Well, that certainly puts a new twist on things. It’s rather disturbing that Dr. Fauci was involved in giving a 3.7 million dollar grant to the Wuhan laboratory back in 2015.

This article (including some apparently official documents) is rather incriminating in regard to what happened in the Wuhan laboratory. The last document is apparently a resume of a Dr. Shi, that shows she was ”researching” coronavirus as recently as 12/24/2019. There is obviously no question it leaked from there, yet Dr. Fauci dismisses it.

When they do come out with a “vaccine,” I will likely feel more uneasy about receiving that than getting the virus itself. As a healthcare worker, I will definitely be required to receive one first. I don’t envision anyone else being given much of a choice in the matter either. That’s a rather scary thought in itself..

That is still far away from us though, so maybe some truths will emerge before that point that will change our approach.

if they do come out with a vaccine they better be damned sure it is safe, or many people will never trust them again.

In my eyes, you can’t test an entirely new vaccine for a few months and call it safe for the longterm. I’m not an anti-vaxxer, but there are some that have stood the test of time for safety, while others have been recalled/taken off the market.

I agree with you in regards to the vaccine and potential safety issues from rushing its development and safety testing. I’m also more than likely going to be required to get it for my job once it comes out (edit: if it does)...so, I feel you on your reservations.

However I do not condone the support of an antivaxxing fraudulent pseudoscientist in the woman who created the Plandemic documentary. We, more than ever, need to be very careful on who we listen to as ignorance literally has the potential to kill or cause significant morbidity in the long term. I don’t have a great answer on who exactly to trust as there isnt a great deal of objective data out there, but I do think its fairly easy to determine who most likely shouldnt be trusted - she and “Dr.” Buttar being two of them.

At my last physical I politely refused a flu shot. My doctor treated me like I was insane and repeatedly tried to pressure me into it. I can't imagine the pressure that will come with the coronavirus vaccine.

Yes, I definitely take what she claims with a grain of salt. I was mostly surprised to find out about Dr Fauci’s funding of the lab in Wuhan which has apparently had a shady history for years to begin with. I think one of the biggest problems is that we don’t know who to listen to. We have all these organizations and experts who put on a show of being an “expert” in regard to something we have never seen. Shyt, I could pretend to be an expert on this.

Unless things change in the meantime, I picture it being mandatory for everyone who wants to participate in society.

Bing-friggin-go. We havent seen anything like this before. Its uncharted territory. People dont get that collecting real data and analyzing it to the point where it actually means something by it becoming actionable takes a great deal of time. We didnt have time. There wasnt the data to allow for that to happen. So now you have all these conspiracy folks coming out of the woodwork acting like they truly know everything thats going on and bingo people have what they want - answers. They just dont stop to consider how full of S those people who provided them may be.

If a vaccine is released it cannot be proven safe if it was just invented. No1 would know what happens 10, 15, 20 years after you take it. I'm not anti vaccine at all. I just want to know the long term results. Unless it's something that builds muscle, then I just worry later lol

I don't think they will come up with a vaccine that gives permanent immunity, rather it will be like a flu shot, ongoing yearly shots to keep up with mutation...this really should concern people over long term effects.

Holy smokes. What’s interesting is that my state (VA) is planning on phased opening starting next Friday. Some of the gyms in my association will open with strict protocols, followed by a few more 2 weeks later, and the last few a couple weeks later. But the amount of new cases in the association’s main area jumped the past week. While NY is past the peak, it seems we are in the peak and about to reopen. Unless there’s data I don’t have (which easily could be true), it just doesn’t make sense to me.

Enough of your fear mongering BS dude. Your numbers are falsely elevated by a good 30k.. nearly 70% elevated

Find a legitimate source, maybe the CDC.gov

I've looked at multiple places for these numbers and there all different, lots of them ranging from less then 1%-3.4%

I don't really know what's what but I definitely believe that there are deaths wrongly recorded as coronavirus being the cause. I know for a fact in my state there are a few death reported wrongly. There's a guy that comes into my cousin's restruant for years on one of those breathing machines. He's been on the brink of death for a few years. "Cystic fibrosis" he died from coronavirus, but he didn't. They reported another case saying first infant to die from coronavirus around here. It was sids.

I'm going to guess, no.

A lot are being under reported as well.
Just like back in "1917" ... 50-200 mil died of Spanish Flu...

