Well unfortunately they jumped the gun and didn't have approval and cancelled, so I am now waiting to hear about an approval. Frustrating, but it is what it is.Man that is great….hopefully they will figure it out and come up with a solid game plan to bring you some healing and relief.
you're just a great big 'ol teddy bear these days!My MIL is now in town, so I am trying to see if I can get off. I forgot that my wife was no longer able to take a week off due to changing jobs and not having PTO yet. So, now I am requesting to be able to take tme off while she is here.
We have a running joke where she call's me her favorite child. LOL even bought me a shirt. So, we get along really well, and she does not get in the middle of things and keeps her opinions to herself even if there is an argument or something. So it works out well.you're just a great big 'ol teddy bear these days!
my wife's family are in town visiting next door for the week and my response was a bit different than yours. Since we put that fence up I told my wife "you know what they say about good fences?"
they make good neighbors, ha.
my wife's aunt is like her mom at this point since both parents have passed. they are polar opposites of us politically ever since about 2020. (prior to COVID it would be funny going to their house cause she's always been liberal, but he used to be conservative. so I told them one time it was fun to watch them argue on the couch cause it was like real life picture in picture, streaming CNN and FOX at the same timeSo, we get along really well, and she does not get in the middle of things and keeps her opinions to herself even if there is an argument or something. That's a real bummer man, I can't believe they didn't ensure they had the preauthorization from your insurance to do the MRI. Hope you get rescheduled soon enough.Well unfortunately they jumped the gun and didn't have approval and cancelled, so I am now waiting to hear about an approval. Frustrating, but it is what it is.
Had some good training over the weekend. I was able to get both my chest and lats a little sore. Just basic sessions broken down into pull, and push options.

Training seems to be going well, and lower volume, higher intensity seems to allow me to get the job done before my trouble areas lose stability due to fatigue.
Haha right, I think the conservative husband / liberal wife is a lot more common than most people think. Also, you know every once in a while I think they just seek out chaos and drama!my wife's aunt is like her mom at this point since both parents have passed. they are polar opposites of us politically ever since about 2020. but anyways if I'm hanging with them, I know well enough I'm not going down any political rabbit holes. I keep things lighter, and if politically dangerous topics come up, I keep to asking questions about science or humanity. I keep it gentler and I avoid arguments.
the ladies however... I swear my wife and her aunt will out of the blue just stick their fingers in politics bees nest to rile eachother up sometimes for no reason whatsoever
they do love each other though, travel together, we do happy hour together, thanksgiving etc so its not like there is a divider, but I have no idea why they have to start those fights ha. (well I probably do but whatever lol)
Agreed! That's a real bummer man, I can't believe they didn't ensure they had the preauthorization from your insurance to do the MRI. Hope you get rescheduled soon enough.
Good to hear about the training progression though. And glad you get along with the MIL. I always got along with my significant other's mothers well too. I'm not sure how you would be in a long term relationship and not get along with the parents. The added stress that would cause!
at first I was like, this feels relatableMy first marriage her father hated me
and then I was likeat one point put a hit out on me to have my legs broke by some of his thug security guys,
LMFAO!!!
um, yeah this is a little too relatable right now. like last week when my wife experiemented with squash blossoms. this is BEFORE she fried them up. delicious though, haha. Yesterday I came home and she had like six loaves of chocolate zuchinni bread made.. basically giant brownies.unfortunately I think I am in that being fed too often and the wrong things state again due to family visitors. How do you say no to someone who's love language is service and they want to feed you all the time.
I may have to check that out. LOL The wild thing is there were so many things i started typing that were starting to branch off into other wild tales... Like in between the 2 years I hadn't worked the thug security guys ended up being plugs I would get an o of snow from and give to these guys to take to the club for 50% of the projected profit margin. Being an entrepreneur and all... LOL My life truly is a wild story of how did he get here, and not in jail or shot.Dude WTF you need to write a book!!!![]()
Jim was in the old forum before dapack and I came over here and he wrote this book, its a damn good read. and he's honest about shitting his pants squatting so I was cracking up. he references drug use and whatnot pretty candidly, its pretty refreshing!

