Segansational's Motivation Log

Nice cut, dude. Arms are looking particularly solid! Keep up the good work!

Nice job man! That’s a good 4 week cut!
Nice to see results. Way to work man!
That is a good amount of weight pretty quickly, well done Sir!
getting a hell of a tennis ball in that bicep bulge!! Jealous!

it's all in the breathwork

Thanks fellas - all put of my bottle of Incinderine and TTA-500. Kept it going during the vacation to try and limit the damage. Will weigh in shortly.

This week it's all about just getting back into the groove after vacation. Resetting so to speak, so just doing what I feel like. Going to ramp up protein again.

Chest Workout

Warm ups:
Cat Backs
Resistance band twists 2x10
Bird Dogs x10,5,3

Machine Chest Press:
3 plates x 12
7 plates, 3x10

Bench Press:
135x8
165x5,5
185x1 - wanted two, but only had one today.

Slingshot:
185x2 - wasn't feeling strong today, but perhaps to be expected after a week of no lifting.

51:30, 180 cals.

Son woke up about 15-20 mins earlier than I would've liked since we forgot to change his wake up light time.

Pre: 1.5 scoops Convict Stim, 1 scoop Ghost Pump. The CS is getting clumped up, but seems to dissolve well still. Was pretty dissappointed I had to chuck the remainder of my Ryse Pump Daddy since it clumped bad - turned red - and smelled terrible. So back to Ghost Pump.

Intra: 1 scoop Grunt, 1 Naturalyte, 2 scoops Creatine HCl, 1/2 scoop Versa Carb.

Random philosophical thoughts:
I'm somewhat high strung, type A. Life is too short for that and it causes me stress both at home and at work. I'm determined to change that. My goal is to let myself be more "go with the flow" and free spirited. I also don't want to "live to work" but rather put in my 9-5 and call it a day. Here's to turning a new leaf in life.

I have never been a career minded person. I have always been of the get myself in a comfortable financial position, so I can have as much free time as I want for my hobbies, and loved ones. Work has always just been where I go to make a living, and that makes it much easier to leave it at the door so to speak. I disconnect from work and don't think about it again until my alarm wakes me up for work in the morning. I don't look at or read my work email until I am on the clock and have a separate phone for work so that it can not accidentally bleed over into my personal time when off.

My approach generally is similar, turn it off when the day ends, etc. But I have a hard time shutting my brain off when I have things left undone / lingering at work. I've been a little more focused on getting that next promotion and climbing that corporate ladder in the past... but honestly I think I'm OK giving that part up now. I'm fortunate to be financially stable at the level I've achieved, so now it's time to enjoy the fruits of my labor a bit more and focus on the part of living that really matters.

The only people who will remember you working overtime is your kids!

I've never been a fan of the C word, personally. I've been very blessed in my own situation in that Dad and I started the company when I was 19 and I've been doing that/building it ever since. That said, if I won the lottery I'd be shitting on my own desk and giving me my resignation tomorrow.

I LOVE the work I do. I just can’t stand the “Sweater Vest Cucks in the Philadelphia Ivory Tower” that I work for. You are only as good as your last day. There is no loyalty for tenure and seniority.

Well, weighed in yesterday post-WO and clearly I had a little too much fun on vacation!

Weight: 170.2# (+2.6#)

So, back to it - added in 2 caps Paradoxine, 2 caps MitoBurnXT, and 3 caps daily of TTA-500.

Plus LFG Burn on cardio only days.

Headed up to NYC today for work, so will need to try to grab some solid "on the go" type meals where I can.

Cardio
Foam rolling
Stationary bike, 28:01, 176 cals.
Heavy bag rounds:
2 x 5 mins

Did the best I could with food today given what I was working with:

1)EAAs/electrolytes/creatine/Versa Carb
2)Whey/MCTs/frozen banana
3)Fried chicken sandwich, coke zero, skipped the fries!
4)Builder bar, sugar free redbull
5)Iced coffee with whole milk
6)Pret Chicken Parm wrap, coke zero, no chips!

Still have time to fit in a little extra protein tonight, thinking maybe some fat free greek yogurt + blueberries.

Skipped the fries! The humanity!!!
I know this is a bit in jest, but my willpower when it comes to food is not always there. So I counted yesterday's no fries / no chips a win. I'll take it whenever I can get it, no matter how small.

