I use to regularly do 15min on the elliptical before I would lift. I don't believe it to be counterproductive as long as your not drenched in sweat the whole time. At a moderate pace, maybe break a light sweat, I just kind of treated it as my warm-up. After that 15min and then moving on to weights for a hour, my heart rate would stay under the "fat burning zone" but it would be close. It's basically like I lifted and did an hour to an hour and 15 minutes of low intensity cardio at the same time.I’ve actually started doing my cardio now every session before I lift weights. I know it’s not optimal for hypertrophy, but it ensures I don’t skip cardio
