Please pray for this boy

I don't know this boy, but I also know his story won't get covered in the media, so...

This boy, Carter Strange, was savagely beaten by a gang of 8 in Columbia, SC at night time while he was jogging home trying to meet his curfew. For some reason, there seems to be a rise in white victimization these days, and this boy has seen more of it than I can imagine. He received a broken eye-socket, destroyed nose, brain swelling, etc. He requires multiple facial reconstruction surgeries, and the police say had a good samaritan not found him, he would have died. Apparently, it was a mugging, because after beating the holy hell out of him, they stole his cell-phone. Ya, that was worth it. Anywho, like I said, please pray for him. I don't know why, but his story just really hit home with me today, and I really want to get his story out there. I know EXACTLY what you're thinking, and came to the same conclusion. I just wish I was there (or ANYBODY) to help this guy. Damn shame.
 
I'll keep my mouth on the internet, although I have my thoughts and Im sure they're similar. My condolences and prayers for this family. And they wonder why I carry a weapon living by Newark??
 
This really is a good forum. People really care about others on here, and it makes my heart swell with pride to be associated with you guys! I don't know about you guys, but I'm at the end of my rope. I'm knocking at irrationality's door, and it's pretty unnerving.
 
I guarantee you none of them will do jail time. The 19 year old will get probation, while the rest will get community service. Literally brings tears to my eyes just thinking about the HATRED one must have for a young white BOY to do that to them. And it is so obvious the robbery was an afterthought. You don't almost kill someone to take their cell-phone. Hell, I guarantee you he would have gladly given his cell-phone away before the broken eye-socket. They WANTED to beat a white boy, plain and simple. Oh, here we go. I'm not supposed to be talking like this, lest I get the FBI at my door. Thank GOD for allowing me to have the friends that I do, because my life may have taken a dramatically different turn without them.

Relax man, I know what youre sayin but be aware the media is always drawn to cover tragedy over the good things that happen in this world. There's just as many people trying to move in the opposite direction, you should never see it on the news.
 
Im sorry to hear that. Ive had a similar experience but not to that extent, but i can see why this story struck you.

I think a lot of it is becoming "reverse racism" where we once started to merge became such a fear of one another it made things worse. We still never solved the original problems. I'm speculating here but i think the cell phone wasnt the target. They just wanted a helpless white kid to take down and he had a nice phone. Then again I dont know if he was makin racist comments himself.

All I do know is that we as a species haven't really progressed all that much in equality. Other animal species on this planet behave better that us. We ****ed up, its not too late but its pretty close.

Amazing post! You're right, we are the only species on earth that tortures our own people for the fun of it. If you get a chance, look up Channon and Christopher Newsom. Absolutely most horrible story I've ever NOT heard of. The media didn't cover it at all, and it is absolutely HORRIBLE. Cliffs Notes: Newly married white couple gets car-jacked, gang-raped/sodomized for days in front of each other, castrated, the man was shot three times, and then set on fire while alive, while his wife was fed bleach, had a breast cut off, urinated on, and ended up in a plastic bag suffocating to death in the murderer's trash can. Bet you never heard about it! I realize I'm weak when it comes to stories like this, but it took me, literally, DAYS to get the mental image out of my head, it literally traumatized me. Can you imagine the fear these people went through? Ugh, well, I s'pose it's time to buy a gun. I refuse to be a victim.

I just realized that my posts above have taken advantage of this boy's ordeal, and I regret the direction I have taken this thread. I apologize! I did not mean to make it about me and my views, I am sincerely sorry! I will delete/edit the above threads, as it only cheapens this boy's trauma as some kind of personal mission statement. Please don't let my previous posts from stopping you coming in here and wishing Carter Strange the best recovery! Sorry again guys!

Its all good man, when we get riled up we speak irrationally and sometimes things get said because they're the easy way out.

We dont know if the boy did anything to instigate this or if he was a random target. Regardless, no boy deserves this. And no one has any right to inflict this. But to immediately jump to blame race, even if it is the motive, doesnt make it any better. Two wrongs dont make a right. Like I said, reverse racism.
 
that's a terrible story, I will keep the kid in my prayers. WTF is this world coming too??? I am afraid of what my kids are going to have to see as they grow up...
 
While I was doing cardio today I saw a news cover about a 70yo man getting mugged in a cemetary visiting his parents site. Lost about 2300 cash he was going to use to pay his taxes with.

Im getting a gun license.

Apparently, Carter's doing better (still needs more surgeries probably) and is in this interview. You should watch! Again, thanks for helping him with your prayers, I believe they helped! Ordinarily, a person would not be looking this good this fast without God's intervention.

I haven't watched it, yet, but I'm glad to hear this. The power or prayer is an incredibly strong thing and it really has no bounds.
