Background:
I've been working out for over three years....but until this year I haven't made a lot of progress. I started off at 145 at 6'1 and at the end of last year I was 166 6'4 not a lot of change(That was my lowest in 2 years, 196 high BF was highest). Part of that was due to training and diet mistakes and the other was that I had a hyperthyroid. Got most of that fixed(Still bouncing between hypo and hyper) and shot up to 217 around 15-17 BF%. I've now meet most of my strength goals with the exception of deadlifts which I want to hit 405 before I start thinking about cutting.

I've been looking forward to doing a stack like this for awhile, it's my reward for following through on my summer bulk. I'd be happy if in 8 weeks I gain 3 pounds of muscle and am able to DL 405(Lofty goal, fingers crossed). I've been following 5/3/1 for awhile now and am really enjoying it, my only "sin" while following it is..............I don't.........I don't squat...... because I get tremendous head pain when I do, I make sure I'm breathing good, have rest between sets, good form ect. but it's been a problem.

Thanks, not to sound like a hippy on the herb but I think for me the journeys better then the results, besides my fitness goals aren't unrealistic and are attainable through diet, training and a little supplementation.

Day 2

Starting weight 209.4

So I took my second dose of anabeta and my first dose of X-gels with GMS today. One thing I noticed yesterday is that the anabeta hunger pains started rather fast, no buildup needed. Yesterday diet was lose, celebrated a birthday with the whole family but definitely got more calories then I've been getting. Today's workout was great, had a solid pump and hit the numbers I needed.

I also took a sample pack(2 Srv) of the new jack3d and can't say I'm to impressed, the taste(Fruit Punch) was ok but not great, a mild stim feeling, solid tingles and it probably added to my pump a little.

Day 3

Weight 209.4 (+0 Would've thought it would fluctuate a little with extra carbs coming off a cut)

I was able to hit my calories yesterday, I for sure have a increase in hunger. I woke up today a little more sore then normal in my shoulders and lats but I think I'd chalk it up to the good workout I had yesterday. I found it interesting the scale didn't move either way considering I was on a cut and lost water weight but I'm not to worried. Today was back and and bi's, I had the gym all to myself so you know I was grunting, yelling and dropping weights. I was able to hit my deadlift numbers/reps and that's all I need for a good workout. A side note, after todays workout my forearms seemed to remain at a half pumped status all day.

Todays workout felt good, it may be placebo but I felt like I got a strength boost. I was able to curl 6x80 when I typically can't go past 60, I'll keep a eye on my strength in future workouts and report further since it's only day 5. I've also been feeling super sore, would the increase in doms from ARA happen so soon or am I just imagining it?

I believe that the doms are one of the first things you feel but there have been reviews where the ara works almost instantly I believe it really depends on how depleted you are of ara

That's what I'm thinking, I haven't had doms quit like this since I started 5/3/1

Day 6

Weight:210.6(+1.2)

This marks the end of the first week, so far the main difference has been hunger, very sore doms and awesome pumps. I look a tad bit leaner but then again it's probably from the extra carbs and all day pump. I've added 1.2 pounds, not sure if it's bloat or mass gained but it's on track so all's good. Diets been on point all week except for the first day. Today's workout was ok, I almost failed on the last rep of the bench but I grinded it out. The pump felt super good today, I took a couple pics I'll throw at the end as week 1 progress pic (Not cold but it'll do). Looking forward to week 2!

Ok, quick little weekend update, maybe I'm obsessing too much...but my weight has gone down to 209.2(-0.2). I've kept consistent with my diet and especially coming off a diet my body typically gains 2-3+ pounds water weight. It's virtually the same diet that brought me from 166 to my peak before cut weight of 217 so I know I should be adding at least water weight.

I'll keep a lookout next week, as long as I continue to gain strength I won't increase my calories to see how much Anabeta/ARA have effects on body composition/weight.
 
Day 9

Workout went well today, I'm now in the 5/3/1 rep range week which is my favorite, I hit the numbers I wanted and got a good pump. I also woke up at 12:30 which is weird for me considering I typically wake up at 8-9 and that's gonna mess up my calories for the day.

I feel the all day Anabeta half-pump(Dosed after workout because of nausea), I keep looking in the mirror at my forearms surprised they're still pumped! My workout pumps have been above average and feel like it's throbbing almost like I start feeling the DOMS in the gym. My bf(16-18%?) is to high to have noticeable veins though I've been seeing outlines in my arms again and a couple veins protruding from my shoulder.
 
Day 10

Weight:212(+2.6 Pleasantly surprised)

Workout was short, I tend to cut it back on my max effort week but never the less it was grueling. I left my straps at home so all lifts were raw, if I brought them I'm sure I'd hit 2 reps on the last set. I used mixed grip on my last 2 sets to help and was surprised I was able to lift the weights at all.

