Had a GREAT workout today kids! Had some PR action, fantastic pumps, and overall intensity pushing the envelope (maybe Kleen can find out where THAT saying came from). Push the envelope
Meaning

To attempt to extend the current limits of performance. To innovate, or go beyond commonly accepted boundaries.

Origin

This phrase came into general use following the publication Tom Wolfe's book about the space programme - The Right Stuff, 1979:

"One of the phrases that kept running through the conversation was ‘pushing the outside of the envelope’... [That] seemed to be the great challenge and satisfaction of flight test."

Wolfe didn't originate the term, although it's appropriate that he used it in a technical and engineering context, as it was first used in the field of mathematics.

The envelope here isn't the container for letters, but the mathematical envelope, which is defined as 'the locus of the ultimate intersections of consecutive curves'. In a two-dimensional example, the set of lines described by the various positions of a ladder sliding down a wall forms an envelope - in this case an arc, gently curving away from the intersection of the wall and floor. Inside that envelope you will be hit by the ladder; outside you won't.

(Note for the mathematically inclined: it might seem intuitive that the centre point of the ladder would follow that same arc. In fact it describes a circle centred around the origin).

That's enough mathematics. The point is that an envelope is that which envelops. The phrase has something in common with an earlier one - 'beyond the pale'. Inside the pale you were safe; outside, at risk.

In aviation and aeronautics the term 'flight envelope' had been in use since WWII, as here from the Journal of the Royal Aeronautical Society, 1944:

"The best known of the envelope cases is the 'flight envelope', which is in general use in this country and in the United States... The ‘flight envelope’ covers all probable conditions of symmetrical maneuvering flight."

That envelope is the description of the upper and lower limits of the various factors that it is safe to fly at, that is, speed, engine power, manoeuvrability, wind speed, altitude etc. By 'pushing the envelope', that is, testing those limits, test pilots were able to determine just how far it was safe to go. By 1978 the phrase was in use in print. In July that year, Aviation Week & Space Technology magazine had:

"The aircraft's altitude envelope must be expanded to permit a ferry flight across the nation. NASA pilots were to push the envelope to 10,000 ft."

The following year, Wolfe picked up the phrase and it went from a piece of specialist technical jargon into the general language.

Switched up my back routine a little bit to get more direct work on specific muscles. I always feel like I work my arms more than anything, especially forearms, but today I ended with a nice pulsating pump across my whole back. Wanna hear it, here it go!

Arms were still screaming after I was done but I'm feeling it real good in my back as well, especially the lats! I dropped shrugs because they get plenty of attention through other exercises and I feel is one of my better developed muscles anyway (carrying drums from 6-12th grade for marching band had these growing at an early age).

very common mistake for guys to make, actually makes you look smaller/narrower

Thanks buddy! Yeah I need to learn how to pose. If nothing else just so I can show you guys a good representation of the gains I'm making. I took like 7 pics trying to get one worth showing lol.
 
Wow, pics are showing some quality size gain. Maybe I missed it but what it your weight at now? I haven't heard the music you mentioned but I'll check it out. I'm usually one for metal, especially while lifting. Disturbed and Static-X are favorites.

Do you have a log? I'd definitely follow. Glutes can never be too big, I say! I just tried sumo front squats with no lockout and let's just say I thought I might tear my pants because of the glute pump haha. Also very good for the adductors.

Thanks Classy! I'm sitting right at 200 (between 199-201) This morning I was 200.2. I just can't seem to get the weight up. I eat uncomfortable amounts of calorie dense foods but my weight hasn't moved. That's going to change this next week though. I'm determined to add 5 more pounds!

I was in love with her as a teen, when she was muscle-y but not overly masculine, still very feminine
then she went all hormonal overboard, seriously destroyed her looks
but she never looked like Bev there, huh-uh
 
I met Debbie Muggli when I was younger and she was pretty scary. Looked like a male bodybuilder with long hair and a boob job. She was actually a lot bigger in person than I thought too. She was off season and looked to be pushing 200 and was still pretty lean.

Planning on taking it easy the rest of this week so my body can focus on beating this shît. Fairly annoyed that something keeps interrupting my flow. As soon as I get in a groove something has to fûck it up. But I'll just pick up where I left off Monday and keep pushing. The end of this cycle is drawing nigh. PCT soon to come so I really hope I can hit it hard and not miss a beat.

This is probably the worst I've felt. It's worse at night and when I wake up. Feels like someone put a vice on my chest and then I start hacking up a lung. Can't breathe, sleep sucks, headaches... and now I'll stop whining.

First of all, my oldest daughters are named Raven Skyy and Raine Starr. So naturally Moon just worked well. And Era is the combination of my name and my wife's name, Eric and Kira. :-)

So apparently I've had the respiratory flu that everyone gets the flu shot for. I guess I just thought the flu resulted in stomach issues but this chain acts like a really bad cold that takes weeks to fight off and leaves you feeling extremely weak and tired. Perfect timing too some I completely lost out on the last week of my cycle and the 2 weeks following up to PCT which is probably the most important for securing gains. Needless to say, I lost a lot already. My weight has stayed right at 200 but I just look sloppy which in turn has left me feeling a bit depressed (being sick for 3 weeks will have that affect too, I suppose). So, after 3 weeks of fighting this crap I just can't stay out of the gym any longer. I'm just going to go in and see what I can do.

Btw I started PCT today. Dosed 90mg torem. Time to go lift some weights.

I was extremely shakey and my joints hurt. I could have gotten a 5th rep but I wasn't going to push it. Did some light squats, slow and deep. Seated Rows, Calf raises, Incline Bench, lat delt raises, and a set of bi Curls and tri extensions. Mostly what I noticed more than anything was how horrible my breathing was. Obviously that would be the case but I just couldn't catch my breath. Oh well, it is what it is. I just need to push it a little harder on Wednesday. Hopefully I'll snap back quick and be able to solidify SOME of my gains.

maybe just take a few days off so you can recover 100% then come back and destroy it later on!
