We can rebuild him... Joint Mechanic Style. MST Sponsored Log

Inarius

Well-known member
The objective of this log will be to try out the new Joint Mechanic from MST and lift some heavy weights in the process.

About me:

Age: 24

Weight: 250lbs

Height: 6ft 2

Current Supplements: Joint Mechanic

Dosing: 6 caps per day. 3 morning/3 evening

Training: 5/3/1 for Powerlifting

PRs:
Bench: 315x4, 355 x1
Squat: (A2G in just a belt): 315x8, 425 x1
Deadlift: 510x2, 550x1

What I expect out of Joint Mechanic:

I expect to get some help with my injured shoulder. I injured it a few weeks ago benching and it has prevented me from benching heavy ever since.

What else hurts...
Tendonitis in my elbow
Minor case of arthritis in my hands (I'm a software engineer... 8+ hours on a computer every day)

Hopefully Joint Mechanic can help me keep it together as I progress through 5/3/1 for Powerlifting and start making some gains.

Feel free to ask any questions in the log and I'll try my best to answer them.

Here is my current training log:
http://anabolicminds.com/forum/workout-logs/215629-power-size-inarius.html

I will be keeping both up to date as I progress.

IN! I know what it's like to deal with joint issues! Used to take Universal (Animal) flex for rotator cuff during accutane.

Hopefully this works out well for you. Any glucosamine or chronditron?

Millennium puts out quality supps so I am anxious to see how this compares.

I am in brother hopefully this heals you up. I am itching to start a 5-3-1 run now that I have read the whole book. I am relatively sure I could handle this program without breaking my body into pieces.

Glad you finally got this man! Did they send you two bottles? I would run 6 caps a day for 2 weeks and then drop it to 3 caps. No need to blast through it so quickly.

Good to have you! Which one did you read? The original book? I'm doing programs out of his third book, the one that is powerlifting specific.

Yeah man, I got two bottles. I'll do just that.
haven't heard anything from millennium for awhile...where's ctduece been hiding?
No idea, I sent him a message to join in on the fun. We'll see if he comes out of hiding to join us.

Nice. That's what my boss takes for his torn acl knee and he's a a marathon runner!

Friday night Military press

Got to the gym... covered my left pec and shoulder in icy hot and spend 20 minutes doing all kinds of warm ups. I decided to proceed when I felt warmed up and things were feeling ok.

Military press
bar x20
65 x10
85 x10
95 x3 (set 1)
115 x3 (set 2)
135 x3 + 5 extra reps
Kept my grip closer than normal on these sets to put more pressure on my triceps and less on my shoulders.
No real pain, just some aches after the set was over.
Project Max: 168

Seated db press
Took these real light. Just to test them out.
50's 4 sets of 10

BW Dips
Things weren't feeling too bad so I tried out some of these
Tried to keep all the pressure on my tris again.
3 sets of 10

DB Side Raises super set with Bent Over Rear Delt Raises
20's for 3 sets of 10

Fat Bar Curls
5 sets of 10 with 50lbs + bar weight.

Post Workout: Spent some time stretching out my shoulder and pec. Applied some more icy hot and then drove home.

Today, my shoulder feels tight. I'll be warming it up and stretching it out some more throughout the day.

4 doses into Joint Mechanic now.

20 minutes of ice pack...20 minutes of heating pad.

take it from an old guy who knows pain, lol.

looking at ingredients in joint mechanic i suspect it will take a week to see results then gradually get better day by day, just my thoughts....

Spent today sighting in my rifle for deer season. Nothing new to report yet. This week is moderate weight for 5 reps. Squats tomorrow.

How is the shoulder feeling?

After warming it up and icing it a few times this weekend and dosing 6 caps per day, it feels pretty good. I'll be benching tomorrow.

Nice workout. I like the approach your taking with this, keeping everything warm and mobile!!

What shoulder warm up are you doing? Have you tried the diesel crew one? Definitely helped me a ton when I was recovering from my rotator cuff injury

I do the diesel crew warm up and a few other exercises... like shoulder dislocations and some arm circles and the standard rotator cuff things you see everyone do in the gym.For those of you that dont know...

Warm up looks intense. I do the posterior ones and front lateral raises. The scarecrow ones look very interesting.

Skwat day.

Very frustrating day today. Not happy at all with the results.

Skwats
135 x5
135 x5
225 x5
245 x5 (1st set)
285 x5 (2nd set)
325 x5 +1 extra rep
Estimated Max = 390lbs

To be honest... my conditioning is terrible. 6 reps was easy, I was just gassed and couldn't go anymore. I had at least another 2 in me but I was just out of breath. More sled work is in my future.

Leg Press
4 plates per side
5 sets of 10 reps
1 min rest between sets.

My lungs must be punished.

Calf Raises
3 sets of 10 reps

The turf was tied up tonight so I decided to throw in 3 sets of barbell complexes for some conditioning work

Complex was this:
Stiff legged deadlifts x7
BB Rows x7
Cleans x7
OHP x7
Front Squat x7
Good Mornings x7
Squats x7

did 3 sets with 65lbs. These sucked hardcore.

Dosed 6 caps again today. No shoulder problems during the complex but it was light weight. Bench day tomorrow. I plan to put Joint Mechanic to work. :)

song seemed a little overly synthezised to me, but then i still think of led zep as cutting edge, lol.

I've been doing those scarecrows for awhile now. 2 sets of 15 reps are brutal.

135 x10
185 x5 (1st set... super light)

Face Pulls
100 reps @ 75lbs. Same story here.

Conditioning...
Prowler Pushes - 40 yards
2 plates

Overall not an impressive night, but its a work in progress. No pain during the benching until I got to the db work. Now it aches a bit. Icing it and working through it. Definitely noticing an improvement over last week though. Just have to keep reminding myself that slow and steady wins the race. It's going to be a while before I'm benching over 300 again but I feel that when I do get there, I'll have a much stronger base and will be able to do some damage.

100 facepulls?! Man, you must have been gassed!

I may have to try this, I was happy at first with the AX athletes joint repair but it seems the effects are fading after a few bottles :(

Have you ever incorporated band pulls in your training?

What kind of band pulls are you talking about? Deadlifting with bands? Or the rear delt movement, band pull aparts? Or another variation that I can't think of right now?

pulling bands apart. just remembered this one i did a while back in between floor presses to keep the shoulders warm

Yeah, I've done them before as a rear delt movement and do them in my warm up. As an exercise, I use a mini band and do about 5 sets of 20. Give a great pump. When I do them in my warm up, I just use half of a band, not the whole thing doubled up, and do a few light sets just to get the blood moving.

Glad to see you are back to normal again, man. Matt was telling me about your situation. Sounds tough.

you know it. I took a long break to get some gym time in with some conventional lifts but I couldn't drop them altogether :)

Good to hear! My new gym has all kinds of kettle bells... I picked one up one time to move it out of my way... so at least I've held one lol.
