I think you should get your diet together first and then, if you have extra cash, think about stacks :).

The way to lose weight can vary from person to person. How much extra fat tissue do you have? If you have a lot, then even a small change can make your body to lose some of that fat.

In my opinion, paleo diet works really well. Just make sure that you get the appropriate macro nutrients depending on the physical activity you're doing.

the absolute best supplement is a good diet. If you want help building a diet, lay out what you eat now. Its easier to tune what you currently are eating to be better than it is to expect you to be compliant with a diet that is 100% different than you are now.

Download the app Lose It! Use the app and log all food everyday. Lift heavy 3 times a week and focus on the big movements (squats, deadlift and bench press). Forget the stacks and such until you get close to your ideal composition. See my thread "starting over after 19 years" Good luck!!!

One meal a day is working wonders for me. Generally tho, at least cut out junkfood (chips, chocolate, candy, fried foods, deep fried foods) and start eating lean baked/grilled meats. Don't eat fruits while cutting (tho they are healthy for you, they are high in sugar, which your body will burn first. Since you are trying to get it to burn stored energy (fat) stay away from sugars and processed foods alltogether) eat complex carbs (pasta, rice, etc) and green vegetables. The greener the better. Follow that alone and you should lose a considerable amount of fat. Good luck!

Umm people should never stop eating fruits man. Limit them sure, two servings of different fruits. Missing out on waaaay to many vitamins and phytochemicals otherwise. :)

Honestly if you want a straight forward answer on how to lose weight... calories in vs calories out.quite honestly as long as your tracking your macros you dont even need to completely give up your favorite foods. it just tends to be very hard to track macros and calories on lets say a piece of pizza =p. someone above mention an app for counting your calories and macros and i def agree with that.

Log all of your calories to include the stuff you think don't add up like mayo. If you're sedentary and eat like crap and are moderately to extremely obese then making small adjustments to diet and training are probably best to avoid going in too hard and risking injury. If you're just a little overweight and slightly active then fine tuning your diet and training can benefit you tremendously. If you happen to know how to eat properly and train and are having problems with going through with the right things then a personal trainer at a gym with nutritional training or one online can actually be an awesome way to go. It's what I did even though I knew all of the basics, having someone that knows a ton about physiology, diet, supplements and realistic lifestyles can get you going in the right direction and very quickly

If you are just starting out to everything then a few pointers...

Find an online food tracking program like fitday.com
Find your Basic Metabolism Rate (BMR)
Find the caloric intake needed to sustain your current weight and subtract 500 calories and monitor your weight for a while and see how it goes. If your metabolism is shot from fasting and supps then you may need time to get normal again before you see any real gains.
Try a generic 40% Protein 40% Carbs and 20% Fat macro approach
Eat slow digesting carbs like potatoes over sugary foods.
Eat plenty of green vegetables
Try to break your total calorie intake over 4-6 meals throughout the day and make sure to drink plenty of water.

If you belong to a gym then get there and use it. If you don't and or one isn't accessible then get out there and walk/jog /run/bicycle and body weight exercises like push up pull ups and sit ups.

Hopefully some of that helped.
