Gym
Today was a "all weights feel too heavy" day, so I was pumping every limb with moderate weights.
I di have those days. Not often, but I do have themMrKleen73 , Do you also have those days, when you simply can't get near the numbers you normally lift?
I mean, even when on a blast, I have days I grab the 65lbs DB's for hex press, they feel like 100lbs. Then, doing the presses with only 55lbs and still getting only 9 reps out of it -instead of doing 12 with the 65's.
I have those fairly often... even maybe once a week. Can't figure out what it is -but its not:
-diet (have it in a surplus too, not only when cutting)
-roids
-nerves (like stress)
-alcohol/drugs (not using any)
My guess is recovery.... but can it be I need more recovery, even though I sleep 10 hours, go only 4 x week -and I'm on at least 250mg test/w (currently at 450mg)?
I'm also on a split routine...
So what was your reward meal.......
Was it?Meal was chicken breast, milk, potatoes. In an hour again a chicken breast. No Luftwaffels. LMAO!
so interesting convo here at work.... anyone else line the bowl with paper like myself to keep the toilet water from splashing ur a**
Nope. Redneck bidet.

I can not stress the outcome of lining bowl with paper ... completely resolves any splash ... your welcome ;?)Actually, I hate when that happens, It drives me nuts, but never tried lining the bowl with paper.
From my 57 1/2 year old perspective:
I have those days as well and attribute them to recovery issues coupled with diet and state of the mind.
Fact is, at our age, recovery is much slower.
Low carbs also affect performance, there simply is not enough glycogen in reserve to fuel the workout.
The mind plays a part. Some days my resolve to lift is weak. Since the mind controls the body, lifting becomes a chore.
You have to remember that just watching our diet and lifting puts us in the upper 10% of physical fitness, health and longevity in our age group. Most of our age group members are literally dying.
Hmmmm, let's see.. I lost some septum (deviated septum surgery to correct my sinuses) and I gained an artificial disc (disc replacement surgery to replace C5/C6 in my neck). Other than that I gained a bit of holiday "cheer" around the mid-section and a burning desire to get back to lifting again. Been "out of the game" too long for all of these surgeries (was a 3rd surgical procedure, to try a cortisone steroid injection in my spine, but that didn't work to relieve symptoms, so then they proceeded with/scheduled the disc replacement). I have been put under anesthesia so many times these last couple of months I have a frequent flyer care with the anesthesiologists
.
How goes it with you?
Titanium is awesome. I have a titanium upper palette in my jaw and 4 titanium screws holding it in place. Just sucks in the cold at timesYou are basically saying, I'm an old fugger. LOL! So I guess I have to live with that.
Good to hear others have that issue too, it makes it a normal occurrence.
Wow! I thought you only got fat over the holidays, now I hear you are turning into Terminator. All starts with an artificial disc -and ends with artificial everythingHehehe! That is what comes AFTER roid use....titanium, the next level in enhancements !
Good to have you back!

Sounds like you've had a lot going on. Hope the surgery went well and you can get back at it. What kind of limitations are you dealing with?

HGP, I think it’s the me you stop being a b1tch about cardio. Suck it up and just do it. Honestly, I don’t see much happening. You have to step up. Come on now
Volley doesn’t count. Not much calories to burn. I am huge fan of volleyball. I try to play at least couple times in a week.
I really would want to see you transform. Let’s get this going!!

I do have them but again not as ften as you sound like you have. I definitely attribute them to recovery in some way. I would check your adrenals or go full bore into an adrenal reset program at some point. Also not sure what your typical fat intakes are even when eating more but fat is extremely neuro-protective. If lower then this could definitely exacerbate adrenal fatigue. I think if you increase fats that could help in some way, and then if adrenals aren't doing well it could have to do with both.
Those are just places I would start. That or train to failure less. You are indeed getting older and hitting failure on reps takes a toll on your cns whether that is via extreme high rep training or failing at a single. From some of your reps schemes I see you report it looks like ocassionally you have those major intense days and those could effect your cns for up to a week or more if you keep training hard. Also if you don't already think about supplementing a vitamin B complex and magnesium. They are very good for the CNS and help with signal transfer in the muscle. I use the Natures Life Vitamin B6 and Magnesium one daily and it helps and also keeps you regular. LOL

This would definitely speed up the weight loss and might help address some of the energy issues but with this diet he really would benefit more from brisk walks than straight up LISS and he doesn't need hit right now. Cortisol is already going to be high as hell on this particular diet so the activity should not be stressful in any way just energy consuming. A 30-60 minute walk at a brisk pace, not power walking by any means, but walking like you have somewhere to go would benefit him. If he also used this time to self reflect / mentally process things he can get better recovery, stress reduction and not add to the cortisol from the diet. I find that when I do this regularly during fasting my fat loss increases quite a bit and I feel better. As a matter of fact it is what I am going to be employing to increase fat loss during my recomp process. I like to put some music on and go walk and just let my subconscious mind lead my thoughts where it wants to and process whatever comes to the front of mind. I always feel more recovered both mentally and physically when I do this regularly. I just get lazy and forget how good it makes me feel and end up stopping the practice once I reach my goal...