Day 12

Weight: 211.6(+2.2)

Got to the gym for leg day, felt like a good session was about to puke by the end. They are a lagging body part for me that I need to bring up, my hamstrings are fine(From all the deadlifting) but my quads leave a lot to be desired. Now that I've out grown all my skinny jeans I got no reason not to hit them hard....and yes I do/did wear skinny jeans....don't judge...

I am considering cutting my calories down to maintenance for more of a recomp, my BF% is already up there and I think I might be able to hit 405 DL by the end of this on a recomp which is my main goal. Any suggestions?

you'll get to 405 no problem man. it seems like for a lot of people, they get to 405 relatively quickly and then it's a struggle for every 10 pounds after. in my experience the best way to set a new pr is to NOT try and max out every week which a lot of people seem to do with the deadlift. focus on solid rep work n you're golden.

Yeah, 405 is easy for most people, and I'll feel like a weakling until I hit it lol. People who weigh 170-180 deadlift 405+ and my fata$$ at 210 can only do 370, but as the saying goes "We're all gonna make it!" And I've come a long way in the past couple months to complain to much.
 
Day 13

Today's workout wasn't the best, I missed my last rep on bench by a couple of inches. I miscounted my first working set and used more weight then I should've, I grounded it out and I think that's why I missed the last strength set. I've been having trouble getting in the "zone", especially on chest day. Maybe I need to switch my Pre, get new music or maybe now that I'm hypo it's sucking my motivation.

While these are good signs I've yet to see body composition changes or any major strength changes but it's only been 2 weeks and I still got 6 more weeks. I'm dropping the calories to around maintenance to hopefully recomp/cut and see some progress.
 
Day 16

Hit the gym today, glad the weekends over and I'm able to hit the iron. I was able to hit the OHP numbers but not go above on the last set. Doing front raises today was awesome, veins were more prominent this week and I got a full pump that made side laterals a bitch. On a side note I may have my first client today, it'll be interesting to say the least.

The super DOMS is beginning to go away(Or I've gotten used to it) but now I'm beginning to notice I'm sweating more, this workout I completely drenched my JACK3D shirt. I also miscounted the weight on my last set....was supposed to do 5x335 but did 5x345 but I can't complain about that.

lol that's funny man, I've done the same **** with miscounting/forgetting to take weight off and at the end you're like "wow". definitely a big part of lifting is mental toughness. good progress tho, if you hit 345 for 5 today, honestly you're already at a point you could pull 405.

Week 4: Update

Sorry I haven't updated the log in a bit, interviews, applications and potential clients(And maybe a little GTA 5) have been sucking up a lot of time. On the last week!!!!! So far it's been good, I've noticed more shoulder muscle outlines and veins in my forearms, nothing to crazy because of my BF%. The sides are starting to decrease(Hunger and soreness) but are still noticeable, I also have been having sore elbow joints the past week. With the decrease in calories I shed my water weight(4-6LB) and am now 206. No fear thou as this week ends my strength portion in my periodization and starts my volume/mass building period and I'll up my cals slightly again.

I'll try to update through the week more consistently but I can't promise, I didn't think I'd be so busy lately but gotta put in the work. I will do my reviews and ending pics at the end of this week. I'll try to hit 405 tomorrow just for $hits and giggles, but if I can't make it I can't complain about the strength gains made in 4 weeks.

Great workout today, was able to have the gym to myself so shirtless cable flys ensued. With the great pump today I couldn't resist. Also weight is 206.2 with some more water weight, and looking leaner and swoler than before. Just when I think I'm getting used to the soreness it hits again, my back and traps were super sore today.

Offtopic: Was offered a full time job in gym sales, but with crappy base (If I earn base in commision still lower the minimum wage). But a job is better than no job, anyone have experience/advise in this area?
 
if you want to work in the fitness industry and it's a nice gym then take it man. I worked at the front desk for 6 months, gotta get your foot in the door somehow...
 
What's up? Just got back from a couple day hike in the rain and mud, my lower body feels like death. Didn't help the I had a 40-50 pound bag on my shoulder. I'll write my final write-up and pics tomorrow.
 
Goals: I started this log at 209.4 and as of today I sit at 210.4(+1), might not look like a big difference but considering I cut to 204 and got back up and then some I think it's better than I expected(Although some of the shifting weight can be attributed to water/carbs).

My goals for this log are as listed:
Bench: 2x225(Didn't reach, but considering my chest is my weak spot and it was more of a bonus goal)
Deadlift:1x405(This was my main goal, started 6x325(E1RM=377) and was able to quickly add more weight and by the end hit it)
OHP:1x180(Again mostly a bonus goal, didn't feel safe enough to try and attempt it, I've had some shoulder/joint problems and it began acting up)
Weight: 215(Change of goals)
BF: Maintain or decrease(Decreased)

Overall: Don't know how well it'll show in the pics, but I can tell myself that I've dropped 1-2% BF(Self Pinch Test, Thigh size shrunk which is where I store a lot of BF) and added a pound to the scale(So I'll ballpark 3-5 LB Lean mass gain). For a month progress I can't ask for much more!
