Hyde’s Strength Odyssey

First off congrats on a great weekend to both of you. Sounds like a near perfect weekend for both of you minus a single bench. You should be incredibly proud of that squat and the mental component of firing everything at perfect timing to make that lift and not injure yourself and set up the rest of the day.

How much did the halo help on the squats and pulls?

I think you get healthy and go for elite at 198 once you are. Sounds like it’s achievable at either 198 or 220. I bet if you’re healthy though you could add 25+ lbs to squats and deads at 198 though. My question I guess would be , do you think injury risk is higher trying to replicate all this at 198 or making up 85 lbs at 220?

Get healthy first though , you’ve earned it

Thank you! And same to everyone for all the kind words and support.

Glad you brought up the halo: I think 30mg worked a lot better for me than 20mg to help put me in the right zone. Gave me that “fight in the dog” type of aggression, but didn’t feel angry/irritable the way Tren Ace/No Ester can make me. And I think it helped a lot, both from that psychological perspective as well as actual neural output/power: 600 squat was FAST on camera, and it felt light too. On the pulls, I had zero hesitation or fear. Someone asked me after the squat if I thought I could have done even more. I told them neurologically definitely, but no way - I simply didn’t have the training to even consider setting up for anything bigger at this time.

This is pretty relevant because this was actually a bit lower total mg cycle for me too: most of the 14 week prep was just the sub-600mg oil/wk, then tapered in 25-50mg of Var preWO some day 6-7 weeks out before adding 40mg Tbol & 25mg Var daily the last month, and 40/50 the last 2 weeks to peak. So basically >600mg for 6 weeks, then 750-1,000 and last 2 weeks 1150-1230 total. But the power was there at the end when it counted and my muscle retention was incredible.

The risk is technically higher going down to 198 because I’ll have to continue to operate in a deficit for a prolonged period (instead of switching to maintenance cals), but the idea of getting down one more time to see what I can do there does excite me. And I can always still go 220 again still if not.

Congrats on an awesome performance and man you look like a brick shithouse filled back out while that lean. I was picturing your old physique back early on the boards to now... Just unreal

Excited to see wherever you go.from here

I appreciate that, and am glad I got to share this journey with you!

I definitely have gotten a lot more comments lately about being jacked, no doubt.

Think if you can spend a month or two at maintenance and just settle into the mid-220s, then you could hit another deficit until you're in that 205-210 range.

Ideally, you'd get there before hitting meet prep even and could do a full prep at or around maintenance calories and then only have to do some water manipulation to come in at 198.

Feel like that would also work with your earlier comments re: taking the foot off the gas and getting healthy for the next meet.

My idea is not so dissimilar, just cutting out the maintenance phase. Focus on getting some weight off now so I have less to trim later and can eat more closer to comp.

Unfortunately for my lipids (but not for this scenario), I still have enough low dose Tren E built up in my system (went up to 50mg/wk the last month) that’s going to probably be meaningful from a glucocorticoid inhibition perspective for another month yet. So even though I will just be on TRT test, that should help give me a muscle preservation edge. And we’re going to the beach in 3 weeks for family vacation so I want to keep things tight. I won’t have all the fullness of the blast peak, but I can still keep my waistline trim.

Plus I will still be using my 2iu GH.

the only downfall to going at 198 is that we'd all miss you around here.

Don’t worry: I’d only be under 200 for a few hours, and I wouldn’t be on the forum during that window anyway! 😜

Monday I didn’t have much appetite & waited to eat for a while, but did decide to eat eventually - I ate the things I had really wanted to during the reload that I couldn’t (because of social/time obligations). Probably 3k calories or so, just ate for enjoyment/reward after a prep well done.

Yesterday I woke 228.0. Just spent the day fasting and continuing to recover.

222.2 this morning, and plan is the same. Just taking the deload opportunity to shave a few lbs and stay out of the gym for a moment to heal.

My last long ester shot was last Wednesday, and the Saturday Trest Ace and all the orals have long cleared my system, so water is coming off. Also haven’t taken my creatine HCL since Sunday. Did take GH yesterday morning, but not today now that the fast is rolling.

Fasted the last 2 days to cut a little fat while I’m deloading anyway.

ART doc around 1pm, then I’ll probably start eating keto around 2pm. Should be 63 hours at least.

Good stuff, between the fast, and then keto, inflammation should clear out pretty quickly.

Something interesting Broderick shared with me this weekend about Dr. Di Pasquale (the champion powerlifter who made the Metabolic Diet I have been following) was that he personally was big on using 19-Nors, as they helped maintain better muscle volume overall on the keto diet through the week (with the extra mineral retention they bring).

