Snag continues his off-season REDEFINing

By the way I workout out first thing in the morning with no food on my stomach
ahhh i see..don't think you mentioned that in our talk? in any event, shame on me for not asking
well in that case...... :D
ahahaa, no not gonna go there, throw you off-track some more lol
but, i do have a certain fondness (and a recipe) for fasted upon rising training, utilize every once in awhile mostly with fat-loss in mind (but sometimes just for the hell of it, or when my schedule calls for it)
you have the purrfekt product with which to use in BCAA+SAA for this scheme..with that in mind, and if you are following bev-type guidelines, stick to <100g daily (i would still place majority in postWO meal ie breakfast for you) and that third-day carb-up rotation and you will do awesome
anyway, you'll figure it out..looking forward to LeanKleen in no time ;)

Sounds good to me. My other contest prep diet recommended 50 grams post workout then very low carb the rest of the day. It came up to close to 100grams carb total with the post workout carbs included. Seems we are normally on the same guidelines there, plus the 50 would only be on the 3 days I am lifting right now.

nice, sounds purrrrrrrfekt bro, i like it ;)

got my legs in yesterday, nice lil patented session
i'd been doing leg extension leading off quadwork for awhile, changing things up..went back to leading off w/ squats, enjoy the change (again)
5x15/12/10/8/8 ATG BB squats
3 set leg extensions (20/20/20) ss w/ lying leg curls (15/12/8)
3x15/12/8 RDLs
5x20/20/18/15/15 standing BB calf raises (alternating toes straight/in/out)

nice lil session

off day today, had to take care of crap :aargh:

back at it again tomorrow

dinner tonight

Invalid Link Removed

10oz 93% grilled turkey
4oz Hormel oven roasted/smoked turkey breast slices (all natty/no preservatives)
romaine salad w/ 2 TBS olive oil/balsamic vinaigrette mix, croutons
~640cals

made the switch today to my olive oil/balsamic mix, instead of the bleu cheese i been using
usually only use this in precontest, but ima shaking things up..
strongly considering the move to the "next step" in dietary discretion for me - that being, total gluten-free fare
i already eat pretty low-gluten anyway, but i am interested in going all the way, see what it brings...

that Hormel meat is pretty damn killer, great taste, i can tell a difference from other deli meats

Invalid Link Removed

other than that - since i'm looking gluten-free lifestyle, and i had crazy things to take care of today (day started off badly when i left my ignition in ACC mode, awoke with dead battery, had to charge and was already late for shyt) - was on the go, mauled some Subway chipotle chicken footlong on flatbread (golly those are swell)..wth better enjoy it while i can before i toss gluten..croutons gotta go too..

been hungry all day..cals will approach 4k by time this day is over, on an off-day

should make for a great training session in the morn

Can't wait to change things back to more bodybuilding style. I feel I have to get these power wo's in a couple times a year for about 5 weeks.

ok...done and done.... I am going to start stalking any and all threads you FinFlex guys are in. There is sooo much knowledge dropped on a daily basis that it is literally "cool." That and the food porn is outstanding!

oh, and subbed.

^^^^this. These reps are some great guys. Always willing to help lifters improve. They are also all over the different forums here and not just in the Finaflex products sections.

@mustang0341 - welcome my freind! :wavey:

@kenpo - thank you! :) appeciated!

i come to the forums this morning with a heavy heart
Federer has lost to Murray at the Australian
sad times
:(
wow what a great match tho, so much back & forth

now - to take my angst to the weightroom with me and burn it off
:run:

Did you play Tennis competitively? I don't know anyone who really "LIKES" tennis. I want it from time to time but only big matches. But I do love golf and watch the majors like it is a naked lady. But you are a serious fan.

nope, was baseball player
watched tennis here & there growing up, could never play it too swell, so never really picked up the game till my 30s, when the ex-wife (only sport she plays) got me out there with her
it just grew on me, was very challenging at first (i sink my teeth into challenges lol) so then i started studying the players and more of what makes the sport, the proper moves..footwork..etc
just became something i really, really enjoyed - and i enjoy the watching the pros immensely

conversely - i hate golf, never been good (lefty i am, slice everything)

Every time I played tennis when I was younger, I would knock the crap out of the ball like it was a baseball. Never got the angle down.

I grew up with Baseball on my own, and golf with my dad. Never liked golf much until I was older. Worked down to a single digit handicap and then had a son and had no time for it.

