Digestive Enzymes

Whacked

Well-known member
Anybody use em or have an opinion on them?

Think all this dang "cooked meat" over the years has finally caught up to me. Lots of science supporting the notion of depleting natty enzymes and not producing as many as we age. Cooked foods (meats most notably) are some of the worst culprits.

Digestion issues have been a bit bad lately. No way you youngsters will appreciate this thread. Lol

When I was in my 20-30's I could eat whatever however and whenever and I never understood the concept of "bloated". Haha.

Ahhhh old age blows.

i love using digestive enzymes....two weeks ago i went out of town and ate at some restaurant, the food was really good but three of us were bloated that whole night, it's such an awful feeling

not to mention with food getting worse and worse with natural enzymes, digestive enzymes are soo much more needed these days

I like NOW's - before, during, and after eating large meals. I feel and smell better.

You making the switch to raw meat?

my GF just uses acidophillous or however you spell it. works like a charm for her

Thanks for all the replies. Will try this out.

Thanks all

If I could afford sushi for every meal - OMG - Heaven.

What other raw meats are u referring to? ;)

Beverly's digestive enzymes and MRM Digest-All both worked well for me back when I had a hard time adjusting to the higher caloric needs of the large individual haha.

Dude is clinically Insane! Lol :p

VOMMMM!

I use NOW Plant Enzymes 1 with each big meal (so 3 a day for me). Based on the research I've done, plant enzymes work best since they are utilized throughout the digestive system while animal ones mainly sit in the gut. You want the enzymes working through your whole system to better ABSORB nutrients, not just break them down in the gut. Using plant enzymes, I believe i absorb more from my food and shakes. They are very inexpensive and well worth looking into. Just my 2 cents

I think if you can afford them to fit them in then you should and that they are definitely worth it.

Drinking a tea spoon of apple cider vinegar before a meal helps digestions also. So get some of that organic ones and take it also (I personally love the taste but I guess I'm ****ing weird because most people hate it).

Also Orange OxiMega green for the win. It cost a bit more than the others but it is totally worth it as it covers a lot more than just your digestive enzymes.

I should add this to my staple, because bloating really becomes a part of my life when I add 15% to my TDEE. Should I choose NOWs Plant Enzymes or Super Enzymes?

Some great contributions in this thread. Thanks

Just began Now Foods Digest Ultimate (Enzymes).

Wow - DEFINITELY an improvement. 2 caps immediately prior to my meat-protein laden meal and I feel much less bloat/fullness. No gas either not do I feel like I have an undigested log sitting in my gut rotting.

Really hate to rain on the parade, but you may want to check your bottle date.

i've only tried plant. but i hear your body can become dependent on ox bile which is bad. i definitely recommend the plant one from personal use

I was using now foods digestive enzymes had to stop, basically my digestive system came to a halt cause i was using these, it took 2-3 days for it to kick start back up, we are all different body wise but just to let some or you guys know there are effects

You are full of crap! I mean "were" ;)
I agree that you can't just grab a supplement and start taking it without proper research. Plant ones are more natural/ph stable AND work throughout your whole digestive system.

Thanks - I'm safe :)

PS: not a "huge" deal anyway but good lookin out ;)

NOW Foods is voluntarily recalling the above-referenced products because the supplier of one of the ingredients used in these products has notified NOW that this ingredient may contain the antibiotic chloramphenicol. Consumers should discontinue use of this product. Consumers should return the product to the store where it was purchased for a full refund. No receipt is required.

NOW has not received any complaints of illness associated with taking these products. Additionally, NOW does not expect any adverse side effects from using these products since the side effects from chloramphenicol are extremely rare even at the therapeutic dose of 3,500 mg/day. The amount in these recalled products is 35 million times lower than the therapeutic dose. Those rare side effects may include unusual fever, bruising, or bleeding gums. A very rare unpredictable reaction called aplastic anemia has been known to occur in patients treated with chloramphenicol. The incidence of developing aplastic anemia following therapeutic doses (3,500 mg/day) of chloramphenicol is very low (one in every 30,000 to 50,000 treatments).

I believe aging in general just lowers your enzyme levels so I've always thought with all the garbage in our food and with aging that enzymes should be a staple especially since they are finding that are large part of immunity is actually effected by how healthy the gut is.

Amen Brutha

This and also lemon or lime juice in water after a meal. So friggin good after a huge meal. I do apple cider vinegar with a fourth of a teaspon of baking soda with my pre bed supplements. Both really good for digestion. As far as the enzymes, they help as well. I have NOW super enzymes.i use them mostly only of i dont have limes and had a really big meal. Try the lemon tho after a meal, best ****
