KLEEN Cut's back on the supplements but not the progress!

I try not to partake in the deep fried stuff (although I do love tempura sweet potato). I do use soy but opt for the lower sodium if it is any consolation... Wasabi's gotta be good for some internal burning though!

Exactly. Gainz.

....nah just will do my part brother. Thanks by the way, for the tip on Mi40x.. just did the last workout of the 'Graduate' program... that run was just silly, the 2 a days this week damn near killed me!
Do you feel you added some size?
You're always there for us! Of course we will do that for you!!
Thanks!
Give me your phone #. I'll get you up like the Drill Sargent use to do! Maggot! lol
Right I can hear it now. "Hands off your sack and get out of the rack maggot!!!!! Move it!!! Move it!!! Move it!!!!

I've gotta figure something out for my self here soon
Yeah man it is hard to get moving and grooving after a big change or downtime.
Super excited for you! I want to be held accountable with you!!!! I'll wake you up in the am! :D

I need to be more consistent with my logging as well.

I would love that Sweetie but that would have you up at 1:45-2:00AM your time to wake me up for the gym here in Houston.

How about TODAY, instead of tomorrow?
Tis how things get done!
politely ok ... :)
LOL Yeah like "Hey Lazy Bones quit making excuses & get your azz back to work!!!" you know politely...
....that should apply to me and my diet.. But tonight is all you can eat Sushi so...
YUM
sushi isn't a cheat food in my eyes. It's rice, lean protein, and often fibrous veggies and healthy fats (avocado, cream cheese or deepfried not so much). Easy on the soy sauce and I don't see how it can hold someone back (unless they're on keto or something lol)

Agreed!

Yeah a little horse radish to heat up the system can't hurt.

Exactly. Gainz.
BOOM!!!!

Okay so this morning was a nice conditioning session mostly calisthenics and the battle ropes, cycling through several body weight exercises, and some drills with the Son of a Beast ropes. I worked up a hell of a nice sweat.

We'll let it slide this time... but we will need to see some iron being hoisted soon :) When you're ready....

A little on chest/shoulders/back width I think, definitely in my legs.... added some fat though, as I was starving through most of the run, so going to tighten things up and see.
Good deal, if you didn't get too soft I would wait another 4-6 weeks before trying to clean anything up at least calorie wise.

Oh no worries there will be some iron moved in the morning! I was busy this weekend so i did not get to set up my program plans so I did something today that would not mess with anything I chose to do with the weights.

It's definitely not cheat food in my eyes either unless you're getting the rolls with tons of extra stuff! I've grown quite fond of my sushi Monday's at home with just a bowl of salmon, rice, cucumber and a tad of avocado!

Good to see you put in some work this morning Kleen!!

Yes it did! I was tired by the end of it but will be able to add in some more volume or up the intensity later this week or next.

As long as you all are members I am down!
Moving some weights I see....
Yes it felt good I have a nice bit of soreness in all the muscles I worked.
I think he's starting to show me up already. ..

I don't know about that. LOL Thanks though!

Okay so today was kind of a bummer. My alarm woke me up and was playing really loud. I jolted up & quickly hit snooze so the wife wouldn't kill me or what I thought was Snooze. I was woken back up 2 hours later by our back up alarm. Obviously not happy but not disappointed with myself so much as the situation. I didn't choose not to go just didn't make it in. I have a fun Pull Workout planned for this evening. It is basic so I am gonna hit it up in the garage. Here's the plan...

Chins / Pull Ups 4 x failure
Bent Over Rows 4 x 10-15
Curls - 4 x 10-15
BB or Trap Bar Deadlift 4 x 10-15
Rear Delt Flies or Rear Delt Destroyers 4 x 10-15 or Delt Destroyer drop set.

I will end it with some sort of finisher, either a little complex of some sort or just strap up the Slastix battle ropes and give that some hell.

Come clean, Kleen! Did you git 'er dun??