Legs
Foam rolling

BB squats
45x10
95x8
135x6
185x5 - felt heavy
195x5 - felt tight in my lower back here so stopped instead of moving up one more set.

Squat strength just isn't there since I haven't been going heavy lately. Also, wearing my new 5-6" inseam shorts makes me realize how much I need to fill out my legs.

Seated leg ext
3 plates x 3 x 10

RDLs
Empty bar 2x10

Bird Dogs
Foam rolling / lacrosse ball
Stretching to finish

Pre: 2 scoops Convict Stim
Intra: Same as previous

I have zero willpower w food also. If it’s in front of me I may eat it. If it’s not there, I won’t go out of my way to find it. STAY STRONG. WE CAN GET THROUGH THIS TOGETHER!!!😂

We all have are issues of willpower for different things. It’s good to recognize it and work on that, so I say great job! Nice session too man!

I think a lot of you guys really cut yourself short on your results, and use what you call will power as an excuse. All that really means is that you actually don't care enough right now about your goal to do the right thing. I don't have some source of magical will power pushing me to do what I am doing. I actually care about my goal and it shows in my behavior. The skipped the fries should be the norm, not a be proud moment if you are someone who is trying to have decent bodyfat levels. It is not about what you can or can't do, it is only about what you will do. Stop telling yourselves you can't, it is negative self defeating BS. Every single one of you can do what you set your mind too. You just have to be willing to be uncomfortable for your goals. Stop shooting yourselves in the foot with excuses, and just do what is required to reach your goal, or just call it a dream if you aren't actually going to pursue it.

Forgive the intolerance here, I am just in the middle of a very uncomfortable prep, and the deeper I get in while refusing to waiver the more obvious excuses for why someone isn't doing what they should be to reach their goal become to me. All of you have so much more potential than you give yourselves credit for but for some reason are more comfortable limiting yourself with labels like no will power, or other self defeating statements that justify why you aren't acheiving your goal instead of attacking those beliefs as the self limiting negative thoughts that they are. You can all do this, and there really is something to be said for being all in on a goal like this.

Anyway, I hope I didn't offend anyone, just giving a little tough love, and a reminder that you are better than you think you are, and shouldn't be so comfortable labeling yourself as someone unlikely to succeed which is what saying you have low willpower is actually doing. Setting up the excuse for possible failure.

My wife and I have many times asked the waitress to NOT bring us the chips and salsa when we go to our favorite mexican restaurant. we sometimes look over menus online before we go out to make sure the food is going to fit our macros when we are cutting. It can be wierd to visit our favorite dive bar and order ice tea instead of a bourbon, but the weirdness passess fast and as a reward I go home and smash.😅

Funny enough, I remember being at a dinner one time at a Mexican restaurant. I got the chicken salad, no dressing (shocking!) and didn't eat a single chip. my Sister in law, very concerned, says "are you even comfortable in your own skin?" and I'm like hell yeah dude, i'm 9% bodyfat! 😅💪

You're in the zone dude, and it's awesome!

it goes both ways and it's a mind F at times. I do remember almost 2 years ago on the dot now, really getting advice and encouragement to eat more, tbh. Which sounds like a weird thing to have to be told but after so many years of staying lean, it was admittedly hard to "let" myself intentionally bulk while embarking on a legit strength cycle. It did work and under yours and Hyde's tutelage my weight gain was a slow but consistent presence into PR after PR after PR. Shifting gears back to cutting is really hard. It isn't REALLY a lifestyle change, but it feels like it at first. I've given myself essentially this past 6+ weeks to ease into it, utilizing fasting here and there since IMO it's way easier. But as it grows and improves I personally can tell the legit cut is going to be more organized and focused. I do miss having a philly cheesesteak meal with tots after a monster deadlift day. But following my wife's program I'm also looking forward to a fat burger on reset meal day.

It’s just the truth: people who have yet to be successful at something particular they place value on have a harder time conceptualizing their potential towards it. But as they do succeed in some small related victory, and can begin to see how other accrued little wins correlate - how just because you’ve never done something, doesn’t imply that you can’t necessarily do it - THEN they can begin to believe in their ability to do even more. To go the distance!

You have to sell yourself every day on your ability to do something, to perform an action or job, or acquire something. Speak and think positively about your ability - the entire human race varies less than 1% in DNA structure. As you convince yourself of your potential, it will get easier & easier to act in manners that improve your desired outcomes.

