L-Carnitine (ß-hydroxy-gammatrimethylammonium butylate) —
(CH3)3N+-CH2-CH(OH)-CH2-COO- — is a nutrient normally obtained in the diet from meat (muscle). It is synthesized in the liver from lysine and methionine. Carnitine promotes fatty acid oxidation (fat metabolism) in muscle, thereby promoting efficient energy production.
Fats (fatty acids) cannot be metabolized unless they are transported into mitochondria by carnitine. Once in the mitochondria fatty acid chains are broken into two-carbon acetyl-CoA units (a process known as ß-oxidation). (A modified ß-oxidation also occurs in peroxisomes.) Acetyl-CoA can then be converted to ATP via the citric acid cycle and oxidative phosphorylation.
The acetylated version of carnitine, Actyl-L-Carnitine (ALCAR) is absorbed by the gastrointestinal tract, enters cells and crosses the blood-brain barrier more readily than unacetylated carnitine, and is therefore more suitable as a nutritional supplement.

I'll just have to make sure I stretch the time between BCAA intake and the postWO Whey+CARB shake to 30min, instead of 10-15min. It will be hard :food: but I trust Snag's opinions! :box:
Speakin' of which, on my heaviest deadlift set yesterday I had my ipod set on Master of Puppets. I was timing the lift to the chorus:
Come crawling faster
Obey your master
Your life burns faster
Obey your master
15 minutes is preferable than immediately after obviously.
30 minutes takes better advantage of the remaining elevated bloodflow from exercise, imo.
That, combined with your obvious understanding of amino absorption, is the Perfect Storm!
More bloodflow+more BCAA = the perfect combo!![]()
HAHA, insanity is all good in my world JKP
A LITTLE EXPLANATION NOW – STUBBORN FAT PART II Invalid Link Removed
* You’ve already heard it before Invalid Link Removed
* You got to eat every so often or else your metabolism shuts down and you end up drowning in catabolism Invalid Link Removed= :nono: fat burning, Invalid Link Removed muscle burning
* Well, yes, ONLY PARTIALLY TRUE, but STOP and  about it for a moment...
1st:STUBBORN FAT called STUBBORN for a reason. The body WANTS to hold on to it AT ALL COSTS.
2nd: if you feed your body constantly, (small or big meals), you are giving it NO STIMULUS to burn any fat, let alone stubborn fat.
* You may say, but if I starve myself (like I did for the past two days, I had 2 rather intense workouts 4 hrs after my last meal, practically running on empty + stimulants + AP), I will lose my muscle
* Well, it always used to strike me before, when I was in much better fed state than this last two workouts, how come I’m running flat, out of energy, hypo when I’m still holding onto 15-17%BF ?Invalid Link Removed There is energy stored there, why can’t I use it ?!!!! Invalid Link Removed
* And yes, just starving myself didn’t improve the situation, it made it worse. Invalid Link Removed
WHY ? BECAUSE MY BODY REFUSED TO BURN THE STUBBORN FAT  It much preferred burning muscle instead. Muscle is not stubborn to burn.
* My genetics are crap   :frustrate:
* Well, to hell with THAT :duel:
* AP + YOHIMBE + ALCAR…. HINT, HINT !
* Point of the story: IT IS NOT ENOUGH TO GIVE THE BODY A REASON TO BURN STUBBORN FAT (caloric deficit, extra cardio, etc), YOU NEED TO :nutkick: IT TO DO SO ! It is called POSITIVE REINFORCEMENT Invalid Link Removed
* Side note: ALCAR is not JUST an antioxidant. It shuttles free fatty acids (FFA) into mitochondria, a process which is necessary for “turning FFA into energy”.
Nice info DF!! (as always..)![]()

9hours, that's like two full nights worth! I wished I knew how to do that.
I had 9hrs of uninterrupted sleep last night![]()
Making the rounds here.. this is one of the most inspirational threads on AM D! Very nice..
I'm jealous of all that sleep you got. I don't think I've slept that long since I was 12! Had a couple 5hr sleep nights myself this week, so I was happy to get 7.5hrs last night!![]()
I've been having this problem, but only because my body wakes up earlier. I used to be able to sleep in, but now I'm up at 7:15am no matter what. Does that mean I'm getting old?
I think he's trying to say something..
Maybe that does have something to do with age. I noticed this in my early 30's; really when I started utilizing keto diet it got off the hook. I didn't even have to set my alarm anymore cuz I would wake up at 5:15am like a clock. Still do really, but now if I don't need to be up, I'm able to get back to sleep for awhile (most of the time) instead of waking up just wired as all get out..