Good looking Pull session right there!
Thanks, it was a beast hitting the Pullx from top to bottom is basically a full body workout so it had me sweating my ass off!
That's literally everything you need lol
Yes Sir simplicity and beauty all in one!
Did it get done... just checking.
Yes Sir it sure did!!!! I put a pace on it and finished up in 40-45 minutes. Man my pull ups and chins need work!!!!
Come clean, Kleen! Did you git 'er dun??

You know it!

This morning I did cardio, I originally intended to do some sort of GPP or HIIT but when I started walking up the stairs at the gym my knees were creaking and feeling rough. I decided that I needed to let them recover a little bit so I did 50 minutes of MIIT cardio on the treadmill. I set it up for 1 minute intervals at 50% and 80% incline at a moderately quick walking pace & slightly faster on the high inclines. I decided since I was stationary that I would catch up a little on Backstrom so I watched it on HULU. Love that show. I worked up quite a sweat and burned just under 600 calories, and my average heart rate was 155-160.

I am trying to decide if tomorrow is going to be a calisthenic and body weight day or if I am going to hit up another Push workout, or maybe I will do a body weight push workout. I am actually starting to have fun again. :)

Body weight stuff is the first to go and the longest to get back for me. I did 9 wheel of death after not doing it for a couple weeks and consider that a bit of a triumph. My core was just so fried from doing so many deads that I had to forgo the W.O.D. I don't even want to try pullups with all this extra weight :(

It should be always be fun. That's great to hear!!
Yes it is, for a while wasn't even making it in so now that I am back in it feels good. Lifting is really the only fun activity I do, most everything else is time spent running around with or for the family. Don't get me wrong that stuff is high quality parts of life. I just mean it is my only thing that is just for me. Other can join in and be welcome. I love when my wife lifts with me. However I do it for myself and my love of it. Now that my goal is to improve general fitness, athleticism, conditioning, & look good naked it frees me up to not feeling tied to focusing on just one aspect of training. I know I will be less likely to get injured and continue making progress by varying the training type regularly which is also more fun to me.

Yeah that is definitely true. I fully intend to get MUCH better at body weight and gymnastic type exercises. I think my next purchase may be a TRX or some other suspension system. I also plan on putting some parallel bars in my back yard mounted on a few 4x4's posted into the ground. I have enough space in the back to make some nice training area for out there. I had a convo with a couple people in my neighborhood about starting a training deal out of my garage and back yard. Make it kind of group training. Get 3-5 guys together to train as a group in my garage and back yard. Maybe just charge 150 a month paid up front or 50 a week for the trainer led group. If nothing else just for the extra experience and testimonials.

Sounds like a great plan.

Just finished a push upper body day. Was a fun workout. Have a pretty good pump.

DB Incline bench 4 x failure

Standing military press 4 x failure

Super set 1 - 4 x failure
pec deck
Lateral Raise Machine

Super set 2 - 4 x failure
Triceps dips
Top end DB side raise

Triceps push ups 2 x failure

Going to get up and hit the gym Saturday and Sunday will either be lower body tomorrow or Sunday and an upper body pull the other.

Glad to see you back here! I missed your reaffirmation pledge. I agree with you about adding in the athletic movements into the lifting sessions. There is no sense being big and strong when you can't chase after your kid or grandkids for longer than 15 secs. Kill it Kleen!

That is so true! You've got me inspired to add a little more stretch/athletics to my workouts too. Gotta try and keep up with the kids...

Great workout man! Yeah, I would agree, I too need more "conditioning".

Thanks Kenpo! I agree totally, I went to throw a high round house the other day and my hip and hammies were so tight I only got about chest high... that was a wake up call. Just 2 years ago I could get into the front splits, and 6 inches off the ground in the Chinese splits. Could kick over any average size guys head and plant my heel on a tall guys chin. Now my hips are so tight kicking 4.5 feet high pulls on my hip... I have some work to do but I am naturally pretty flexible so I expect i will loosen up quickly!

