How George Floyd died is irrelevant. The fact of the matter is he was a drugged out thug who got not only national media attention on a 24/7. The people burned cities down in his honor. He then had a presidential level funeral in a pandemic when normal citizens weren’t allowed to have funerals for their own families.

This little boy gets executed in cold blood and it’s not even a 15 second spot on the nightly news. Why is it that people don’t care about our children being killed, raped and molester, trafficked, and abused. This is the real problem. Not a couple criminals getting greased by cops. The children!

Some interesting news this morning. My in laws used to live in CA with my sister in law. This was back in 2012. They have been living with us ever since. SIL calls and says she received ballots for the in laws asking what to do with them. They have been registered to vote in OK for 5 years now.

I bet money ballots went to our old house in CA as well for me and my wife.

If we use just only my example of potential voter fraud...that’s 2 known votes and 4 possible. What’s the population of CA and how many have been fleeing from that place in the last 8 years?

Why did he shoot the kid? I mean, what motivated him? Can't understand how an adult male might perceive a 5yr old as a threat. Was it an accident?
No accident. He walked up to the kid while he was playing in his yard and shot him at point blank range.

More than 10 studies showing voter fraud is miniscule and is not exclusive to mail-in.
How do you explain the above then? A lady getting a ballot for her dead cat.....?

I think things involving death are typically given a little more gravity and with good cause.

No, it was a reasonable question. To expand I don't think we should ignore the miniscule amount that does happen but we should use evidence to ground the problem in a real world context.

So the death of Floyd (or any other criminal) will have no impact on the world. He was not going to cure cancer, create peace in the Middle East, find they fountain of youth, or rescue children from starvation. He was a drug riddled bum. His loss was a zero impact. An election can have a lasting impact for generations to come. It is extremely important and shouldn’t just be shrugged off and accepted as a margin of error.

It’s not minuscule. We could literally put links up and hear anecdotal evidence all day, all week, and possibly all year long. Do you think the stereotype of dems cheating is based on fantasy? I can’t remember a time in my lifetime of not hearing about dems cheating during elections. Ever.

Lots to read through here, and just playing devil's advocate - the first "study" (some of these appear to be more journalism than "studies" and lack peer review) from Columbia University has the following evidence presented:

38 Reported Cases for Federal Prosecution.
14 cases that were not concluded to be fraud

This COULD be interpreted (again I admit I have more reading to do) as, "Most of the reported cases of fraud are real." Since 24 out of 38 seem to be real. The issue may just be that we aren't vigilant enough and it is hard to uncover the fraud...

Now that first part, THAT was a strawman.

Both sides say the other side cheats and I believe both do. You've been hearing about Dems doing it because you talk to people who don't like Dems.

So I’m still dying to hear how mail in voting will create less fraud. I’m also dying to know why after a couple hundreds of years of using polls that we now need to do mail in voting. This reeks of cheating and how bad the dems are pushing for this raises my suspicions even more.

I have to draw a line in saying any life is not going to have an impact on the world. For one thing, there is no way of knowing that. Just because someone is a drug user today doesn't mean they don't become an inspiration to someone tomorrow, or have a kid, or push someone out of the way of a moving vehicle.

I can agree that he may have been a bum, and he may have OD'd and his case is not nearly as tragic as Cannon. But your standard of measuring impact may be a little bit high.

How many of us on this board are going to cure cancer, create peace anywhere, or rescue children from starvation?

The value of human life has to be held to a high standard, and police have a duty to protect any person they put in handcuffs. In this case, I have doubts that the officers even killed him and I am guessing that will probably be part of the defense.

Floyd's life had a value, the situation was probably blown way out of proportion and a lot of people created a false narrative to benefit their own agendas. If anything, that may be a travesty against Floyd as well - his death has been used to move chess pieces.

I can agree....lots to read here and details can make a big difference. But I see lots of "studies" with questionable conclusions based on the evidence at hand. And given that their premise seems to be that most of the reported cases of fraud are false and alleged by the losing party - I'm not sure how most = 14 out of 38.

Ok I concede. I will upgrade his status to useful idiot.

As for the voting every vote matters and no instance of voter fraud should be acceptable. It is too easy to stop it just by simply verifying identity and citizenship and the dems are insistent on stopping that from happen. That means they intend on cheating. No other reason.

Yeah, I can agree there too - we should have a high standard of reliability. Not to go against someone on my own "team" here - but I don't think anyone on here is really arguing that fraud is OK, just questioning how prevalent it is. If we have 230M votes and 10 of them turn out to be fraudulent, is it below the standard? Yes. But in all reality it's probably as good as we can do, even though our standard should be 0.

Just like unjustified killings by police officers SHOULD be 0. But mistakes are going to happen and if out of 100M arrests or whatever the number is each year, there are 10 people killed...it may be the best we can do. It doesn't mean we shouldn't still strive for 0 and try to be better.

My issue is that a lot of people are using people's deaths, taken out of context, and turning it toward their own political agenda.

I think someone on here pointed out that there were 29 killings of black people by police officers in 2019. Well, so far this year we have Floyd, Rayshard Brooks, and a couple others. At this point we could have about 20 killings based on the data from last year, and they pick Floyd and Brooks as their basis for police brutality. Both of these killings, based on the body cam footage, seem to be justified. Now, if you're trying to make a claim that police brutality against black people is out of control and there are only 30 cases a year, and the cases that hit the news appear to be justifiable - doesn't that kind of hurt your case?

