Nice. What's you Pokedex at? I'm only at 116/119, but I'm working on evolving a few, and have some nice duplicates that I can hopefully use to trade for some of the rarer Pokemon I don't already have. I'm thinking they'll also increase the spawn rate for some rarer Pokemon, as out of those, only Ponyta and Rapidash are even somewhat rare. Maybe there'll be some "unanounced" increases like we had with Cubone, Marowak, Meowth, and Persian. I'd like to see SOME 3-stage evolution (like Gengar for Halloween) included in the event.
I'm at 132/139. Only 10 to go iirc

Nice. I'm also working on saving up candy for Gen 2 evolutions.

Do you think they'll leave the 3rd evolutions for Gen 2 at 100 Candy even when the 1-2 evolution was 50 instead of 25? That means a Kingdra or Crobat would need 150 Candy to evolve from the 1st to 3rd instead of 125 for other 3rd evolutions. I say it should be 75, for the same total candy.

I would think theyll keep the 100... more than taht is really hard, especially considering some of the ones that go gen 2 are rarer in general.

I ahve no idea how long that will take tho so I've quit worrying about trading and gen 2 since it could be 6mo+ off

I heard that there was some mention of trading in the code of earlier updates. Maybe it'll be a Thanksgiving/Christmas/New Years present. They're adding daily bonuses for catching Pokémon and going to Pokestops soon, which is a nice little bonus.

According to this article:
Catching a Pokémon every day will earn the following bonus:

500 XP
600 Stardust
Catching a Pokémon every day for 7 days straight will earn the following larger bonus:

2,000 XP
2,400 Stardust
Visiting a PokéStop and spinning the Photo Disc every day will earn the following bonus:

500 XP
A number of additional items
Visiting a PokéStop every day for 7 days straight will earn the following larger bonus:

2,000 XP
A greater number of additional items
https://www.google.com/amp/bgr.com/2016/11/02/pokemon-go-daily-bonuses/amp/
That means if you catch a Pokémon and visit a Pokestop every day, every week you'll get:
-11,000 XP
-6,600 Stardust
-Additional items (hopefully good eggs and incense)

That's awesome. Do you know when that starts?
Supposedly soon in an update.

Also, I've heard that Pidgey and Rattata no longer hatch from eggs, and Eevee only hatches from 5km eggs now, not 10km. Also spawn rates for Pidgey, Rattata, and Zubat are supposed to be a bit lower, meaning everything else is theoretically a bit higher.

Just had a 1112 CP Poliwrath run on me after a raspberry, one blocked ultra ball, and an escape on the second ball. I have a 1127 already, but he's cool and a really good defender.

So true. I've been walking my squirtle for the last 35 or so candy to get balstoise and had one randomly pop up this morning while I was about to get to the airport... ran, and I missed my next turn in my frustration haha. Almost missed my plane too cuz it took so long to get back to that turn

def saw a lot more spawns at stops yesterday and was getting 6+ items at a time too. THought that seemed odd.

also, they killed drive-by stop spinning by adding another speed tracking feature. annoying tho when your gps just has your guy running around anyways even tho you're not moving.

Yeah, but you can see the legal reasons why they're doing what they can to prevent people from "playing while driving." It sucks for GPS stray and commuters, but it's probably necessary for the long-term survivability of the game. Also, the code of the newest update shows data for all the next-gen (Gen 2) Pokémon, so they may be coming sooner than later, with some speculation that it'll be by the 18th to correspond with the release of the new Pokémon games coming out. They also added data for Ditto's move transform, and I don't think that the Gen 2 Pokémon have moves in the code yet, so maybe it's another update away, but it seems that hopefully it'll be here sooner than we expected.

There's also some speculation that we'll see new "Alolan forms" of Gen 1 Pokémon by the 18th to go with the new region for the new video games (Sun and Moon). They're basically just re-typed Gen 1 Pokémon, which is actually pretty cool. It's just speculation, but there's rumors that GO and Sun/Moon will somehow interact, and it's a good way for GO to drum up some hype for people to go out and pick up the games. Here are some of the "new" Pokémon:

Ice/Steel Sandshrew and Sandslash:

Ice Vulpix and Ice/Fairy Ninetales:

Grass/Dragon Exeggutor:

Dark Meowth/Persian:

Fire/Ghost Marowak:

Electric/Psychic Riachu:

Dark/Normal Rattata and Raticate:

Dark/Poison Grimer/Muck:

From a liability standpoint I totally get it.

I read the article about the gen2 and ditto and sounds like gen2 is close but ditto is far due to the way it's coded.

I'm def excited for some major new changes/additions tho since I'm getting close to complete and after that there's little reason to play.

Haha, and more ice Pokémon is always good, with all the Dragonites in gyms that have a double weakness to ice. Dark/normal Raticate would be a real sleeper though, since it'd get STAB for bite and hyper beam. I always liked the idea of a ghost Marowak, and spinning fire with it is pretty cool. Not sure why Exeggutor is a dragon type, but he should be really strong.

I played through Gen 3 (Ruby/Sapphire/Emerald) a lot (all of the GBC/GBA games). Gen 2 should keep people interested, as there are a handful of new evolutions from Gen 1, some really cool Pokémon (like Tyranitar), and more steel/dark types that are lacking in Gen 1. The Alolan forms could work well too, since they're variations of the Gen 1 Pokémon that everyone who plays GO knows now. Plus trading and battling would be awesome and keep people involved. I'd also like to see the ability to re-roll a move. Say you spent 125 Candy evolving a high CP and IV Pokémon from 1 to 3 and it gets bad moves. Maybe spend a good bit of candy to re-roll a move (to another option, no duplicate), that way you don't have to wait for another high CP/IV Pokémon.

