Intraworkout (recommendations)

Okay so I have tried purple Wraath and it is a really good product, I have Xtend coming my way, and I have used anabolic Competition (which was the best between everything else I have ever used including the last two that I have mentioned). pepto pro and karbolyn was great also but only for when I was lean bulking.

So I am wondering what to try next. What would guys recommend? It has to be calorie free because I am cutting.

PES amino iv. Stuff is great for taste and has a solid profile. 15g bcaas plus HICA and lemon verbena for muscle sparing.

This is my favorite bcca product. Great for cutting and tastes amazing.

For non bcca, I mix in Cremax. That gives me the bccas, hica, and lemon verbena from aminoiv. . And creatine, tmg, cop, taurine, and electrolytes from Cremax.

COP was awesome for strength for me. Took awhile to build up but after that it was gold. Haven't noticed much from tmg tho but it has a lot of good research

If you want it intraworkout and not preworkout, go with Amino IV since EAAs are best taken intraworkout.

Also, all amino drinks have calories

This ^^^^.

Frankly almost anything that has flavoring has at least SOME calories... maybe just a few but still. Many don't even list them even though they technically have them.

All aminos do have kcals, BCAA's are free form of protein each gram of BCAA/Protein = 4kcals they are not labeled due to FDA Regulations.

I usually count them as 4 cals each gram as Bob stated. I have seen that different aminos are slightly above or below the 4 cals, but I use 4. So, if I am taking in 10g of bcaa, I will count it as 40 cals in MFP.

I am now a user of compete from IFN.. wasn't really on my radar until another rep told me to try it. hands down one of my favorite intras out there.

Glycofuse + Compete

Ive been using this for a quite a while now and love it.

another one for compete....used to use straight bcaa's but compete is my favorite intraworkout product, it's more than just an amino product....but i still mix in bcaa's with it anyway, it's a fantastic intra workout stack

A lot of people, myself included, have had success with Amino IV. I would highly recommend trying it and comparing it to what you have already tried.

Sugar free gatorade/powerade/electrolyte drink. Like coop said above, aminos have calories.

You don't need aminos intra workout. Pre/post is fine given that you have proper pre-workout meal. If training fasted, then don't take anything, hence fasted.

Depending on the intensity of your workout. an electrolyte mix and maybe some niacin pre workout if you're trying to deplete glycogen.

A lot of people will drink intras just as that. From my understanding, they are best used pre training when training fasted or pre training without a meal in a while. Also, they are better used for meal spaced 4-6 hours apart, but leucine would probably be a better choice for that.

Correct and EAA's are more optimal intra-workout anyways

WHY EAA's more important than BCAA intra-workout:
but EAAs may impart some endurance-like effects that BCAAs simply cannot.

This is the only study done in trained humans consuming EAAs during the workout. These are legit, military-trained personnel doing both resistance and endurance work.

The findings?

"In summary, consumption of a 10-g dose of EAA enriched with leucine during moderate endurance-type exercise stimulated increased MPS when compared with an isonitrogenous EAA supplement with an amino acid profile consistent with high-quality proteins. These data indicate that increasing leucine availability during steady state exercise promotes skeletal muscle protein anabolism and spares endogenous protein."

Cliffs:

These EAAs increased postworkout MPS by 33% when consumed during exercise
The drink with the highest leucine content spared muscle to the greatest degree

Amino IV is good, using it now.

Strive or other products with peptopro are also a great choice.

Karbolyn for me is far and away my fav pre/intra product. Insane muscle fullness, roundness, pump with 50g pre or split pre and intra.

Thinking about trying glycofuse; have you compared it to karbolyn? Do you carry around two separate bottles (amines and carb shake), or do you mix the two flavors?

allmax amino core is my go to right now great profile and the key lime cherry is amazing

Thanks for the shout out, key lime cherry is a great flavor. Personally though,Carribean splash is my favorite! Aminocore is a great BCAA option, and with the 45:30:25 ratio, there is a high dose of leucine. This plus Carbion is a great combo for intra-WO endurance, but as OP was looking for few cals, a carb complex would be out.

I've been really interest lately in using peptopro + Karbion/Karbolyn or any other carb supps. Might give a run during my next bulk

I always use FINAFLEX BCAA/SAA intra not only for the amino acids but also the hydration factor instilled in it as well.

I usually consume a scoop pre and post workout too.

I havent used any HBCD products yet... many seem to really enjoy them though. When I find something to truly work, I tend to stick with it. I will need to try HBCD in the near future though, for comparisons sake.

Just mix both together.

I cant recommend Karbolyn or PeptoPro enough. Neither are cheap, but both are fantastic products.
