Hyde’s Strength Odyssey

Shoulda done some carries with that sucker between sets! Slacker.

Crazy its been 15 mo since your bicep injury. Doesn’t feel like that much time has gone by at all.

Lol Sam Byrd didn’t become an ATWR by doing trapbar carries! I stuck to the program. Besides the ground is rutted and I was barefoot - I actually am doing these pulls uneven, but I don’t have anywhere totally flat that can take 500+lb lol.

I was being sarcastic but i dont think that came through very well lol.

No I know I just wanted to convey how weird it is pulling in the grass on that mat even! But it’s really neat when the weather is nice like this morning.

Scored a pair of 35s and a bunch of thinner change, all for $35. Pretty rusty, gonna buy a bunch of cola tomorrow and soak them down and see what they look like after. Maybe give em a Rustoleum dressing.

Including a pair or two of York 5’s

Good day, building the base. Beautifully sunny this morning and got to sit out with the wife on the porch swing after training and a cold diet Mt Dew

Got all the rusty plates in a big tub of cola soaking the rust off now! Bigger plates will need to go in tomorrow when I take out the littles to scrub. 8x2 liters only covers so much at once lol

Cola never worked for me. Oxalic acid works 4-5 tablespoons in a gallon of water.

Knocked 3 min 45 sec off the CAT squats! Deadlifts felt pretty good considering the plates had dug over an inch deficit by the 465 set.

Another beautiful afternoon. We just got a mated pair of ducks that showed up in our creek; the spring wildlife game is getting strong here! So now we’re feeding ducks, robins, chippies, starlings, squirrels, raccoons, ground hog, o’possum, and the odd stray cat off the back porch.

Woke up at 236.6, 0.8lbs less than 6 days ago, so things are moving in the right direction. Today is a PSMF, and started the day with a fasted 30 min walk in the sunshine on the ephedrine/caff/choline stack. Going to have a cheat meal with family for Easter tomorrow, but going to be measured with it so it can work in my favor.

Trying to get more sunshine in daily.

You doing 1000 kcal 1g/lb lbm (edit: of protein) for the PSMF? Thinking of throwing this kind of day in once a week as well. Was gonna just do a 24 hour fast and have dinner but I think itd be easier for me to get all the protein in with more of a PSMF set up instead.

Yeah like 4x50g shakes, keeping total carbs from them under 30 like normal days.

Tbh, I’m not wholly convinced the body isn’t more muscle-sparing when actually truly fasting completely vs PSMF. Just trying this old diet from Jamie Lewis from 2012 I was interested in then but never had the balls to play with.

I've toyed with the idea of his diet. I'm interested in how you respond. I usually nuke carbs on my off-training days anyways.

Get you some, brother! It’s emotionally satisfying; the sun is rejuvenating.

Down to a new low of 235.4 this morning! So down ~10lbs in 3.5 weeks. I noticed my shoulder veins becoming more noticeable last night. The bodyfat is slowly dropping off.

Picked up our 13” deadlift blocks last night, so we trained at the closed gym while there. Body took a long time to really get warmed up - bench felt like trash until 255. My wife’s deadlift day is a marathon, so I slowed my training pace down a lot.

Whats the plan of attack for building her pull?

Whats the plan of attack for building her pull?

Eh, she’s in off-time and will be for the foreseeable future. She’s been doing very high rep, off-season hypertrophy stuff the last month. Which she understandably hated but kept her safe and gave her joints a breather. No events beyond a few light carries like sandbag, Husa, farmers thrown in. Her programming even now isn’t focused on the deadlift at all, BUT we will either modify it or make her coach change it because that’s all she really cares about at this point. She pulled up to a max barbell single at 360 from 13” last night, then down sets for volume at 80,70,60%. We have been putting speed floor work on any weeks he doesn’t have a pull programmed. The SAID principal always applies after all.

Snow last night meant the yard was too muddy to deadlift, so I waved the squat intensity up a phase and hit some good mornings & abs instead. Good intensity in this session.