Gen 3 was pretty cool too IMO. I played through Gen 4 once, but never got as into it as 1-3. Gen 3 has some cool Pokémon and interesting type combos, and introduced double battles, which I don't see working well for GO, haha.

Not really. Electric types are scarce in South Florida. Grass and water types are very common though. I have multiple Exeggutors, Venusaurs, Vileplumes, and Victreebell, which is great for taking down the ton of water Pokémon in gyms, but ice and electric Pokémon are very rare. There are Magmar here instead of Electabuzz it seems; I've only seen 1 total. I have 1339 Jolteon with thundershock and a 1216 Jolteon with thunder, but that's pretty much it. I have a Wigglytuff with a good fairy move (super effective and STAB) and pound (STAB and just a strong charge move) though, but it's only 1095 CP.

Edit: I just checked, and Dragonite shouldn't be weak to electric moves, since Dragon is resistant to it and flying is weak to it; it should balance out to normal. It's primary steel move is weak to electric, so that may be why it works well.

Ice is rare pretty much everywhere I've been. Only place I saw more than 1-2 was Minneapolis and that was mostly jynx and seel.

I always get "super effective" when using electrics against dragonite. Snorlax is the real pain for me. Those bastardds take forever to kill and nothing seems more than normal effective against them. What's even more annoying is not having my own ha. I only caught 2 and they're both under 1000cp and one has an awful moveset (lick and earthquake I think).

I have an 1887 CP Snorlax with lick and earthquake, and it's actually not bad. I think the calculators show it as 82% as effective as the ideal moveset. Lick is super effective against Exeggutor, which is VERY common in gyms here, so I'm not complaining about my Snorlax. I think my other two Snorlax are 4X and 4XX CP, haha.

I really like my high IV 1665 Venusaur with vine whip and solar beam (ideal offensive moveset); it tears through Vaporeons.

Fighting against a Snorlax is hard, if it has zen headbutt, I can just throw a 2000 CP Exeggutor at it and do pretty well, but if it has lick, I probably just throw a Vaporeon at it.

Someone on Reddit suggested that the increased spawn rate is a dry-run for Gen 2. In other words, since there'll be twice as many Pokémon, doubling the normal spawn rate would keep the Gen 1 Pokémon at the same rarity. I like this idea.

Some of the things on the horizon tho are huge changes compared to what they've been doing lately tho.

I like this too... that said, having the garbage ones pop every 2 sec is kind of annoying right now ha. There def have been more spawns tho of more "slightly rare" guys. Things like growlithe and vulpix for instance I've actually caught or at least seen 1-2 a day where as before I wouldn't see them for weeks if at all.

Damn. Need that here... that's one of the few I still need
Same here, but that may ruin the gym scene, at least locally. Everyone will have a tun of Lapras, and enough candy to max them out. Yeah, it'll help nerf the Dragonite tower gyms, but there'll be so many Lapras. Also, when they add trading, these people with dozens of Lapras will be able to get basically whatever other Pokémon they want for them. It worked fine for Halloween because Gengar Hypno aren't top-tier Pokémon, but Lapras is one of the rarest and best Pokémon in Gen 1. I've heard rumors of ice-spawns similar to Halloween during Christmas time, so it may end up being a non-issue anyway. Either way, I want a Lapras.

Really psyched about trading and battling.

Gen 2 will keep me playing longer tho too.

Currently at 138/142 for the North American dex.

The Hitmons, lapras, and a shellder and grimer (can walk these tho) are all I need. Do have 2 10k eggs I'm saving for thanksgiving.
Very nice. I'm only at 122/127 on my Pokedex (level 25).

I'm ready for Gen 2 evolutions for sure. Pretty much right off the bat I'm planning on evolving:
Kingdra
Slowking
Espeon & Umbreon
Crobat
Bellossom

I'm also looking forward to a legitimate electric Pokémon (Ampharos with a max CP of 2618), and Tyranitar is going to be a monster (3653 CP max; higher than Dragonite).

I wonder if PvP battling will need potions and revives like gyms or not. It'd be good revenue for them if they do, since I can see more people battling friends than gyms.

Oh, good point, I forgot that you can't buy potions/revives. I'm not sure what they'll do about that.

Depending on the move set, Kingdra may be a monster. It has a double resistance to both water and fire, and is only weak to Dragon and fairy moves, not even a single weakness to ice where Dragonite has a double weakness to it.

Scizor should be a great Exeggutor counter if it has bug moves (double super effective), and resistant to grass and psychic moves.

So long as scizor actually has the cp level to compete. That's the biggest problem I have with ex is that the ones who are strong against it all are weak in general... you get a 2500+ ex and you're stuck using low cp bugs and such that get crushed by the psy portion often anyways. Same with the fire outside of arcanine really.

Scizor is resistant to psychic and grass though, and his expected CP is 2270. If he has decent bug moves, he should be able to handle much higher CP Eggs, since he'd be doing 1.56x damage with both moves, and only taking 0.8x damage.

Building my army of level 1 Pokémon. Taking over a gym and then dropping in a <50 CP Snorlax is pretty funny; you go to battle it expecting a strong gym, and it's just 1 level 1 Snorlax.
