My biggest fear is that Danny McBride will suffer the same fate as Will Ferrel 5 years ago. If he gets typecast as "kenny powers", it will get old.

FTFY. ;)

I'm feeling old now.what is sucker punch?

It looks to be a very awesome movie indeed. I really want to see this one.
It's showing in my area at those huge I-MAX theatres. Gotta check it out.

Any news on Sucker Punch? My friend ended up not seeing it this weekend. Seems that most reviews say that you shouldn't go into it expecting a solid story.

I watched Leon (The Professional International Version,) this weekend for the first time in a few years. I forgot how awesome that movie is.

That movie was what had me make the jump from laserdisc to dvd. At the time, buying the import laser disc from the UK cost $125, importing the DVD from japan only cost $30. That $100 difference covered half the cost of moving to a DVD player and it was enough to make the difference...

Isn't that the fatal flaw of Zack Snyder's films? I blame it on the not-so-popular comic books his movies are based on. The focus seems to be more on the artwork than the storyline.

thats really ok by me though. my mind can be as engrossed by visuals as by plotline. Tell me seriously at this point, when was the last time you saw any movie or tv show that wasn't derivative of some prior movie or tv show other than in small details?

Agreed on both accounts there. I do enjoy a "beautiful" movie, as the same with one that has amazing sound. Last one that I really enjoyed was Alice in Wonderland - excellent visuals. That, and my daughter loves it. I've seen it atleast 25 times, sometimes 2-3 times in one day. (Ugh...2 yr olds...)

As for originality... I'm not sure that really exists anymore.

Even if I name one, there's still the probability one exists and I just never saw it.

I think if they have some action scenes, cool-looking monsters/villains, and show a lot of that blonde chick with the pigtails, it will be enjoyable.

back in the 90s one of my favorite movies was "What Dreams May Come". I pretty well dislike robin williams as an actor, and the movie was depressing, but the visuals were fantastic

Own that one. I do really enjoy it. It not only has good visuals, but the story is actually quite touching.

One of my favorite flicks of all time has to be Big Fish. It's a Tim Burton flick, but without all the cheese, Danny Elfman music, and Johnny Dipshyt. If you haven't seen it, see it. It's pretty much the most accurate portrayal of how my mind processes the world that I've ever seen outside my own mind. Yup.

It's few and far between these days.

The ones that succeed at the task are often too avant garde for the common movie-goer to appreciate. They are usually just an attempt to win an oscar.

It's all about the moneyz.

last really original film i saw was where the guy lost his memory and had to make notes for himself. denis hopper played a cop who used the guy to do hits for him. damn-can't remember the name???

Have that on dvd too :) Tim Burton has yet to do anything bad.

Memento... the movie plays in reverse... quite a bad ass movie!

Eh... not a fan of Nightmare or Corpse Bride. And I'm about sick to death of Johnny Depppppppppppppplalalalalalapoot. His version of Willy Wonka kinda creeped me out. I think it was because he sports the same haircut as my HS spanish teacher. She pulled it off better. :)

Oh talking like that about nightmare before christmas will get you shanked at my house. By one of the kids no less ;)

Do you feel watching Alice in Wonderland 25 times may have had any effect on that?

I was just thinking about that flick. Nail on the head. Big Fish was such a good movie.

That's exactly what I was thinking. About this time of year is when I imagine some people 'give up' on their health goals they set at Christmas/New Years. And better deals than $1 per lb for weight too.

That's a good find. One time I found a 300lb. Olypmic Set with straight olympic bar, olympic ez-curl bar and adjustable olympic bench all for $20. Dude was only 5 miles from where I live. Too sweet. For real. :yup:

Keep looking through there everyday because those really good deals don't stay around for long. :whiner:

Instead of a squat rack, I think you ought to look for a power-rack like you mentioned the other day. It will be great for squats and so much more. You can set the catch bars at whatever level you want and never need a spot for benching or over-head presses. You can do rack-deads........oh....:32:
The endless possiblities.

And great for 4 inch or so lock outs! That helped me with my upper end rep travel.

I love my Power Rack. Those pins have saved my ass many times!

christy's auction house here in indy has a day for nothing but athletic equiptment. if no one else is bidding on something you want you can get it on the cheap. also yard sales!!!!!!! a lot of yard sales advertise in newspaper and give a number-you can call them and see if they have anything you are interested in. after over 20 years, my basement is fully equipted.

i bought a very close to new treadmill that came out of a fitness center for under $1,000.

hmmmmm, I'll have to look for some local auction houses and whatnot this evening.