Fasting today, no calories at all. Not fun but at least it was beautiful out, nearly 60 and breezy so got a great walk in with the wife. Tomorrow is refeed

I try to get some electrolytes in, and anything essentially calorie free is game. Had a piece of gum and a No Sugar Mt Dew, couple cups of green tea, some preWO, fat burner, pseudoephedrine, a couple Nuun tabs, a cap of mag, a serving of Morton lite - hardly roughing it; just making a huge deficit. Just always impossible to sleep when I fast. Stayed up till midnight and still tossed til past 2am, then up before 8am lol.

New low of 234.0 this morning. Down from last week’s low of 236.6!

Just completely ran out of gas by 385 on trapbar. 455 felt way heavier than it should, so I took the hint and shut it down. Working up to 315 before adding another 10lbs to my rep work on fronts definitely cost something. Glad I didn’t keep working up further, but this was still a big mental boost for me. Expected more strength and endurance after yesterday’s refeed, but I guess that’s just how natty keto dieting goes.

Looking at a USPA meet in 14 weeks in Chicago. Depending on how the Corona climate seems in a couple weeks, I may start a comp prep cycle. Until that time, will definitely continue the Cyclic Keto Diet and Basebuilding work. However, I will need to hammer my squat and bench these next 2 weeks to get them ramped up enough to even begin proper 5th Set training. Deadlift feels fine, but going to start doing some dedicated grip work.

Juice Daddy

Bostin Loyd helped design it lol - funny thing is while he’s known for his outrageous gear experimentation, everything with this seems perfectly balanced. Most stim preWOs are like trying to survive a heart attack, but damn I have taken this 3 times now and it’s so smooth. NO SIDES. No jitters, sweats, itches, elevated heart rate - very glad I pulled the trigger.

Started Assault Team Monday and that’s also been totally side-free, which is awesome for a product with Forskolin in it.

Plus it was all on sale for 25% off w/ code HOARD

Warmed up for squats slowly, and everything just felt very off. Left knee, right lower hamstring, shoulders and elbows. Did 45 minutes of tissue work, rolling, movement prep, core activation, a bit of stretching prior. Got to a point where I could squat the bar without pain but it felt heavy and my will to fight just wasn’t there - shelving this for Sunday, with carbs and more days of rest.

Found out right after I drank my preWO the in-laws were coming over in an hour to visit lol. But got a great dense squat session in at least. Waiting for carb up day was a terrific decision. 405 felt heavy to walk out but moved very fast. My knees/quad were still a little tender going into this so I am glad I gave them more time to recover - I am moving back to a once/micro squat model for safety’s sake.

They moved the meet I really wanted to do back to July 19. Same gym and meet director in Plainfield, IN that I did in December. 12 weeks from today.

I have been off-cycle for 20 - TWENTY - weeks. I am healthy and low risk for a dangerous response in the event I contract COVID-19, and I think if there was any point in the next 8 months to go on cycle and then PCT at all, it’s these next 4 months over summer. COVID is all but guaranteed to get even worse come fall (like all coronavirus) so waiting any longer to cycle is not ideal at this point. If I’m going to use, there’s no better time coming than the present as far as I can see.

Going to finish out this final 6th week of cyclic keto dieting with one last week of ramping up Base Building training. 5th Set, and competition prep, begins Monday ☠️

If you do get sick, hit your body with a TREMENDOUS amount of light.. and you *should* be fine. If not, maybe look into injecting some disinfectant.

But, I'm excited for you to see where this goes!

Well, today was a lesson: I am 100% limited on what I will deadlift at comp based on what I can accomplish with conditioning my skin and perfecting my hookgrip by then. I was extremely surprised and angered when 500 ripped my thumb skin totally off, as I felt I was being very diligent not to set the bar deep in my hands as well as focusing on taking the slack out of them. Still, I am determined to improve. If Cailer Woolam can hold 950lbs, surely there is more I can do to get my capacity up to 650.

On the bright side, 2 days after refeed I was only 0.2lbs up this morning from Sunday pre-refeed. So I am definitely continuing to lean out steadily.

Getting pre-cycle bloodwork Saturday morning since it’s been 12 weeks since last draw.

There was supposed to be upper back work after pulling and some smaller accessory but I lost my fight with my hand bleeding all over. Going to wrap it up and attack the bench tomorrow, then rest til post bloodwork.
