Yep some great work being done all over.....it’s hotting up!

Finally got caught up in here! You guys are doing great! Loving the pics and humor! Thong made for the best progress pics so far though!!!

Okay guys, I am making progress on leaning up very slowly but my carb escapades keep my weight fluctuatng bit. I haven't picked up cardio yet, and still mess up on diet enough to make a difference once or twice a week. I am gaining speed though and seem to be getting a very mild recomposition effect.

Muscles are just a little more full and a little more separated but weight was at 212.7 this morning. I think that is exactly where I started. The cake and ice cream from Trinity's birthday celebration brought the weight up but I can still see some leaning effects. Not as fast as they should be for a comp like this but it is moving in the right direction...

Looking good brother.
I'm coming off my decondition tomorrow. Joints are feeling good. Going to try to cut back on the lifting, get over my fear off losing muscle and find time for cardio.Just need to get into better shape at my age. If I want to look as good as Rocket3015 in 5 years.
I look like crap but it comes back pretty quick.Well we will see with cardio.

Studhorse, Thank you for the compliment, but you look pretty good buddy. Cardio is a necessary evil but the older we get the more we need to do it!

I will get some photos up ASAP. Last week was pretty hectic for me and things slipped just a little. I weighed in at 205.5 yesterday which is up about 0.6 pounds from last week it looks like. I actually hit 203.2 earlier in the week for a brief moment.

On the plus side I hit 265 x 15 and 295 x 5 on squats last night and 365 x 15 on deadlift the workout before so it is time for another bump in the weights...more than a 10 pound gain in each since the beginning of this and will probably be a solid 20 pound gain in the next week or two.

My bench (as I should have anticipated) is sticking. My upper body just doesn't respond the same as my lower body. I got 14 x 185 on the bench last night and 3 x 235 after that. That is just creeeeeping forward. I threw in 3 negative only reps with 265 at the end just to try to force more stimulation in. I was actually surprised at how long I could fight the 265 after doing the drop set before.

I also got about 13-14 miles in on the treadmill this week. I can burn between 550-630 calories in an hour vs. 450 when I started. Goal is to eventually get to 1000 calories/hour which will be around 7 mph held stready for the full 60 minutes.

Like it so far, almost through my first bottle. Glad I got 2 bottles

I was constantly telling Matt about my issues with supernova. I got a couple bottles of Hypernova and the product is definitely a HUGE improvement from a useability standpoint and it is ready for prime time.

You might try incorporating some speed work into the chest training to help get things moving.

Great stuff bro, deadlifts in particular really strong.

7 mph for 60 mins would be awesome. I run a lot (and people think I’m pretty quick for a lifter) - I can get just below 8mph for that sort of time but nowhere near 7.....as your speeds increase it’ll spur me on as well

You guys that do distances I have a lot of respect for. I am just not good at distance running. I can get better at it but I hate it so working on it is very hard for me.

I lift 5 days a week along with treadmill, I run outdoors 1 day on the weekends 5 miles Usually takes between 45 55 minutes. I feel that 5 mile run more than any workout during the week

We have a service writer at work who is an extreme runner she ran a 100 mile race a few years ago, she also ran a 24 hour race and covered 78 miles. I think she might be nuts !!

Yeah, but if you asked her if she would go through 5 months of prep for a bodybuilding contest she would probably think that is crazy. Hell I have only done it once and I am pretty sure it was crazy! :)

I did a little extra activity at lunch, 1 hour of walking up the 12 floors of ramps then back down the stairs to start all over again. I did almost four trips total, and added in about 5 minutes of calve stretches. If I can manage these little walks at least 3 times a week things should get moving regarding weight loss. I am not considering this cardio at this point. Just activity as it isn't even on the level of LISS. I might be walking 2.5-3MPH tops.

I also worked on my posture the whole time as well as really focusing on keeping my core tight and hips aligned to keep an even gait. Focusing on this is going to be key for me to condition myself to the point I feel comfortable trying to do any sort of distance running.

I am going to consider this now...thank you sir!

Not sure I understand - you can get just below 8 MPH but not 7??? 8 MPH is faster than 7...

But if I can go from being a sh1tty runner to pushing you...I'm all for it. I am gonna be on your heals brother!

I absolutely SUCK at running. That's it. I am lousy at it. I am slow, it hurts all over, it hurts to breath, I can't keep it up. It's probably the most miserable experience I can imagine. I'd go to the dentist. If I can keep this up for more than a couple months and make a habit out of it, it will be a real accomplishment.