I know I post this quote a lot, but it’s one of my favorites & I believe in it wholeheartedly:

that quote is 🔥
honestly makes me think of work life almost more than gym life. we started with just us 2 guys and now we have around 70. But it's been 22 years of fighting people to accomplish FAR more than they thought they could accomplish and that fight never ends. You are always dragging people, kicking and screaming, to be a better version of themselves. Management = motivational coaching.

Cardio Session:

Foam rolling / stretching / lacrosse ball
Stationary bike, 30 mins, 174 cals. Was dripping sweat this AM.

Heavy bag rounds:
5 mins x 2 rounds
Just felt slow today, didn't have the energy behind my punches this AM.

TRX calf raises 3x12 - threw these in at the end since I didn't get to them yesterday.

I love that feeling
Me too, that's the only reason I ever like running. And the sauna.
Even my light speed bench felt hard as heck to unrack last night - some days you’re the hammer, others the nail!
Well, today was another one like it. Daughter was up at 4 AM this morning. On and off sleep, didn't actually get downstairs to workout until a little after 6 with lack of sleep to boot. Tried to just maximize time with as much as possible in shorter timeframe today.

Cat Backs
Bird Dogs x10,5,3
Neutral Grip Pull Ups 3x5
EZ bar curls +40x8,8,8
Dips 3x10
DB laterals, 10x2x12

40:25, 107 cals.

Likely the last workout of the week as we have a lot of family commitments coming up this weekend and I'm back to work travel again starting Sunday. Things will be a little in flux for the next 3 weeks or so given how busy our schedule is. Going to try to focus on staying as consistent as possible just to keep myself moving until things level out a bit.

Pre: 2 scoops Convict Stim, 1 scoop Ghost Pump
Intra: Same as usual

Looks like a great session for the time spent!

Talking about trying to stay consistent, just remember to not let great be the enemy of good - getting in any training is indeed better than nothing because you knew it wasn’t going to be legendary or exciting. Even if it’s half an hour before you leave for travel Sunday, or at the hotel gym at night before bed. It keeps you fit and in the habit of moving your body.

I often wonder what would happen if I would just commit to 10 minutes of rounds of pushups daily for an extended period, honestly.

It’s like bad pizza or sub-par sex. Would you rather have not had it at all? I think not!!!

Thanks and a great point to remember! Liked it so much I woke up early to get in some cardio this AM.

This is also the power of this community!

It’s like bad pizza or sub-par sex. Would you rather have not had it at all? I think not!!!
I mean, the combo sounds pretty much like a perfect night!

Weight yesterday: 168.2# (-2.0#)

Cardio today:
28 mins stationary bike, 168 cals.
Heavy bag: 5 mins x 1 round

Will need some extra energy today, didn't realize my flight this evening doesn't get in until 11 PM. Wake up call tomorrow at 5 AM so I can get my weight workout in, a square meal, and showered/dressed before an early morning work start. Have a great week all!

Sounds like a tight schedule. You are definitely committed!!!
Thanks man. Checked into the hotel at 11:20 PM last night, up at 5 AM to fit my workout in. Work responsibilities will have me doing 12 hrs straight through from 8 - 8. Fitting dinner in today may also be a challenge, but we'll see.

Hotel gym here is not bad at all. Still a "commercial" box hotel gym, but space is decent. Pelotons, kettlebells, DBs to 80#, two workout benches, plyo boxes, an all in one tower, cardio equipment. And, no one else here working out. Give it a solid 7.5/10.

Upper Body
Foam rolling
Bird Dogs x10,5,3
Rotator Cuff Ex, 5# DBs 2x10,10

DB Bench Press:
30x12
55x10
60x10
65x6
Elbows weren't loving the weights this morning. Guess I should start traveling with my elbow sleeves.

Cable Crossovers, Techno Gym:
10x10
15x10
20x10
Assume this is in kgs...

Neutral Grip Pull Ups x6,5,4

Cable Low Rows, Techno Gym:
20x10
25x10
Individual arm pulleys, and again assuming kgs.

Foam rolling.

That's all she wrote!

37:10, 132 cals.

Pre: 1 packet OL Conquest Unleashed. Blast from the past! Had this one lying around in my samples bag.
Intra: 1 packet Ryse Hydration.

80 lb dumbbells in a hotel gym is rare! Nice session Seg
Yeah, didn't end up using them, but nice to see them there.

Update: I give the gym more of a 6.5-7 / 10 rating because the recumbent bike screen wasn't functioning, plus the peloton I was going to use also was missing the foot pads. Oh well.

