Eggs for post-workout?

I'm on a paleo diet and whey gives me headaches anyway so I'm thinking of mixing 1 whole egg and 5 egg whites into a post workout shake with some fruits which would equal ~20 g of protein? and using this as a post workout drink.

Is this quick enough digesting? Opinions?

P.S. any suggestions on how to make this palatable? The thought of drinking raw eggs churns my stomach lol

I can't help with the digestion bit, but coincidentally I just drank my first protein shake with an egg white. It was half a carton of egg whites + 8oz of soy milk + one scoop cakebatter NutraPro + ~1/3 scoop vanilla Elite casein. Mixed well; very little "cake" stuck on the shaker, but I'm pretty sure that's because of the casein. Couldn't taste the egg whites at all.

Hope this helps!

Just switch from whey to a pro peptide like MAP. You are looking for quick absorption which is what whey and something like MAP offer. The eggs would be great 45 minutes later in a whole food meal.

So long as you had something reasonable as a preworkout meal, a post workout shake doesn't have to be fast. Get the cartons of pasteurized egg whites, don't use raw regular eggs. If you want to add more protein, a lot of companies sell egg based powder, and a few do beef isolate. When I do use a shake its usually around 20g protein from eggs, 20 from beef isolate, a banana, some other berry or fruit, plus some honey.

The pasteurized whites are tasteless.

I have 50lbs of unflavored powdered egg whites, I use them post workout time to time. I got some TrueProtein flavoring, but you can use cocoa powder or vanilla extract to flavor.

Why not just go with some BCAAs after your workout and then eat a regualr meal some time afterwards. I am somewhat paleo not 100% though. There are a couple paleo guys on here. Good luck on your ventures

When I drink eggs, I mix a dozen of them with about a quarter gallon of milk and a scoop of chocolate protein powder. It tastes a bit like chocolate eggnog :)

I do 12 raw egg whites, 1/2 cup cottage cheese, 1 scoop chocolate protein. Yummmm

Doesn't taste bad at all, but it just seems gross every time.. i have to question myself about wtf im doin.
