Thanks man! When I get my drive locked in PRs are usually a constant occurrence. Lifting for me is more mental then physical. My mind can make or kill a workout.

Exactly rite brotha! Gotta stay possitive....u deff are driven! the mental aspect of lifting in my opinion is what separates the men from the boys. I have buddies that just won't push the limits with certain weights cause they think they just wernt made to lift. Its like saying I can't get stronger....bull ****! Bump that weight up and do it!

A lot of win going on in here this morning. I love starting my day with this sh!t. Don't sweat the weight gain AB, it just means you are going to crush that lower weight class since you are pushing numbers by the mass monsters.

LTL....get some bubba!!

So this is what I'm noticing... I have been stuck at 260... Every time... Don't know what's up with that...
Ok, you got the sugarcoated responses, but I am going to keep it real with you, because that is what drives results. Being critical is important.

Let me ask you this. What does your PL coach say? Where does he want your weight/want you competing(275, 242, etc)? Does he want you gaining weight?

Bottom line is, if you are not gaining weight, and you need/want to be, you/we need to fix that. Where can you make changes(dietary) to get the scale moving again.

It is good your lifts are progressing, but could they be progressing faster if you were gaining weight?

It is hard to be critical of ones self, and it is hard to be critical/objective to a friend, but it is important. I train a few friends and at times it is hard to give them a dose of reality(in terms of body composition, lifts, etc), but as a friend and their coach I NEED TO.

Bottom line is don't beat yourself up over it, but if you want/need to be gaining weight then address the problem. Don't let it go 6-7-8weeks without change. You are wasting valuable time.

I typically try not to focus on the scale, but with something like this, where competition is involved(weight classes, etc), sometimes the scale holds a bit more importance, than an avg joe just lifting.

^^*this is great advice. I was just getting ready to say that when weight stalls up cals. I believe I read somewhere that weight generally stalls every 3-4 weeks if cals don't change because your body adjust to that amount of cals. For being 260 I'd say cals should probably be in the 6000 area for bulking. I'm following a guy on another board who's a 300 lb beast and he bulks on 8-9000 cals. Sh1ts serious lol doing great so far man. Don't beat yourself up. Your only 3 weeks in aren't you?

Week 4 and thank you both! Frank man great info. Weight isn't an issue Tbh... It's a bonus cuz I do want my body comp to change. My coach thinks I will be in the 275 range. I'm not stressing just confused. I do look thick but I am retaining water well

I agree that diet is most important... I eat all day everyday and not afraid to cheat to get those extra macros in. I'll up it more but my diet is persistent. More weight I gain the more I eat

When is your meet?

Holding water has to be one of my least favorite things about "gaining". I just feel like a bloated mess.

Ha I wish I had that problem while I was bulking! I can remember almost puking being so full trying to hit 4000 a day lol

Next month or a month after. Not exactly sure but I will be heavy dosing Halotestin at that point. Pulsing. Agreed on the bloat. Makes me feel fat and like I'm not accomplishing anything

If you are drinking shakes, and not already adding 1-2tbsp of oil in them, try that. Will be a simple change that won't require anymore chewing..heh I have been making some calorie dense whole food(mostly) shakes in excess of 1,000 calories. Helps with those times I just don't feel like chewing anymore..

**** I have even made a "chicken shake". haha

A chicken shake? God that sounds TERRIBLE!

If your worried about bloat eat less carbs. Get low gi types like brown rice and sweet potato. Stay the hell away from sugars and bad cabs from stuff like pop tarts and waffles and my personal Nemesis, pancakes. It'll also help keep BP in check.

Actually wasn't bad. I'm at the point where I can't eat chicken anymore without gagging. Lol

I'm sure he will have MLS making pop tart shakes before the end of the day.
Ice cream, whole milk, and crumbled pop tarts. Poptart blizzard.

Most "clean" carbs bloat me more.

I think were all at that point. I've been avoiding chicken like the plague. Thank God I shot a deer and its a pretty adequate replacement.

Pop tart blizzard sounds pretty good...

All I know is I saw Kleen post about a scoop of low fat vanilla ice cream dropped into some flaming hot sweet potato casserole. I went out and bought everything, so when the day comes I am ready!

Haagen Dazs...2 scoops whey FTW

Fats man nothing like adding some good ol Coconut Oil to your shakes MMMMM So creamy or Heavy Cream OMFG YUM! If you don't want to gain any fat while doing it then keep carbs low that meal.

AMEN Frank! A pizza shake sounds better to me, then again a like chicken on my pizza there is a thought... Blending food up sounds gross to people because they think of a shake as a cold and sweet thing but some slow cooked chicken with BBq sauce or gravy MMMMMMM, or add a can of chicken noodle soup for the liquid base... Drink that ish up or eat it with a spoon keep it hot of coarse! How about brisket and bbq sauce? Spicy Buffalo Chicken Shake? Yeah tell me that wouldnt taste good. Just a different consistency, same flavors. Combine things that go well together...

Thank me later...

Ya my hunger hurts at times haha I ate a pizza and a half last night to the dome!

I know about 4/5lbs of water makes me look way different mirror wise. Maybe too much carbs/garbage that day haha...

Fats & Carbs with a meal Kleen... I've read about this before. What's the story do the fats slow down the carbs thus promotion the carbs to be stored as fat?

Guess I can't butter my cinnamon raisin Ezekiel toast now. :dunno:

Im not sure where Kleen was going with his statement because there are a few reasons one may choose to limit carbs in that situation.

However some general thoughts on fat/carbs is.

1. Limit dietary fat in the presence of high levels of insulin. Dietary fat will be more easily transported to adipose tissue.

2. Add fats to carb meals in order to slow digestion and have a more stable rise in blood sugar.

I personally always add fats to carb meals. However if I'm doing a "refeed" where insulin levels are going to be extreme I try and limit fat as best I can.

My pre wo meal is actually much like what AZ describes. Raisin bread + butter or cream of rice with butter/coconut oil.

My pre meal is usually 1/2 cup oatmeal with dried cherries mixed with my milk/orange creamsicle whey. Craving now!!