Now Tren was only just available for livestock in 1970, so while it was definitely getting used that decade as a PED in DMSO transdermals etc, the total weekly mg would have probably been lesser still. It’s more likely he would have been a Nandrolone guy, or at least used more of that mg-wise.

Anyway, this got me thinking that Trestolone might be an especially effective tool for me with the cyclic keto, in that regards. It wasn’t an option then, but it is an excellent drug for powerlifting overall now & I get a lot out of it.

Even if you look at this last blast, my oil base at peak was:

270 test c
200 mast 3
75 nand d
50 tren e

I definitely felt like the 19-Nors played a big role in the overall performance of this stack. I mean I felt solid as hell on this one. You couldn’t have gotten the benefits just using more test/mast instead. Plus, I did not shed any hair like it would if I had used more of those, nor did my blood get as thick as fast if I had used more test, primo or eq.

Just some AAS nerd stuff to share.

Honestly hearing some of the stuff regarding using super low doses to enhance TRT has me considering giving that microdosing a shot. I doubt I would ever risk it with a heavier dose, but I could see that.

With your current, well the diet up until peak week anyway how many calories a day were you averaging and about how much protein daily, not including the weekends.

Specifically with my diet as it’s been, I don’t think a caloric daily average is useful - the significant calorie cycling is a huge component, and I very much believe the Saturday shitloading metabolically allows total calorie intake that day that essentially gets wasted/wouldn’t be possible out of context (when the depletion environment is right). For example, breaking 7,000 calories the day before my 578 squat and then 4k+ the next day yielded similar net bodyweight results/shifts that next week as 2 days of 4-4,500 each day. Skip Hill has talked about this very prominent benefit of his Skiploading method. He doesn’t do keto prior, but his clients are probably nearly as depleted of glycogen before the load in a prep diet.

But the base 5 keto days the calories cycle with meat choices: 7 ribs for 1, sometimes 2 days. 1.8lbs of wings one day. 1-1.5lbs pork chops for a couple days, and Friday just some shakes or lean pork rib meat (nearly same macros as chicken breast) and a little Caesar salad. 1-2 whey shakes most days, and always a Quest bar. Then trace stuff like fish oil, sugar-free energy drinks, coffee, algae tablets that are static.

So the chops are maybe 1,000 calorie meal, the wings 1,700, and ribs with a stevia rub & mustard more like 2,200. So a rib day will exceed 3k calories. These were often on a Monday, Tuesday, or Wednesday depending on training needs that week. Wings would be one of the other days or Thursday, and Chops the rest besides Friday. Friday was always 1,500-1,900 as a low day. The wing or chop days probably 2,300-2,700.

I mean if I have to try to land an average number, 2500 on weekdays and 8-9k for the entire weekend. But it wouldn’t work as well without the calorie cycling, depletion prior to loading day, then top off day Sunday.

Boy that was a TLDR.

I cycle the meat fats and eat 225-275g protein Mon-Friday.

Weekends I make sure to get 180g protein in and eat what I want, with a prominent focus on carbs.

I think I had heard mast has a bit of an anti-e effect. Do you find that's enough to counteract the 19-nor effects for potential gyno flare? Again, unsure how sensitive you are to that, but heard 19-nors can be hard to manage.

That is a nice way to lay it all out that makes the simplicity of it so attractive too. Also much better information than just a daily average. Thanks for expanding, I didn't want to ask you to lay it all out when I knew you had broken it down a bit previously, but I definitely appreciate it.

I am not sure if you remember, but I went through a period that I was practicing with skiploading. Especially during some of our transformation threads. The level of supercompensation was awesome, and coming in flat was definitely not an option. Like you said though, you could easily eat a lot more, and bottom line, you process what you could and wasted out the rest. I need to go back and read back over that, see if I want to take it for a run again. That or considering the CarbNite approach which is similar just less of a refeed. Hence the 1 night.

It depends. I use Mast in a lot of my blasts because it does act like a SERM, but it’s going to depend on the total estrogen load. Like 300mg of deca with very low testosterone isn’t going to be the same estrogen burden as half of that in Trest Ace. But either way, whether you’re needing AIs or primo or EQ to manage estrogen conversion or not, some Mast would help block the chest specifically and pull down some of the water overall.

Glad you like it - Skip has some great videos right on his YouTube channel if you search that lays it all out. But I do more fat, sugar, and don’t mind the durations. The Metabolic Diet is more of a lifestyle approach. Skip is chasing maximum fat loss, which I wasn’t.
