Hyde’s Strength Odyssey

First off congrats on a great weekend to both of you. Sounds like a near perfect weekend for both of you minus a single bench. You should be incredibly proud of that squat and the mental component of firing everything at perfect timing to make that lift and not injure yourself and set up the rest of the day.

How much did the halo help on the squats and pulls?

I think you get healthy and go for elite at 198 once you are. Sounds like it’s achievable at either 198 or 220. I bet if you’re healthy though you could add 25+ lbs to squats and deads at 198 though. My question I guess would be , do you think injury risk is higher trying to replicate all this at 198 or making up 85 lbs at 220?

Get healthy first though , you’ve earned it

Thank you! And same to everyone for all the kind words and support.

Glad you brought up the halo: I think 30mg worked a lot better for me than 20mg to help put me in the right zone. Gave me that “fight in the dog” type of aggression, but didn’t feel angry/irritable the way Tren Ace/No Ester can make me. And I think it helped a lot, both from that psychological perspective as well as actual neural output/power: 600 squat was FAST on camera, and it felt light too. On the pulls, I had zero hesitation or fear. Someone asked me after the squat if I thought I could have done even more. I told them neurologically definitely, but no way - I simply didn’t have the training to even consider setting up for anything bigger at this time.

This is pretty relevant because this was actually a bit lower total mg cycle for me too: most of the 14 week prep was just the sub-600mg oil/wk, then tapered in 25-50mg of Var preWO some day 6-7 weeks out before adding 40mg Tbol & 25mg Var daily the last month, and 40/50 the last 2 weeks to peak. So basically >600mg for 6 weeks, then 750-1,000 and last 2 weeks 1150-1230 total. But the power was there at the end when it counted and my muscle retention was incredible.

The risk is technically higher going down to 198 because I’ll have to continue to operate in a deficit for a prolonged period (instead of switching to maintenance cals), but the idea of getting down one more time to see what I can do there does excite me. And I can always still go 220 again still if not.

Congrats on an awesome performance and man you look like a brick shithouse filled back out while that lean. I was picturing your old physique back early on the boards to now... Just unreal

Excited to see wherever you go.from here

I appreciate that, and am glad I got to share this journey with you!

I definitely have gotten a lot more comments lately about being jacked, no doubt.

Think if you can spend a month or two at maintenance and just settle into the mid-220s, then you could hit another deficit until you're in that 205-210 range.

Ideally, you'd get there before hitting meet prep even and could do a full prep at or around maintenance calories and then only have to do some water manipulation to come in at 198.

Feel like that would also work with your earlier comments re: taking the foot off the gas and getting healthy for the next meet.

My idea is not so dissimilar, just cutting out the maintenance phase. Focus on getting some weight off now so I have less to trim later and can eat more closer to comp.

Unfortunately for my lipids (but not for this scenario), I still have enough low dose Tren E built up in my system (went up to 50mg/wk the last month) that’s going to probably be meaningful from a glucocorticoid inhibition perspective for another month yet. So even though I will just be on TRT test, that should help give me a muscle preservation edge. And we’re going to the beach in 3 weeks for family vacation so I want to keep things tight. I won’t have all the fullness of the blast peak, but I can still keep my waistline trim.

Plus I will still be using my 2iu GH.

the only downfall to going at 198 is that we'd all miss you around here.

Don’t worry: I’d only be under 200 for a few hours, and I wouldn’t be on the forum during that window anyway! 😜

Monday I didn’t have much appetite & waited to eat for a while, but did decide to eat eventually - I ate the things I had really wanted to during the reload that I couldn’t (because of social/time obligations). Probably 3k calories or so, just ate for enjoyment/reward after a prep well done.

Yesterday I woke 228.0. Just spent the day fasting and continuing to recover.

222.2 this morning, and plan is the same. Just taking the deload opportunity to shave a few lbs and stay out of the gym for a moment to heal.

My last long ester shot was last Wednesday, and the Saturday Trest Ace and all the orals have long cleared my system, so water is coming off. Also haven’t taken my creatine HCL since Sunday. Did take GH yesterday morning, but not today now that the fast is rolling.

Conrad on a huge meet!!! All the time and hard work Def paid off!!! Dropping down to 90kgs would be crazy with your size.