Oh yeah, IU had forgotten how strong he was but that 602 bench was the world record for the masters 242 class at the time. I forgot he squatted and deadlifted that much. Now that’s a helluva story! I’d hear the abridged version but those details were epic!
He was a strong sonofabitch, no doubt. Maybe I should take more gear![]()

He trained Anthony Clark for a good while, not sure if any of you all have been following PL long enough to know him, but Anthony was such a good dude, I remember watching him bend and break bars at the golds I was a PT at, having to help spot on occasion if one of the PL group didn't show up. He used to go to the High schools and deadlift cars and stuff talking about don't take drugs while being a walking steroid. LOL His size was almost unfortunate though, he could get winded walking across a room he was so big. You could hear every breathe he took, it was sad but not a surprise when he passed at 38.
Yeah, Anthony was such a good guy, and I saw that reverse grip bench many times.Yeah and that 602 was at a time when the shirt technology was still fairly primitive - most guys were working hard to get 10% or so. You were absolutely a 5-550lb raw bencher to make 600 back in that era, no doubt. There simply was no competition besides singe-ply suits and shirts, everyone used them and they didn’t help so radically. The deadlifts always told the truth too, because you can’t really get anything out of them, maybe 20lbs.
Oh man if you don’t know who Anthony Clark was, you don’t know **** about powerlifting history, no doubt a major icon! Reverse grip bench, no less!!!
LOL right, yeah man, I have so many wild stories. I put myself in a lot of interesting situations, especially being super impulsive, and high risk tolerance, if not enjoyment of risky situations. I was jumping off my roof for fun at 7 or 8 years old.lol this got wild. Leading off with his freakish lifts definitely toned down the wildness of the rest of the story though![]()
Thanks @gphagan1 that really means a lot. (bolded)That was a wild story, and it did read like I was reading an excerpt out of an action novel. Actually sounds like it could be a pretty cool movie. Honestly though man the way your brother was murdered, and at your 21 birthday party no doubt, was horrible. No wonder it pushed you over the edge, but it’s awesome seeing the man, husband, and father you’ve become….that’s the ultimate victory.![]()
Thanks, yeah a pretty wild and eventful life no doubt, but you know I don't regret a lot of it. At least the things I did. I became pretty resilient finding my way.Dang man. Truly don't know what others have been through in life. Glad you came out on the other side, but that is wild man. Lucky too brother, as that could've ended up very differently.
Somewild times man! Pretty sure my parents still have a tub full of readers digests. I don’t know why but when I think of readers digest I can still hear Paul Harvey on the radio, “and now you know, the rest of the story.”Sorry I have been away, when work gets busy it gets busy, and out of respect for the wife and kids I try not to spend much time on the forums at home. There was a period of time when I was repping companies, that I dedicated so much time to it that she began to resent the forums, even though she was still supportive of why I was doing it. So, I changed my behavior, the last thing I want any of them to think is that I am neglecting them.

You can probably tell by the verboseness of my posts that I enjoy writing. Hell, talking, for that matter. LOL
I have tossed around the idea of trying to write a book or something someday. I wrote a couple of short stories when I was younger. One of them was published in The Reader's Digest. Remember that old thing? That was pretty cool, I also had some poetry published in some magazine I don't remember the name of now. So I enjoy it, just need to do it every once in a while. See if something I would actually like to pursue.
Thanks, yeah a pretty wild and eventful life no doubt, but you know I don't regret a lot of it. At least the things I did. I became pretty resilient finding my way.
Yeah, for sure could have gone worse. I have had a gun pointed at me multiple times, and had one to my head 3 times in my life, so not even the scariest things I have been through. Well the night my brother got shot was also one of the times I had a gun to my head. On top of that, I have been woken up by SWAT and DEA banging on my door with machine guns and full tactical gear. They didn't come for me, but apparently I had a few warrants for failure to appear for traffic violations. So I went to jail in February in my boxers, no shoes or socks... Found out one of the guys who had been there doing tattoos the night before was like on the top 10 most wanted lists for some wild crap. So someone tipped them he was there and they had like 25 of them. The funny thing is I had taken a lot of acid the night before like 3-4 hits, and I still had a bit of that surreal things are not quite right feeling at 6AM when they damn near took the door off the hinges and started yelling over a bullhorn. So it was even more intense to me.
