TGR's Modified PowerBuilding v2.0

You might need to hound him a bit, he's old lol.

What I might recommend for a 4 post rack would be: 2"x2" posts (3"x3" is fine, I just prefer 2x2), 48"W x 40" L. That would give you 36" inside depth, and 44" inside width.

For 3x3 you still want 48"W but would want 42" total length.

Never really put much thought into the post diameter. Specifics as to why you chose what you did?

Well, that depends on where you live and what you're looking for lol.

I had to drive all the way to NJ and OH when I was looking for York.

Ohio seemed to have a ton of high quality equipment for sale, the Northeast in general was packed full of good stuff.

I live east of Cleveland and you are correct-tons of high quality lifting equipment.

Mine is 3x3. I didn't specify when he made it, and just assumed it would be 2x2.

2x2 just gives you and extra inch for your hands on squats. Plus, I just think it looks good.

Damn, I wish I would've known that earlier this year when I was up there. Would've loved to have stopped by and checked out the gym.

No gym today and it's looking like no gym tomorrow. Ugh

For reference, my Rogue is a 3x2. I would highly suggest a 3x2 for your Beast lifts.

A visit from any of my AM beast brothers is always welcome.

Why, need to harvest the neighbors crop?

Up late with issues with the young one. We will be up late tonight for a high school football game. In the morning I have to tow the truck that broke down a couple weeks ago to the shop. FSU v Louisville is at noon and that's a mandatory game to watch. After that, my wife is going to be cranky I haven't done any chores.

Gotcha... out of all that I hope things with the young one work out brother.... as you know - I've been there many times.

I'm trying to get up in ur box but says its full of dudes already or something

I sent them dudes packing.

Thanks for bumping my thread.

Plan was to go to the gym today for the first time in forever but my wife promised neighborhood kids I'd take them out in the boat. She's so sweet.

No chance tomorrow, either, unless I get up at 2 am. This lull is going to suck coming back from.

Once the home gym arrives you will be able to get a lot more done. The time you'd spend driving to the gym weekly is enough to make progress likely

Search your local Craigslist in secret, and then surprise him with a gym for your anniversary.
Haha love it... if only he liked lifting

Make him sleep on the couch until he agrees with you.

That might work! Lol Would you believe I've never had the nerve to do that?!

Not sure you're missing out. Withholding sex/affection is a pretty bad idea generally - it doesn't show a lot of mutual respect for the relationship. That being said, if you decided to be adamant that it was truly important to you and then he didn't consent (or try to compromise), that's also kind of poor for the relationship lol

Lol true...plus withholding is self torture too! Ain't nobody got time for that!

True. After today I hope some things stabilize.

Lots of NEW drama added in life. Mom is ill again. One of our cars broke down on the way to an appointment down south. We had to get a rental and now the car is in a shop an hour away with a company I don't know/trust. On top of that, a relative came in town and relapsed. It was a long day.

Not too much longer on my rack though. Lol

Therapy is waiting in your new rack! Man, prayers for Mom and family.

Hopefully your streak of bad luck ends soon, bro. All that costs nerves and strength.
Keep your bald head up!

Remember to try not to let worries about what you can't control drag you down. Your family obviously is the priority, but don't waste energy worrying about material things like the car or what it will cost. Those things have a way of working themselves out. Hope your family only gets healthier, soon!

Sorry to hear man... never ends!

It'll end.

Im stuck at home with no vehicle. Lol. Only home gym, and I'm too scared to do bench. Doing DB shoulder presses now, maybe ill move to the garage and do some cable stuff. Hoping to get the call that my wife's car is ready.

Rows and shrugs and RDL ftw! Plus anything you can clean and ohp can be good morninged for volume. And zerchers. If you can do ohp, between that and curls and all those you can do the entire body!

You can even do seated GMs and ohp off your bench rack! Plus tri extensions like skulls and JM presses if they don't hurt your shoulder. Obviously any number of band movements like flies, rows, curls, pullaparts, extensions.

Tough stuff there with the family man.. I didn't have a car today myself, ended up taking the bus to the gym lol.

I did some rows, pulldowns, mobility stuff, and DB OHP. They all felt good. I just got a hyper bench in that I'll put together this week. I hope to actually get in the gym in the morning.

Car is back and the mechanic took care of me.

Moms lab results came back better than what I expected. Unfortunately though, that means something else is up but hopefully not as dangerous.

I'll probably go back to work tomorrow and work on visiting family member later.

Thank you everyone for the well wishes. I'll try and catch up more with you folks this week. I've peeked through all your logs but have stammered to find much to say. I'm impressed always, but motivated little personally to comment.

I treated today similar to a deload. Not that I had much of a choice, my body just isn't ready to go full steam.

Lat Pulldowns 4x10

Barbell Squat 262.5

Set 1 : 45x10
Set 2 : 135x5
Set 3 : 135x5
Set 4 : 185x5
Set 5 : 185x5
Set 6 : 225x5

Hammer Curls 4-5 x10

Barbell Stiff-Legged Deadlift 246.67

Set 1 : 135x10
Set 2 : 185x10
Set 3 : 185x10

Leg Extensions 140

Set 1 : 70x30
Set 2 : 70x30
Set 3 : 70x30

That's all. Hopefully I'll get in tomorrow and do something similar with my upper body.

Also, shoulder has felt pretty good the last two days. I think db pressing makes them feel better.

Glad to see you back in the gym. DB pressing is supposed to be better overall for the shoulders compared to BB.

What do you guys recommend for a Texas Power Bar? I want one with aggressive knurling but don't want to spend $400 for one

I'd wait for a sale, but in general this is THE single item I would not skimp on. I would buy used hex plates to train with before I'd buy a lousy bar *srs*

The difference in quality between the TPB and OPB is going to be miniscule at best.

Every person I know with an Ohio bar loves it.

Is yours Ohio or Texas?

Their plates are so expensive. you must have paid a fortune for yours.

230+60 shipping.

That looks pretty decent. I wish it would let me zoom in. I'd like a super aggressive knurl.

Mine is a Texas, got it from the same guy that capo linked. I just remembered it being more expensive lol.

I did lol. The Rogue competition PL plates are significantly cheaper than any of the ones I got.

The TPB is what is commonly used in meets and meet training. Not quite as aggressive as a deadlift bar but much more aggressive than the bars you are used to.

Oh, and tell your coworker to rinse the sand out of his *****.

Shouldn't join a political conversation if you can't handle opposing views.

This other guy isn't a coworker. I like him and a lot of his political views, just not the aggressive fanboyism for Trump.

The one from last night is a tool. I don't trust him at work or in life. I'm only his Facebook friend because he begged. I'm surprised he didn't delete me last night. He has before when I said something about Trump then swore up and down he didn't, then turned around and begged me to accept the new request.

He's the one I'm talking about.

The other guy was mostly reasonable. (until I started mentioning some of Trump's specific shortcomings anyway)

That kinda surprised me. He went from you have to vote party line, suggesting he agreed that Trump wasn't great but wanted to vote against Hillary, to you have to like Trump and if you don't there's something wrong with you.

I never said the Ohio was a bad bar - I said I would never skimp on a bar. No $130 pieces of crap from no-name brands or entry level bars. All Rogue's strongman equipment seems pretty well built. Their log is a mean heavy biotch for its actual weight.

Okie's deadlift bar has crazy knurling, better than the Texas, but I don't think they make a power bar. And they're more expensive than Texas.

Any recommendations for DB trays for power racks?