Holy! Lol. I'm throwing round houses at thigh level! Agree with everything said here!

Absolutely, sometimes we get into the show part and think the "Go" part is in the gym. The go part is being able to be athletic and functionally strong at a moments notice.
Great workout man! Yeah, I would agree, I too need more "conditioning".

Thanks, and yeah most of us do!

Yeah the leg kicks are the safest and some of the most effective kicks in general. A whole lot easier to land too. I was going to kick over my daughters head and my leg wasn't high enough to clear her head so I pulled it back but it was like WHAT JUST HAPPENED?

Workouts are getting more... robust :)

Yes Sir, as I trust the body to hold up I will increase the intensity and volume a little each workout. Work capacity is still pretty low right now but that will come up quickly too.

Plan sounds good errr towards caution. You can always make up for lack of load with amount of tension so you can't go wrong.

How are things going for you this week?

Yes certainly for hypertrophy specifics that works perfectly. For being able to move explosively and be more athletic you have to train more like an athlete. You lose a little from something anytime you specify on one thing too long. The more important things for me to do is periodize all of my training methodologies.
i came across Backstrom last week on Hulu and i to am enjoying the show so far.
Yeah it is kind of like putting House in as a detective with a comic twist.
How are things going for you this week?
They were downright horrible!
Yah I am not seeing much action here, mid-week already :)
Yes Sir, the Flu got me and had it's way with me all week.
Sent him a message this weekend. Haven't heard back. He must be busy with life.

I did finally reply didn't I?

I think I was awake for a total of 15 hours between Sunday until yesterday when my 102+ fever finally broke. I spent the entire day in my bed entire body hurting. I was walking around like a weak old man shuffling everywhere i went... This years flu is no joke and that was even after having the flu shot which helped me to fight it a bit. It had been over a decade since i had the flu and man it was brutal. Now I have a touch of bronchitis left over from it that I am going to have to try working through. I doubt I am even going to push it with a workout this weekend. I am honestly going to play it safe however I am hoping I wake up tomorrow feeling like I can and should go. If so I will.

On a positive note I am pretty sure I lost a couple lbs this week but not so sure they were the lbs I wanted to lose. Thanks to everyone for checking in on me!!!

Feel better homeslice. Hopefully the bronchitis clears up fast.
Thnks Hyde it is a little better today. Just using inhaler to open things up.
Crap every time you get going .... you're using up all your bad luck though :)

It must be it has really been a long run of bad luck and personal trials but I am seeing light at the end of this tunnel and once I get full steam again things are going to get good quickly. I feel like things are really about to change for my physique I just need that momentum built up and BOOM it is gonna snap me back into shape.

Way to keep the attitude, Kleen! Life keeps handing you lemons. Just keep squeezing them!

yah we've all been there.

Rise above brother!

yah we've all been there.
Definitely, but those of us who live this can't stay away for too long. Sooner or later we come back to center and that is where this is for me. In my center.
Rise above brother!

You know it brother Mark!

So I decided to do a push upper body 5x5 last night. Nothing to spectacular just 3 basic moves 5 work sets of 5.

Flat Bench 5x5 @ 225
Standing Military 5x5 @ 135
JM Press 5x5 @ 135

Tonight I am going out to touch up with a higher rep lift for the same muscle groups for first 10-15 minutes. More than likely a super set of some sort. Just enough work to build up a nice pump and flush the muscles with blood and nutrients. I am thinking perhaps Push Ups > Side Raises > Overhead Triceps Extensions at x15 each for 3-4 rotations with very short rest periods.

Once that is done I will do another 5x5 workout but for upper body Pull. I am thinking something along the lines of what is listed below.

Pull Ups 5x5
Rows 5x5
Curls 5x5
Rear Delt Raise 3x8
