Piston Honda: The Ultimate MAN (sponsored)

Day 17:

Jefferson lifts:
225/10,10,8,8
Sumo deadlifts w alt grip
225/6,6,5,5 w/ overhand grip 225/5
Stiff legged deadlift 245/5,5,4 225/5

--PRs on reps for Jeffersons and weight for sldl. Had to cut the session off at 30 minutes due to crushing back pumps. Added 4g of Taurine to the Gameday but didn't help. Last few leg workouts have really been limited by the pumps in the lower back. Weight has increased in lifts but the sessions aren't as long as the upper body ones.

Nice job on those PR's, hope you get past those back pumps.

Thanks gents! Wish I wasn't so limited in my grip strength; my legs can handle a heck of a lot more than I've been pulling.

I know what you mean. I have/used to have that problem. Started using chalk. Helped a bunch. But gotta clean up bar after so people won't bitch.

Ever use that liquid chalk stuff? Has me curious.

Afterwards, the chalk will come in handy.

Day 18: no gym today. If helping my future brother in law move into his new place counts as a workout, then so be it!

I love this stuff! Awesome grip without the mess. I can apply and have it dry within 30 seconds and then touch my iPod right after without making any mess. I got a sample from the Arnold, if you want man i'd be willing to send it to you. Let me know.

Where would I buy the stuff?

I've seen a couple place sell it; one being bb. I should buy it; otherwise I'd have to strap in for a ridiculous low amount of weight.

Day 19:

Hammer bench:
320/10, 360/8, 6 320/8
Hex shrugs:
245/10,9,8,8,7
Roc-it lat pulldowns:
230/8, 250/10,9,8,7 200/8
Farmers walks:
70 x 2 walks x 2
BoSu ball walkovers:
10 x 3
BoSu ball push-ups:
20,16

Feeling lean and yet full! Bringing a bunch of GDAs to my Easter meals tomorrow; those and PR-XT!

Thanks Tyga! Moving some tough weight (for me at least). I'm finding a rest day every now and then is really helping the strength and recovery. I have a week off now so my sleep will be great and the gains should keep coming!

How's that farmers walk feel? I just checked someone out on YouTube doing it. Looks great for hand strength!

Depends on the grip. If you close your thumb over your fingers it's good for grip. If you hold the weight thumbless it keeps your arms more in line and it allows you to keep the focus on crushing the lats. You'll feel a big pump in the tris this way to because you're fighting from bouncing up and down with the weights with each step, and you have to keep the weights fairly stationary. It blows up my whole body to be honest; legs and calves too!

Try to run with them, you'll isolate each leg and various muscles throughout as you shift legs.

Now you're just talking crazy! Lol

Haha I haven't tried it yet, but I read it in an article I was reading yesterday for improving squats.

If you really want to torch the core, just use one arm at a time.

Day 20:

No lifting (obviously), just a lot of ham, turkey breast, and potatoes. I guess this is a universal "carb up / refeed" day!

I recently dropped Nolvadren down to one cap a day to ease my joints a bit. Could be heavier lifting, or possibly the AI that's in PR-XT combined with the Nolvadren, but I've noticed some stiffness recently. Will readjust the dosages accordingly from here on out.

Almost three weeks in and I'm seeing some good vascularity and some leaning out, all with lifts going up in weight. Good stuff!

Brassaiopsis and arimistane are certainly tag teaming a bit.

What's your typical fat and water intake?

Water could certainly be upped a bit more, at least the past couple days. Fats could be upped too although I've been chowing down almond butter and jelly sandwiches recently to up the fats a bit more.

Happy Dyngus Day, you mo'fo's

Day 21:

Leg press:
450/8, 540/8, 650/10, 8, 540/10
-- did a few less reps to start so I could hit my new PR of 650! Then instead of last time going down to 540, I did another set of 650. Much more weight and reps this workout!

Twisting barbell lunges:
100 x 10,10,10,8
--had to work around a lot of crossfitters and such, so I had to make sure I didn't decapitate anyone with the barbell. Could def do more weight, seeing as how the first three sets did the same amount of reps.

Jefferson lifts:
245/ 9, 9, 8
--new PR for weight

Freemotion squat machine
300/5 warmup, 400/8,8,8
--usually I'll do dropsets on this machine, but it felt good to do these for last at max weight on the machine

--no back pumps like the last few leg sessions, so I was able to go 45 minutes or so. Half scoop of Gameday is the sweet spot on leg day! Got good rest and good food the night before and it seemed to help with today's session. The PR-XT and various GDAs helped with the Easter junk. One week left on this stack; could be a staple!

Should be a staple ;)

Good stuff with the Leg Press; but I'm thinking you should've gone decapitation style with your barbell lunges bro!

I should have taken out the weird kid who was swinging a 25 pound plate around his head to warm up his shoulders.

Day 22:

Close grip barbell rows:
160/12,11,10,9 135/10

Magnum (manufacturer name) machine shoulder press:
180/8, 220/10, 270,8, 230/7
--I don't know why I was able to do so much weight on these unless the angle of the seat made all that difference. Maybe a 70 degree pitch? If I was straight upright and seated I'd be struggling to do 130.

Meadows rows:
90/10,9,8

Ripcord rows:
70/4 (warmup) 80/8,7,6
--PR for weight on these, although at the heavier weight momentum is bringing the weight down and it's hard for me to control the weight on the bring-down.

--Took a full scoop and it was a bit much today! Lower rest times and a bit of volume made me rethink the dosage of Gameday. I'm at a full scoop for chest/back, half a scoop for legs, and maybe I should do 3/4 scoop for shoulders.

--Noticed my weight is down a couple pounds despite feeling hungry all the time. Weights are going up in my routines so I like that inverse relationship!

Day 23:

Cardio, typical 40 minutes, 650 calories on elliptical.

Decided to take a break from weights to save my shoulders. After yesterday's session, to do deadlift variations today and chest tomorrow would kill them. Strategic "day off" but still keeping fit!

Rest is part of training. I took all of last week off as part of a planned rest. Came back stronger this week. Always good to listen to your body! There's pushing it and then there's pushing it!

Lower back pumps from a natty?