And the very people acting like they are looking out for these people are the ones creating the divide, using these deaths to their advantage, and creating more deaths. A minimum of 8 black people have died during burglaries, protests, rioting linked to BLM in the last couple of months. This exceeds the number of killings by police officers if you believe the statistics above.

And some of those people were "peacefully protesting" and maybe it was anti-BLM idiots that killed those people, or maybe the BLM rioters who turned on their own group, I don't know.

What if those 10 cases of fraud involved thousands of ballots. Remember bush vs gore was determined by just 500 votes. Is it unreasonable to think that fraud could have changed the outcome of that election. What would the US look like if the founder of the internet became president?

I can obviously agree that is different. I'm saying 10 votes.

And it is funny, back in the day Gore ran around saying he was responsible for the internet and, while it was a joke, it was fine for him to say and acceptable. If Trump said that, he would be such a narcissistic crackpot.

I am aware. He has not made any secret about not wanting mail in votes. I know everyone thinks this must have an evil motive - because no liberal would ever cheat - but he may actually be right. But right or wrong he believes there is voter fraud and he believes the post office is incompetent and with those beliefs as a base - what would you think of a man who was supposed to uphold the validity if an election who said, "Fine, who cares?"
He is being asked by a Judge to provide evidence to his claim that voter fraud is rampant enough. "Legal scholars from both parties, and nonpartisan experts, acknowledge that there is no widespread fraud in US elections".

If he makes a claim, he needs to provide the evidence. This is the basics of burden of proof. It applies to everyone, not just Trump. There is numerous research that states voter fraud is not rampant, and he is yet to provide ANY that it is. Had he said "And here is my evidence", then we wouldn't be having this discussion.

Otherwise he can make up any claim and then hide behind it: "Oh the sniffer dogs will eat all the votes", "The post van might crash, catch on fire and burn up all the votes", It might rain and get the votes all soggy" etc. Then if we just reapply your logic of "he believes there is voter fraud" to these claims, then pretty much ANY belief he holds is enough weighting in your view to invalidate the entire system, simply because he BELIEVES it.

My nephew believes in Santa. That doesn't make it true. That's not evidence.

On the matter of the PO: it also cannot be substantiated that it has 'messed up' when a congressional mandate is the cause of it. Every one, again, is sinking their teeth into Trumps unsubstantiated claims that they are losing money because of Amazon etc, but again, he is not providing evidence of that. Breaking Even is what you'd expect a govt service like the PO to be achieving. Most services led by the govt are not meant to generate revenue, but rather provide a service where the costs are covered by that service.

A FedEx quote to deliver a letter from Pine Island NY to Herkimer NY costs $9.87. USPS charges $0.35. Be careful about what you wish for. Lots of rural communities rely on the post, and this is one way to make things very difficult for them.

Real question: Why are Trump claims exempt from the burden of proof? Why do we care more about Gingseng having 100 human studies backing its efficacy than we do about potentially dangerous claims designed to undermine the way in which people cast their vote? Why do we jump down the throats of people on this forum parroting bro-science, asking them to provide evidence for their claims when we don't apply that logic into far more important matters? This doesn't make sense to me.

I mean, the US has invaded countries over unsubstantiated claims made by Presidents in the past. Iraq has been flattened because Bush said they had weapons of mass destruction. When will we hold the claims of those who lead us to a greater standard that we hold the bro-sciencers of this forum?

To make it simple.....people can go to Walmart, the grocery store, and protest....but the Dems want to vote by mail. It’s BS. There’s not a good enough reason. There’s enough early voting polls across the country that aren’t so busy you have to wait in line.

No valid reason has been given.
Yes, there has been. But again, any reason a Dem gives is not valid in your eyes, but luckily,
After repeatedly seeking to discredit mail-in voting, President Donald Trump on Tuesday claimed Florida's election system is "safe and secure" and encourages Floridians to vote by mail.

Trump adds: "Florida's Voting system has been cleaned up (we defeated Democrats attempts at change), so in Florida I encourage all to request a Ballot & Vote by Mail!"

"Yet Florida has allowed voters to cast mail ballots without an excuse for well over a decade, since 2002. And traditionally, it's been Republicans who have benefited from that policy". Pot calling kettle lol.

So is this the time where all Trumpets change their minds?

So is this the time where all Trumpets change their minds?
No a reason hasn’t been given. You still seem to be confused about the difference between mail in and absentee voting. There are valid reasons for absentee. There are NO valid reasons for mail in.

To make it simple.....people can go to Walmart, the grocery store, and protest....but the Dems want to vote by mail. It’s BS. There’s not a good enough reason. There’s enough early voting polls across the country that aren’t so busy you have to wait in line.
It's an option, that is all.

You might find the majority still vote at polling stations where they can. You also might not, but its still a legal option.
Do you not understand the difference begween "mail in voting" and "absentee voting"????
One is just no-excuse absentee voting and the other excuse based absentee voting. Florida has allowed no excuse absentee voting since 2002.

They will mail in all their pets ballots, their dead grandmas ballot, and the previous 4 tenants ballots that were sent there. Then they will get on the democrat provided bus and vote in 6 different polling stations.

Except there is. And its lawful. No use crying about it. People are allowed to do it, and they are requesting ballots in the hundreds of thousands.

Get ready for Biden 2020 :O