College Ball?

bingo! :p
lost track of the # of balls i chased down, knocking them over the fence with my baseball swing. LOL
is a different mentality, surely

College Ball?
college(briefly) then semi-pro, had a pro contract but got hurt before i ever played a game
spent next couple yrs, well, sidetracked by other things before i decided to try again mid-20s..local scout for Tampa Rays looked at me, had interest, but by that time i was supporting child & wife, couldn't deal with minor league pay + longshot chance (age)

so, played around in local leagues for awhile, had some fun, till i decided to get serious into bb'ing and shaping my physique

life happens man
still think i missed my calling in baseball, but oh well

Never liked golf much until I was older.
baseball mentality, again
plus i'm a lefty, and was always hard to find lefty clubs to rent for some reason
just no interest, chasing a lil white ball around, hitting it again, repeat..bleh

Cool man. Outfield? I always regret not realizing potential. I played a little D 3.
OF, 1B some, pitched some (had a great fastball, lil wild tho, wouldn't have made it pitching just not built for it long-term)..scouted/signed for OF position tho
even played some back-up 3B in college, dint care for it much (lefty again) but i was athletic enuff to fill the gap when needed

man, them were the days :wistful:

lil different protocol today..nothing drastic, just larger #'s

so, the preWO shake was 315cals w/ carbs
intraWO was 180cals w/ carbs
immediate postWO shake was 530cal w/ carbs

and thus, ~35min later, my postWO meal was..

Invalid Link Removed

1 packet Tuna Creations (herb & garlic)
6 slices Hormel natty deli turkey breast
broccoli
2 TBS natty PB
~430cals, trace carbs only

(btw - i never count veggie carbs in my cal totals, ever..bcaa's neither)

oh, and the workout itself: phantastik!
chest was so swole, i could balance a plate off the top of my upper pecs -- in the standing position! :hammer:

Love the Rays. Fav team...
hey chris
well they were actually the devil rays back then, and this was in 95 when they were just getting rolling (so like 3yrs before they actually fielded a MLB team)
they were doing everything on a shoestring budget back then (except scouts, had some good ones)
classy organization now tho indeed..mgr maddon is a beast

you stayin cool over there?
i'll trade ya places :D

Gladly trade...my bro is looking to pick up a state cricket contract at 17 yrs old.
He is meeting with the state coach today.
Will be playing against best in Aus in men's age.

Djokovic and Murray tonight. MUST WATCH.

Love price man. He is lethal and longoria with the bat. Will be following them for sure this season. May even buy a membership to watch it

go go, runner_79's bro! very cool

will be watching the final indeed, even if i don't really care for either of them (djok is no joke tho, i do enjoy watching him, damn surgeon he is)

rays got a squad - keep an eye on will myers this yr man, i think he's gonna be huge
(and these young stud pitchers they got are (archer/moore/hellickson) are gonna come into their own this yr)
i pick them to win the division, even if their offense overall still a lil soft
(but lookout for toronto, they're only a few pieces + a healthy bautista away from being right there!)

Baptista is crazy good.
I like hellickson. Good talent and he is tall, strong and long levers.

Can't wait for the season to start.

Yeah. They aren't the same without the old guard. But I still love em. Wish TBS still aired them. I hope the Uptons work out. They haven't lived up to their potential hopefully they will in Atlanta.

i think they will..brothers playing together, and with that talent, can fix a lot of other issues that may have been dragging them down
bj will always be a streak-hitter tho, i don't know that you should expect anything different from him

@chris - see? the joker was surgical once again..he is, simply, the best tennis player currently (and that includes roger) - and has youth on his side
don't think anyone touches this guy for a few yrs..
forgot to mention - i watched a lil of the womens final previously, had to mute the damn tv
azarenka has got to be the most annoying player on tour with her shrieking (other than serena with her pooor attitude)
at least sharapova is halfway cute-sounding when she shrieks, and she doesn't do it to that extent
wow
li na continues to get better with age, playing well @almost 31y/o

moving on to cover other sports - how 'bout the parity in college basketball this yr? who is #1?
i'd like to say my own Hoosiers, but they still have tests to pass
should be good match against michigan state today..big 10 = toughest conference in country, by far

and that was sports..in other news:
shaking up the order of training (again), getting a leg session in
different format/structure than last which was quad-based, this one will have emphasis on hammies and calves will be worked heavier and slower
and, i'm off......

enjoy your sunday guys :)

Cool convos going on in here. Wish I had been athletic enough to try and pursue things at least through college, but at the same time if I had it probably would have lessened my growth towards my current profession now (would have had less time to pursue other things with all that commitment in college). Still think it may have been an awesome experience.

Figured Snag was a good person to ask this..but do you like kale? Never tried it but randomly think I might add it into my diet and see if it sticks. If you have I would love to know what the best ways to add it (good food combos, etc.). Yes completely random but o well. ;)

kale, bleh..nope not a fan
healthy benefits, solid nutritionally, but huh-uh
one can juice anything up with the right seasonings/spices etc, but i have never found the right combo for kale :D

Ok thanks. Figured it might be rough that is why I asked (knew there was a very high probability you have tried it). I may still give it a go. :D

surely, always should try for yourself

broccoli & asparagus for me, the stray cauliflower and carrots from time to time..
once a yr (maybe twice) i'll maul some corn

