Kat and Puccah's Strong is the new sexy log

I tore the same one twice and squatting any more than "play weight" is put. I'll just add 20-40lbs to the bar and try to do 25-35 of perfect form and strength does go up but not like normal squatting-more of a protective exercise.
Been doing some research on stretching certain muscles and hip joints and all that good stuff. Damn good if you take it slow.

And btw you can out lift my arse any day of the week so just keep killing it, you're one strong ass chica.

Oh yeah- merry Christmas all. I didn't do much but sleep so I kinda forgot everyone was celebrating. Hope all of the members had a decent Christmas.
And my best wishes to big S, I know that the holiday was not so fun for that person.

Did you have surgery to repair yours?

Taking this week off the gym and man is it hard! Lol I am thoroughly enjoying the time with family and extra rest but I’m itching to get back already!

We did have an amazing Christmas though! Surprised my daughter with her first car and son got a remote control boat to play with in the lake. We did a scavenger type hunt for the gifts and that was a lot of fun! We are not traveling this year but my little sister did drive out from Arkansas to see us. Very excited to have her here!

How was the rest of your week off? Sounds like it was a very pleasant break for you! Happy 2018!

It was awesome! Thoroughly enjoyed the break! Was way too slack but back at it now! First workout was Tuesday and have trained everyday since then. Strength is down a bit after the time off. Nice and sore from my workouts though! Tuesday I was able to stay later due to the kids still being out of school so I did some tabata and 20 mine on the stairs after my workout.

Have been debating running some follidrone or something. Wanting to continue to lean out. What do you guys think?

Glad you enjoyed your break.
I have always enjoyed my breaks. The weird thing was I was really stiff and and some of my old injuries bothered me about a week into my 10 days off.

Back in the gym since Sunday night and already feeling better. been trying to catch a cold or something. I'm keeping it under control but I can tell it wants to take hold.

My oldest daughter ran FD2 for 12 weeks and really liked it. She was asking me the other day if I know of any deals. She was going to make another run. (she is a crossfitter) I told her when she destroys her body let me know and she can hit the gym with me and her mom. lol

Now now now, crossfit done right is an amazing stuff, and is no more dangerous than any other competitive sport or the training for them. If your daughter has great form and does things right there is no reason to expect any more injuries to her than you with your lifting, or her being on a volleyball team for that matter... Let's not promote the fitness prejudice, we are all in the same game... trying to make physical improvements via hard work and consistency. Remember... "Fitnessism" hurts everyone! Don't be a fitnessist! ;)

I was surprised how stiff and achey I was as well! Hip has actually been bothering me a lot lately!

Colds and the flu have been bad around here. Thankfully I’ve stayed well so far! How are you feeling now?

Haha that’s good to know! I actually just ordered some as well as Exotherm to stack with it as well! It’s a light enough AI that I can use it to help aid in my cut for a little while.

My friend is so awesome. I told him that I wanted to get back into lifting heavy and he surprised me with these. He knows I love chalk...

It was kind of weird. Usually I feel great when I take some time off to rebuild and recharge the batteries.

Thanks for asking...I'm feeling better! got lucky and stopped it in its path.

FD2 & Exotherm stack! You should really like this. FD2 takes a while to kick in visually, Exotherm kicks in pretty fast for me.

I love mine! I never take them off. you can use them for any push or pull exercises. Helps with grip, easy to use, plus you get a little wrist support.
over time you will figure out all kinds of ways to use them.
I actually bought a knock off called cobra grips. had them for over 2 years and not even close to wearing them out.

Chalk is awesome too but these are great for higher volume workouts where you want to kill the body part and know that the wrist or grip will not limit you from doing that. They are also great if you have a bit of pain in the elbows and dont want to stop training things that require a lot of grip. I often don't use mine until I notice issues in my elbows then use them to be able to train while allowing them to recover.

For pulling put the bar between you palm and the flap then tuck the flap under your palm to tighten simply twist the bar like you are turning the throttle on a motorcycle and regrip. You will be able to hold far more than you would ever be able to with just chalk. The only limit is the strength of the prime movers.

For pressing do the opposite, put the pad between your hand and the bar push the lip of the pad over the bar, roll forward to tighten a little and grip then when you press and your hand rotates back the tension from the flap will support your wrist like wraps do.

I pretty much never use mine for pressing though.

Wow!!! That was very nice!! Let me know how you like them!
They are amazeballs!!!! Especially for long weighted carries with heavy weight that your grip would limit you from.

I have a set of both. I lost my versas and got the cobras then found my versas. I still like the versa better but they both work extremely well!!!! I wouldn't say that I like the versa enough to say they are worth 35-40% more than the cobras though... my versas were $50 and my cobras were $30.

Never had the Versa's. If I ever wear them out I will get a pair of versa's.

I use to only use straps on deads or shrugs sometimes. I always thought they were for pusses.

Now that I have used them for over 2 years my elbow and wrist pain is no more. At my age I have to put the ego away and look at longevity.
When I can't lift I become depressed.

I will. I feel a bit intimidated because I don’t feel like a lifter anymore. ?

Btw, IF is working great. Dropped a few lbs already in just 3 days.

I'm a big fan of IF. Not sure if it actually makes a difference or not, but the timing works better for me schedule wise.

And I've been looking at getting some straps. Arthritis has shown up in the knuckles on my right hand, which has really affected my grip. Getting old sucks

Straps are a God Sent as you age !!

