

* 110lb 2 x 2 reps !!!!! + 10lb !!!!!! :head:
..and an extra
* 100lb 2 x 2 reps :D

Totally surreal, I'm curling close to my own body weight on the cables ! Bis are no longer my weakest link :woohoo:

3. Narrow Grip Barbell Press superset
4. Narrow Grip DB Press superset
5. Barbell Bi Curl superset
6. DB Bi Curls

3. 83lb 6
4. 2 x 27.5lb 6
5. 51lb 6
6. 2 x 22lb 8

3. 94lb 5/5 PR !!! +4lb :D
4. 2 x 27.5lb 6/6
5. 56lb 6/6 PR !!! + 5lb :D:D
6. 2 x 22lb 8/8

3. 90lb 5
4. 2 x 33lb 6
5. 62lb 4 AND AGAIN ! + extra 6lb, so, +11lb in total since last week :D :D :D didn't quite manage 6 reps, that's OK, next time ! :twisted:
6. 2 x 22lb 8

* Quite happy with this, BIS definitely getting stronger, Tris and Bench, progress somewhat slower but still progress :)

* I told the gym manager how much my curls improved in a week and he looked at me Invalid Link Removed

* I just said, yeah, I can't believe it either ! Invalid Link Removed

:lol:

I had 9hrs of uninterrupted sleep last night :eek:

Making the rounds here.. this is one of the most inspirational threads on AM D! Very nice..

I'm jealous of all that sleep you got. I don't think I've slept that long since I was 12! Had a couple 5hr sleep nights myself this week, so I was happy to get 7.5hrs last night! ;)

I've been having this problem, but only because my body wakes up earlier. I used to be able to sleep in, but now I'm up at 7:15am no matter what. Does that mean I'm getting old? :think:

I think he's trying to say something.. :think:
Maybe that does have something to do with age. I noticed this in my early 30's; really when I started utilizing keto diet it got off the hook. I didn't even have to set my alarm anymore cuz I would wake up at 5:15am like a clock. Still do really, but now if I don't need to be up, I'm able to get back to sleep for awhile (most of the time) instead of waking up just wired as all get out..
