I got another 'omg I'm desperate/in trouble and need a source, help me!' pm from someone with 5 posts or less.
Anyone else think a post count minimum for pm privelages would be a good idea? even if it's only 10, at least someone has to make a half hearted effort to read through and reply to some posts before going door to door begging so to speak.

I haven't had this happen TOO much, but I can definately understand what you're saying. I can see how it'd get annoying. "I see that X has a lot of posts/replies in the steroid section, I should PM X."

It's not even so much that, it's just annoying that people don't want to even try to establish a presence in the community before asking about things that require trust or involve personal safety risks.

OMGZ I NEEDZ A SORZE!!! PLZ EYEM 39% BODYFAT AND NEED CLEN + WILL KEEP 10K KALORIE DIET KLEEN!!

Most of the people who asked me for sources had about 100 posts so I'm in favor of increasing it. It would also limit the PM's about "Is creatine ethyl ester the best creatine" etc.

AM should institute a problem-solving question in order to post.
That's a great idea.

The problem with enforcing a minimum post count rule for PM'ing, is that it will lead to tons of rubbish posts, to make the minimum. Unless it is something really high(500), then they'll just go elsewhere, most likely.

I learned stuff I have by reading all over the boards during free time and when I have a question. Sometimes you can even squeeze a question in a lil off topic when you respond to another post. Point being I have not PMed anyone as of yet, If you have a Q be patient the anwser lies within.....the AM boards that is!

A 500 post limit seems steep lol. I am not even that far and I would hope to be able to PM if the need be lol. an 100 Post/10 day entry period sounds decent. It means at least some one would know they exist and they should have had the chance to find the question anwsered on the forums somewhere.

That's why I created the thread in my signature - to cutdown on PMs and have some of these questions answered informatively in dialogue format for everybody to benefit. The USP Labs thread, that is.

What we are failing to recognize is that ANY source posting whether via PM or open post is against board rules regarding source posting.

So whether the minimum post count to activate the PM privilege be 5, 50 or 500, sourcing through PM is breaking board rules.

There was a stickie regarding this that I posted in a while back (I am sorry I just cannot keep up with the volume anymore, find it on your own, or not...) but PM source inquiries, source soliciting, source checks and or anything source related in a PM is a board rules violation.

But I see you're not opposed to a skill-testing question of some kind! Haha.

lol you actually get pm's about that?
I used to get some every now and then when I was more active on AM. I don't get many lately because I've been less active but it's a little annoying because it's probably the dumbtards who end up in the news because steroids destroyed their lives LOL.

I believe there should be a five question minimum to register, even more to post. Then a monthly evaluation to continue to be here. That's just my opinion.

You know; grammar, spelling, five president's who's last names begin in H, who invented the radio?

Additionally, there would be a much more comprehensive "user agreement" in order to register!

The thing is, I am a professional who is accustomed to procedure and policy in accordance with ISO, AS, GMP and ANSI standards. You know...intelligent stuff.

Unfortunately this would reduce our active users and new registration to just about 10% at best. That would not make the sponsors happy...oh and for that matter qualify many either :D

You would eliminate about every 'popular' poster at AM with the imposition of a grammar test. So, in other words, get on it!

Test multi-lingual capability and decimate AM membership! Hardly a win-win option... :)

It should be the same for posting images and links. That would prevent any possible spammers from succeeding with their posts.

I definitely think a better idea is needed. Punishing the masses for a few peoples stupidity would be a governmental move, and you all know how much we love the government right? You know one kid abuses M1T and so it all gets banned kind of stuff.

1. Upon PM'ing you could have a skill testing question that is relative to the board rules "Is PM'ing for sources allowed on AM?" Yes / No radio button.

2. Post count minimum 250

3. Easy reporting of infractions or blocking of PM's, if poster is sending to you for the first time they must disclose the subject in which they are wanting to discuss.

Not sure currently how else this could be accomplished but thinking as if you were wanting a source for something, what would deter you?

well... now i know not to PM any of ya'll..lol

lol I don't mind if forum regulars want to have a talk with me outside of the board, it's the complete strangers who show no desire whatsoever to gain your respect & trust, or show that they've spent time here trying to actually learn before they go hounding us for sensitive information that bother me.

who cares. Just delete the PM. That's what I do.

Esp those annoying/lame 'stack' questions.

'What do you think of this stack ? Product X,Y,Z ?'