This morning is a little harder since I’m running around doing things. :(

I feel you! I always feel like I have tendinitis in my elbows after training my triceps. Getting older is not too bad, lol, I still feel kinda young. ?

That’s one of the things I like most about it! The smaller window makes it easier to eat less calories too!

Lol oooooorr we have higher pain tolerance?!

Do you have any pics you're willing to share?
WTH?

You are young !!
Thank you, Rocket. Some days, I feel like I’m old enough to be someone’s grandma. Lol

Are you going to post progress pics?
Maybe someday. I want to stay discreet because of work.

Haha, women def have higher pain tolerance.

I want to lose at least 20 lbs by April. If everything goes well, I will be starting the surrogate process for my sister. Fingers cross. ??

IF is great when done correctly but the main benefits really come down to lifestyle. You get more convenience, and also more calorically dense food options which makes it attractive and much easier to be compliant with. I would say those are the main benefits of IF as most people do it. Many people do not actually fast long enough to enjoy the more life extending principles of it. Especially those focusing on muscle growth.

You're still young but once it starts it seems like it snowballs for a bit while you have to learn to adjust training to recovery levels.

You can definitely do that. I have seen you lose 20lbs in less time than that. :)

Here’s today’s workout. Short and sweet. I am getting use to the time crunch and am able to get a good workout in that 45 mins ...but some days I sure miss the higher volume and extra time. Lol

Bench
45x12
65x8
85x5
95x5

Finished with stretching and yoga

Back day! One of my favorite muscle groups!!!

Deadlifts
45x12
95x8
135x5
165x5
185x5
205x5
225x3x2
These felt good today! I really wanted to keep going but had to move on.

Wide pull-ups
4 sets of 8-10

Superset with hanging leg raises (straight)
4 sets of 12-15

ISO lateral wide rows

Really working on flexibility especially in my hips/legs to see if it helps with the hip pain

Deadlifts had me sweating! With the short workouts and no Radiate, I haven’t been getting much of a sweat so it was nice! Lol makes me feel more accomplished!

I think you need a Hot Tub at your new home. That would help the hip pain !! If you get a prescription it would be tax deductible !!

Now that’s a great idea!!! A hot tub is definitely on the wish list...just gotta wait a little while since we had to get my daughter a car and we also have to buy a lawnmower before Summer!

I officially have a 17 year old! Can you believe it?!

I bet you two get confused as sisters

I have a 44 year old, Do I Win ??

Mine are 27, 22, 21, and 7. We were almost empty nesters, and then I got hurt in Afghanistan, which gave me alot of time at home while healing up

I keep wondering if I’ll get a surprise several years down the road! Lol it’s enough with them almost 7 years apart! Can’t imagine another one! My hubby’s mom has 5 Total now ranging from 45 to 22.

Oh my!!!!

I love my children but am so happy that me, or my wife can no longer produce!!! It's nice to know there will never be a surprise baby. I am too close to the finish line to have another 18 years of hyper responsibility for someone else. I wouldn't give up being a father for anything in the world, but the only babies I want in my hands from here on out are ones I can give back when I am ready!!!!

Absolutely! I’m tied/clipped/burned or whatever they do but I just hear all of those crazy stories! I want to be able to enjoy my grandkids when that time comes!

I 100% agree. After the last surprise, we made sure neither one of us was ever gonna have anymore again.

Now that is some range! When me and my wife had our oops we were like hear we go again! she has been a blessing! The Good Lord must of thought we needed another one. Heck my wife had mentioned having another one the other day. I was like I don't think it would be healthy for her! lol

Jo and I had a lot of problems and lost 2 babies by the time I was 29, we decided that the pain was too much to keep trying and Jo was going to be a high risk pregnancy anyway. So we decided we were done having kids. That when the boys grew up we were becoming boat people or some other such fun thing to do that people with less responsibility can often afford. Well a week and a half into us getting comfortable with the decision and looking forward to some of the other options we would have she started throwing up every morning and not feeling well. Apparently one of the last times we went bareback took hold, and she was pregnant.

Unfortunately for us at the time we fully expected to lose the baby again, so that first trimester was torturous for us. Luckily we made it through and have our "little" 13 year old goofball now. So I have to say thank goodness for the surprises too!!!!

That is awesome!
My brother and Sister in law didn't think they could have kids. tried for years and did all kinds of crap! they were getting ready to adopt and when the teenager they had supported gave birth her mom shows back up into her life and says she is not giving up the baby. they were crushed and out a lot of $. the next day my sister in law was throwing up alot, thought it was the stress from the whole situation. come to find out she was pregnant. I now have a nephew that is 11 and a niece that is 4.

Funny thing is my Sister in laws sister went through all the fertility stuff as well and ended up having quadruplets. (Now that I can't imagine) 3 girls and 1 boy. feel sorry for the boy!

No doubt, that is a lot of estrogen to contend with. He will end up being an understanding Cat though. You don't grow up around mostly women without learning to be a bit sensitive and understanding. You won't survive...

Oh my! Quintuplets! I always thought I wanted twins growing up but I truly don’t think I’m equipped to handle multiple Little’s running around at once! Lol

For real conversation just now between me and my 10 year old son...

Me: hurry and get ready for bed it’s almost 9

Him(walking towards me in the kitchen): mom, I just have one question...do you think I’m the flash?

Me: uh...No?

Him: well, why do you think I can get ready for bed that fast! I can’t move at the speed of light

Me(holding back the laughter) Don’t get smart with me, just get ready for bed...???*♀️