Quick Cardio Session this AM:

15 mins on the Treadmill
Foam rolling
Medicine Ball Crunches
Medicine Ball Twists
Stir the Pot

I slept terribly last night. I don't sleep well in hotels traveling for work. Was tossing and turning from about 3 - 6 AM. So definitely not restful.

I was thinking about this this morning, do you have a favorite single serving type preWO? Wife and I are headed on a road trip beginning of Sept so we'll be smack in the middle of our cut. we have already scoutted out gyms, planned our meal reset/cheat according to where we will be, etc but I'm going to order some travel shampoo containers for my Gear Cream, and I'm thinking some single use preWO packets that fit in the backpack/carry-on would be smart. Especially if it was something pump inducing.

I doubt that you would do this, but I would not add those TD's to any other type of cream or lotion during application or even shortly after. You will be risking not getting the compounds in through your skin by diluting the ingredients in the TD that carry the compounds through the skin barrier.

na in the past, I used this type of thing. put on my TD in the morning in the hotel then if it's say a pool day or something add sunscreen a few hours later at earliest. I'm pretty sure I almost always get at least 4-6hrs before any kind of rinse or addition.

I assumed so, but thought it was worth mentioning.

The crazy thing is the habit adjustment plans we've already made. A Vegas pool is a great place for a drink but we've already made alternative adjustments for an alcohol free pool day followed by a second day with the reset meal planned around pool time (as well as gyms scouted out a month in advance + a Sedona hike day, etc. ). The cut lifestyle is way easier when we're on the same page!

I won't rule it out! We are flying into vegas because it's so cheap (like $79 direct or $12 with air miles) so I won't fly with one but could hit a dispensary down there. We typically aren't real big on the stuff, last time I had any THC with a buddy it just made my brain feel stupid and my wife got the paranoia lol. But I could see how a little cautious use could still make the buzz very enjoyable!

Sounds like microdosing would be up your alley if anything. Some people are golden with 10mg in one shot, some others might have recently strolled through a live experience psychedelic art museum on 200mg and enjoyed the hell out of themselves like that. I probably would not smoke, or hit a vape if I were you, sounds like the smack of getting high is not too enjoyable for you and there really is no way to hit a vape without getting a pretty solid hit. So maybe like a 10mg edible will do you good for a few hours of the edge being off without too many other effects. Eating THC and inhaling it are also 2 completely different experiences and types of high. I think most who get too high from inhaling might be ok with low dosed edibles.

Weighed in the other day and am at 169.4# (+1.2#) since traveling. Only got back in today (missed Wed/Thurs) which isn't ideal, but doing the best I can at this point. Woke up and my lower back felt a little stiff, so kept everything on the lighter side for just a bit of a pump up / catch up workout.

Shoulders/Arms:

Stretching
Foam rolling
DB laterals 10x3x10
Seated DB Shoulder Press, 30x3x10
EZ bar upright rows +40x3x10*
*Last few reps were harder than it should've been.
EZ bar curls +40x3x10
Dips x 12,12,10

41:23, 170 cals.

Pre: 1.5 scoops Convict Stim, 1 scoop Ghost Pump
Intra: Same as usual

Planning for some pool time with the kids after work.

Got an order of Bucked Up supps recently. Will post up the goods, but one I'm interested in trying out is All Bulk, No Bloat which is Creatine, HICA, HMB and Mediator PA plus some other things.

It seems to me like you say this pretty often.

Either you are actually being too hard on yourself about things that aren’t really so egregious, or you truly are blowing things out of the water & you need to stop sabotaging yourself from your goals.

In either scenario, you should try to explore why you are generating this negative thought process. You’re a good guy who deserves the right to build positive momentum!

We all have our demons. I'll leave it here for now. I still have room to grow.

Appreciate the last sentiment Hyde.

Other notes:
Sleep has been poor lately, ever since traveling and with stress high. Going to start adding back in Fade Out or Melatonin this week to get back into a better rhythm for recovery.

We all have our demons. I'll leave it here for now. I still have room to grow.

Appreciate the last sentiment Hyde.

I hear that, June was miserably in my world, I hope you can find some good meditative ways to bring that stress down and don't let it rob you!

Good reminder that I want to start bringing intentionality and meditation back into my nighttime routine. I had done it for a stretch probably two or so years back when work stress was really affecting me.