How about we say, a lot of people are dying, and it's too many, too fast.

what percentage of that mortality rate were otherwise healthy individuals?

you could say that a guy who died playing basketball that playing basketball was reason he died, if you neglected to mention the underlying heart condition he may not of even be aware of.

I want to give healthcare 'experts' credit here...they are putting out infomercials stressing that although otherwise healthy younger people may not be very affected by covid 19, if they don't follow protocols they are putting other more at risk peoples lives in danger...I like seeing this.

now if only these experts would recommend policy makers enact mandatory wearing of masks in public places

Here is the counter argument, and a pretty reasoned article, in response to all this hype about the PLANDEMIC video making the rounds.

https://bigthink.com/coronavirus/the-plandemic

A quick observation - if the government will kill or imprison or do anything to stop this lady from speaking.. and here she is speaking.... it kind of undermines the whole claim about an all powerful government doing everything to stop her. No?

NY antibody testing is the latest greatest info on covid fatality rate. Results thus far put the real number now at 0.5% or a little higher. Still a HEFTY figure, if you think what 0.5% of 200 million population (herd immunity levels) would mean!

https://www.livescience.com/covid-antibody-test-results-new-york-test.html

**Points worth noting - they never did this same total canvassing to find every single person that had the flu, so if done the same way, the real flu fatality rate would also drop way below the often quoted 0.1% too. If talking apples to apples.

The random NY testing were people found out and about in supermarkets. And its reasonable to think those walking around were more likely exposed to the virus, elevating infection rate (lowering fatality rate some) but while not perfect its the best data available right now.

In these figures, they use the current covid death count... but people die slowly so even with a given fixed infection number at a given time, more of those people will eventually wind up dying, so the true fatality rate for any current number infected will be a little higher than published.

He's been at the point where he could die any day for God knows how long. When you get to the point that your lungs are working at <10%, yes it's very possible he could have died that day regardless.

SIDS is defined as sudden death in an infant without an identifiable cause on autopsy. If they did an autopsy and found signs of covid it literally cannot be SIDS.

You are correct, but the parents are saying they were told nothing about the baby having covid, it was after the fact that someone put a headline on whatever saying that infant dies of covid. I don't know all the details on this this so I can't talk further then that.

Well, that certainly puts a new twist on things. It’s rather disturbing that Dr. Fauci was involved in giving a 3.7 million dollar grant to the Wuhan laboratory back in 2015.

I don't think its odd at all for Fauci to be involved with a research grant to the Wuhan lab. Fauci was working with SARS. SARS originated in China. China has a lab, scientists, and a ****-ton of bats. SARS happened, based on a coronavirus. Seems like a good place, among others, to do scientific research on the SARS/coronavirus and bats to better understand this virus because it happened once it will likely happen again.

And it happened again. Even worse. But I believe the Wuhan lab accident story... based on their scientists and lab security not being as good as they think.... and china wanting to cover it up so that we don't all know they are not as good as they think.

Actually I stand by my original numbers: (Adjusted by Johns Hopkins)

1,240,513 Confirmed cases
74,852 Deaths Confirmed

That demonstrates a current mortality rate of 6%
One can argue all they want, so where is all that testing if anyone can get tested when they want?
It's been stated already, even at 1% that's 3,200,000 deaths if permitted to go unchecked.

The Spanish Flu is the closest parallel and that claimed about 675,000 Americans
They had 3 waves.

We will have at least several.

Gotta look at the numbers apples to apples, for the numbers to have meaning.
So yes, of those who got sick... went to the doctor... got confirmed as covid... and eventually died - that number is at least 6% (since many of those cases have not finished dying). In comparison, the number of people who go the common flu... went to the doctor... got confirmed as influenza... and eventually died - that number is 0.1%

There are absolutely millions of more people walking around with covid (and the flu every year) who never got tested, recovered fine, and whose survival isn't factored in the fatality rate at all. The only way to begin to know how many more people are out there who have already been infected with covid (or the flu) and survived is with an antibody blood test. And knowing the full range of virus spread, and the measured total infected, will give a truer more accurate fatality rate for the covid (or flu).

This NY study is pretty good. Did you read it? Any comment or criticism? Sure, eventually tests will be more widespread and available (if that is again a subtle political dig??) we are kind of in the middle of a global pandemic and economic meltdown right now.

