PES Select Protein: Read up!

thats exactly why i brought it up. Its one of the main factors for raising leptin levels, its one of the major things that falls during dieting hence why refeeds are such a drastic impact on weightloss/fatloss and always will be.

Refeeds do not work through leptin. Common misconception.

I'm going to have to read and review in its entirety when I'm not in between sets

Take a deeper look.

A lot of leptin studies were done with leptin administered to rats but they were leptin resistant.

Like I said I'll dig deeper

I have some beef with that article

First of all, there's much more to lipogenesis, lipolysis then is explained.

You have to look at leptons effect on the arc nucleus in terms of regulating npy, and AgRP

If leptin resistant (due to high triglycerides blocking the BBB) the. Hypothalamic levels remain low, causing increases in hypothalamic NPY and AGRP. AgRP in high amounts increases lipogenesis and the feel for hunger which is risen with NPY

AGRP In high amounts increases rT3 which is also high in stress related cases. Also even tho t3 may remain normal. It's not optimal

Obviously more science to it, and a lot of studies were not explored. Dieting effect on leptin, thyroid hormones. The effect of refeeding I. Thyroid hormones

I'm get overly passionate about this **** BC there's multiple pathways I will not go into and I'm rambling and all I wrote probably wont make sense

Summing it up:

The article while well written didn't go over effects of;

CART
POMC
NPY
AgRP
PYY ( actually raised in anorexics)
Ghrelin

It's not so simple as just leptin anymore

Then there's incretin hormones like GIP and GLP-1 that come into effect

Oh and obese models have delayed reactions to a lot of these peptide hormones making them probably not an ideal model

Things are getting crazy this weekend and I'm going for a mix of all 3 :P Going to find time to try some of the great baking recipes that I've seen on here as well!

Dare devil.

what could chef bob cook with a CnC / SnickerDoodle Combo?

Im thinking something with Snickerdoodle as the base and CnC as icing?

Cake? Pie and put CnC in a whipped topping? Cupcakes? CnC as a cream filling in a Snickerdoodle pastry?

Excited to see whatever it ends up being!

I love hoe you see the see cinnamon residue at the bottom of your cup/shaker after downing some snickerdoodle select, great stuff!

Nice writeup. I used to follow alot of stuff from Alan Aragon and he has been preaching the whey+casein thing for years. I have definitely had far better results from a blend than just whey.

Well I used whey alone for a long time and then whey and casein blend and seems to work better for me in terms of gains and recovery. Purely anecdotal but just my experience

Whey = Calories If you get 150 kcals in whey or 150kcals in a blend the results = the same. the kcals are the same.
True, however over the course of an extended time, let's say a year or so, I would prefer the calories come from a blend versus a concentrate.

Especially when said blend has proven effective added goodies and tastes amazing. Just need to 'Select' the correct brand ;)

I usually have issues with blends, intollerant to Casein to some extent.

For whatever reason Select hasn't bothered me yet

It's almost as if it was formulated with people who have GI distress in mind. ;)

If your worried there's always the addition of guar gum which slows the transit of aminos in the intestines and can enhance overall uptake

Makes an isolate work like a slow blend. Plus it functions other ways and keeps you super full at a 9g dose.

Specific to guar gum? I have and use xanthan gum on occasion.

I know it is at least similar, expands in intestines, used to help constipation, slows absorption of sugars

Sister tried some of my Cookies and Cream shake today....said it was awesome. Told her I mixed it in water with a spoon and she got mad at me and called me a liar.

Needless to say she wants a tub now. :D
