Article: Layne Norton On BCAAs

I always have used BCAAs in my regiment regardless of my goals, (bulking, cutting, recomp ect.) I'm starting to cut right now and have heard some info on the the silk amino acids (SAAs). Heard anything about em? Would Recommend them for use to maintain muscle during a cut?

been researching them myself but cant justify the cost...

Good article. I've gone on a caloric deficit and am using BCAA mid day and before bed to get my protein while still cutting calories. I think its helped, but $$ wide it can ad up fast. I also add additional leucine to my scoop of whey in the morning , pre workout, and post workout.

My mental question is, is that additional leucine raising the amino blood level even though the whey has to broken down before the amino's are free?

I personally have some BCAAs but I can't say for 100% sure if I need em. I know muscle marinade has aminos in it as well, so for me that 1 scoop a day will at least get me something... :) as long as you're eating for the most part u should be good.

I take bcaas pre and sometimes intra, but have always used whey post. Do you think there would be a benefit to taking bcaas post instead of whey + leucine? Would it be significant enough to justify the cost and loss of one of my favorite drinks of the day?

I would take food/protein after a work out.
I only take BCAAs because they are in my muscle marinade and I usually drink that b4/during my work out.

Very good info....BCAAs are a BIG part of my daily regiment (especially considering I'm doing intermittent fasting)

I've been using Layne's Ultimate Cutting Diet from SimplyShredded.com as my diet plan whenever i cut and i swear by it. I've been using Cell-Tech during my workouts for quick carbs and creatine, but only take protein pre and post instead of pre, post, and during like Layne recommends, since i don't think the chocolate Whey i have will mix with cell-tech too well. After reading this it just seems like BCAA is the missing piece in my intra-workout supplementation. Picking some up today!

I personally use BCAAs (4:1:1 ratio + glutamine) throughout my daily diet regardless of what my current goals are. It's added cost in my supplement regiment, but it's 1 of the 5 staple supplements (whey, creatine, BCAAs, multi and fish oil) I urge all friends and clients to use regardless of their current economic status. I find that ordering BCAAs in bulk powder form, then adding them to shakes, really helps cut down on the costs. It cuts down on recovery time and definitely protects that hard earned muscle.

I just re-read that haha... I meant there isn't really a reason to buy aminos haha, especially if you're getting in a lot of food...

Uh yeah I re read that and was like WTF haha

No, Layne's theory that is backed by science says different, but ok.

So you think u NEED (an amino) supplement to gain or keep muscle?
It helps but I don't think it's needed...