But the best available data seems to put the true covid death rate between 1% - 0.5%. And yeah, that could spread across almost the entire country, but not 320 million. It would reach herd immunity levels long before that and stop on its own. Still big numbers, still bad.

I think its clear now that we can't use the lockdown approach long enough to ever outlast and get through the current situation. Even if we were in absolute total lockdown for all of April, May, June--- come July we would start right where we left off. Virus still out there, starting right where it left off. Only way to stop it is herd immunity or vaccine (with questionable safety and duration) and along the way employ all we learned about social distancing and hygeine, and maybe get better with treatments and new medicines.

It’s interesting in the UK.

there is talk of starting to ease the restrictions as we are past the peak.

however

this view of needing to maintain social distancing is far more impactful on the economy than people realise. For example, cafes may be allowed to open with outdoor seating only and 2m gaps - capacity will be significantly decreased. Likewise any restaurant. Shops have to limit customers

all of that throws a typical business operating model out of the window - any business that relies on volume (I.e most) will have to increase prices to maintain margin. Why would people pay more to physically shop when they can online order? Why would you pay twice as much to eat in a restaurant when you can cook at home?

offices will have additional cleaning costs and floor plans now have to show greater gaps so you need more office space for the same heads - costs go up and so do prices. In any industry that’s a threat but especially in B2C when a recession is coming.

combine the above with the fact that in the uk survey after survey shows a majority of people are scared about going out still. This makes sense. We never breached critical care capacity at any time so the fatality risk is the same now as it has always been. If your worried about the virus now you still are next month and the month after that (only a vaccine or improved treatment strategies changes this).

so telling businesses and shops they can open is one thing but the economic impact will still be massive, businesses will fail all over the place because the custom will not be there. Unemployment will spike badly. This will happen now, that’s almost certain.

so ‘ending the lockdown’ does not solve the problem in many ways. I think the world has changed now for many sectors and we’ll need to embrace that change to survive.

INDIANA REOPENED...stores were fcking packed, probably less than half wearing masks and a ton of illinois plated cars in parking lots.

Indiana hasn't been hit nearly as hard as neighboring states, but look for that to change, wouldn't surprise meif Indiana is next hot spot.

so you finally agree with me that REQUIRING face masks not just recommending is the route we should have taken at least 2 months ago?
Youre putting a lot of words in my mouth and inferring a lot of info based on me posting a graph. I dont disagree with you about masks and I never have (as far as I remember), fwiw.

Im not going to get back into the discussion you’re trying to get me into any more than saying, again, medical providers make recommendations and the cdc has made a pretty clear recommendation. They dont make laws.

but they do make recommendations...and they should be ashamed of themselves for not recommending MANDATORY masks in public places 2 months ago...according to graph you posted the way those other countries did containment was REQUIRING masks in public places, if the usa is suffering more than those other countries guess who I blame?

Probably not the very questionable actions of millions of US citizens completely disregarding both social distancing recommendations as well as the mouth covering recommendations that came out over 2 months and 1 month ago respectively, right?

Probably THE DEMS!

get the f*ck outta here, republicans have just as much blame in this game---but it was not politicians making recommendations on tv everyday, it was the so called experts and not one of them were recommending making masks MANDATORY and you damned well know it....

your defense that medical experts don't make policy is a piece of shyt argument.....they make the recommendations and they failed to make the recommendation that masks be mandatory.

just for clarification-you are a part of the medical community-correct?

I figured the 😉 would portray the fact that I was joking with you lol.

If you are an American citizen and havent heard the recommendation for social distancing, cloth face coverings, and hand hygiene you have been living under a rock or purposely not paying attention. Everyone knows the recommendations. They CHOOSE not to follow them.

That’s irrelevant to the discussion, but no im currently not employed in the medical field.

I ain't looking for no damned recommendations, or suggestions...the countries in graph you post had containment by REQUIRING MASKS BE WORN. are the medical experts in this country so stupid they don't realize thIs is what we HAVE to do to get containment in this country?

you made my point for me, if we leave it at recommendation or suggestion probably 40-50% of americans won't comply...other countries have medical experts who figured this out long ago--are the medical experts in THIS country that much dumber than medical experts in those other countries?

eventually we will have to REQUIRE masks to reach containment, but look at the cost of not doing this much, much sooner!!!