I hear you on this. Running leaves me so stiff and sore. And the best I can do is about 4-4.25 miles in 1 hour.

I KNOW she MUST be nuts.

2.5-3 MPH is actually not too bad IMO. That's what I'm doing. I focus on walking at 3 MPH which I can do with minimal effort (after an hour I will be a little stiff) - but that gets boring so I turn up the speed to about 5-6 MPH and do that for some amount of time and then go back to the 3 MPH and just push myself when I feel ready. I've gotten, pretty quickly, to the point where I can run at 5 MPH for about 15 minutes. I expect that will just keep getting better. The problem is that once I do something - like run 15 minutes without a break at 5 MPH - I come back the next day and have to be willing to not do it again. Sometimes it just takes time and I don't want to push so hard it impacts my lifting.

Did you do the deadlifts in one go? 365 x15 sounds crazy strong to me.

Yes, 1 set. Last couple reps require a couple extra breaths between reps.

Dang! Strong, you are a strong mofo...

Maybe 1 day

Lmao...Deads are the ONLY exercise I can keep up with you guys on. But that's because you guys don't do them. Haha. If you did, you would probably think I had no muscle there too.

I did 4 x 395 after that. Grip tends to fail though at that point.

My all time record I think was 425 x 5.

Any compound for 15 reps definitely requires some willpower to push through! Breeds mental toughness

Yes. I start my workouts with squats or deads, first working set is 15 reps. I literally fear the beginning if those sets. Just starting them takes a lot of prep.

Lol, I’d had a long day and completely got that wrong. I was talking in terms of time per mile rather than pace. As in I run 8 min miles (which now I work it out means I run 7.5 mph) - my bad

I wish I had Found Powerlifting in my younger years I think I would have enjoyed it.

Were those deads touch and go or did you stop and reset in between each one? Definitely a nice set either way.

Oh yeah...definately resetting between each rep.

Nice! That is actually more impressive to me. I can bang out a set of 20 with 315 on touch and go and pretty much just get winded, but 20 without the bounce... Not so easy...

Hip up about a 90 minute combo conditioning and mobility workout last night. Was awesome, and unconventional. I wrote about it in my log.

Yeah, I can't imagine bouncing to be honest. I also control the decent at least to a small degree, except on the very last rep. I know some people disagree with that, but it is how I've always done it.

But to be bouncing and throwing that much weight around...for one I would hurt myself, but for two it seems like it would be harder. It probably requires more actual force and I am just not geared to do it. If I saw someone telling out that much weight without taking a pause between each rep, I'd be in awe.

But mostly, I grind every rep but try to reset and make sure form is as good as I can.

I will get to your log today!

Oh, and as far as weight goes - the last few days have been VERY strange. So, last week I hit around 203.5 give or take on Wed. Then I started slowly gaining for some reason. On Sunday I was back up around 205.5 which was actually an increase from the week before. As of yesterday I think I was up around 207, which is almost where I started!!!!!!

Obviously that had me a bit bummed and I was really kind of wondering what was going on. My diet isn't all that strict right now - at least not in my eyes - but I haven't been going way beyond anything. I bet my worst day was probably 2500 calories.

This morning though, I woke up and I was back down to 203.5. Literally around 3+ pounds lost since yesterday with no real reason. I guess I was just holding some water of course - but slow diets can really mess with your head.

This happens to me too. My theory is, ions released from depleting fat cells cause fluid retention.

Back in the gym yesterday! felt good to be back after 10 days off! Old Joints feel pretty good. Weight 208.2 not bad for a 10 day decondition.
I managed 20 flights on the stair climber and walked at 3.5speed at a 4 incline on the treadmill for 10 min. I was done. Damn this is sad. I could tell I haven't done cardio in 20 years!

I had a kidney stone that was a little tough to get out a few days ago. I kind of slouched on my water. Back up to 2 gal a day and you can tell. Holding water but nice and hydrated.

Yes. This is the theory Lyle MacDonald has kind of too...fat cells fill with water as they deplete and you stall on the weight loss until one day it flushes out. But in this case I was actually gaining weight, which is a real bummer, and then flushed back to the bottom weight I was at.

Still...it is just the scale and is just one tool for measuring.

Do you ever take potassium citrate if you get kidney stones?