:p

I hate asparagus. Never enjoyed it. I eat so much broccoli though and probably need more diversity in my veggies. :o

prolly not
i know we (as educated bb'ers) like to think we need 'diversity' in our dietary intake - and in regards to protein sources in general, i have no problem with that (still will not do pork, other than the occasional ribs)..amino profile diversity and all that
veggies tho (fruits to a lesser degree), meh.
fact is, greens are the best veggie you can get, no comparison
diversity within your greens?
nah, don't get carried away brother ;)
for the record, i eat 2 serving broccoli daily (sometimes 3) as well as romaine salad
my bases are well covered..anything other than that, is simply diversity for the taste buds :D

diversity and healthy balance overall tho - can't argue
you would do well, taking that approach in most everything - life included

love me some spinach! (hey, it worked for popeye) :D
collard greens are cool - definitely gotta be done right, else i feel like a damn horse
greens ftw! (i don't touch peas tho)

all this food talk..and i'm still hungry these days
think i'll take in ~500-600g carbs today, shake it up (a 'carb-up' if you will)
couple potatoes (sweet & russet)..some jasmine rice..got some quinoa left over..grape nuts..of course Egg McSnag for breakfast already w/ fruit
works out well as i minimized my simple sugar intake (only postWO shake this day, nothing pre or intra)

Agreed, and I love me some spinach, broccoli and asparagus. Brussels sprouts too!

Ya good discussion...I love me some collard greens...but usually when I have them it isn't the healthiest variation. ;)

yup lovin the talk! (ex took my crockpot in the split)
i miss that thing

staying on food topic (altho i'm already getting some DOMS in hammies from crazy heavy RDLs ss w/ standing leg curls this day..so does that make it NDOMS then? non-delayed-onset-muscle-soreness? enquiring minds want to know..)

well under halfway thru the day, and sitting on 2050cals to this point
kinda wanted to hit 5k anyway, so we appear to be on track
it is quite fun, eating large amounts of clean foods..
seriously, i like this

wth..lil pic of snags today
was in hiding, no intention of being seen, but in case something happens to me..or i freeze to death inside my home one night..
at least you'll know snags was feeling good and standing tall in pct with all this clean eating and crazy variances :p

actually - i ended pct today anyway, off to the next portion of off-season

and back into hiding

:wall:

and pic of meal #.. ? hell i don't remember, just know that this put me over 3k for the day (3200) with 3 or 4 meals left
(depends on when i feel like going to bed)

Invalid Link Removed

8oz chicken breast
broccoli
2 slices toasted 12-grain bread w/ 1/2 TBS butter
(fats low this particular meal..and the bread alone was 260cals/50g carbs)
1/2 cup pineapple in natty juice (no i dint eat that whole container! :p)
~600cal all told, shade under 70g carbs (not counting broccoli)

another meal down
(sorry was eating it as i made it so looks a lil picked over, got phone call i had to take while cooking, hate those damn inopportune interruptions) :p

Invalid Link Removed

5oz 90% sirloin
8oz sweet potato
salad w/ oil&vinegar (and croutons! yey)
2 rice cakes for dessert (full-sized ones, white cheddar, a lil cleaner than the smaller, tastier ones)
~600cals

800cals to go to hit 5k, 2 meals left
worked out swell :yup:

i feel like a damn 5hr energy commercial today:
had a great training session..went tanning..finished my tax preparation..read a book..watched IU win..did dishes and cleaned some..did laundry..ate a gazillion calories..took pictures of food, myself, and played with you guys all day :p
(wait till you see what i do in the next 5 hours)
LOL

i'm spent on the pics today guys, hope ya'll enjoyed
just finished next-to-last meal lil but ago, nothing sexy
(3/4 cup grape nuts + 8oz almond/coconut combo milk, can of tuna)
last feeding will be simple protein shake + natty pb + some heavy whipping cream
totals for day will be 315p/585c/155f

tomorrow will still employ fairly hi carbs (not that high tho) before i switch to:
reduction of carbs (still employing some rotation), going hi-fat and hi-protein all the time in general, shooting for 4k daily
gotta streamline & simplify for awhile
end goal to be ridiculously shredded and still full-looking come spring

we move along.

What did you do to that poor Sirloin ... where's the red ...where's the blood!!

yeah was a lil bit too done lol, usually do like a lil pink
(told you i was sidetracked on the phone)

egg mcsnag got a bit of a facelift today..
5oz sirloin
3 whole eggs
2 slices toasted 12-grain bread
medium grapefruit
~750cals

yeah was a lil bit too done lol, usually do like a lil pink
(told you i was sidetracked on the phone)

The better the cut the morre rare I like it, within the medium rare to rare range. Would probably have to be Kobe beef for me to go blue...

indeed
i love the taste of medium rare so long as it's a good cut
the sirloin i have currently is not all that great taste, so i do cook it a lil longer anyway..
not a fan of done/well-done, takes all the fun out of it
perfect world: give me a tenderloin seared a few times on each side, pink in middle, a lil blood when you slice..mmmmmmmm yum :food:
