I've had asthma all my life and I'm a college sprinter in pretty good shape and alway Been able to keep it under control. But recently I've decided I want off my albuteral and advare. I'm tired of taking all these drugs and still only controlling it. I've decided I want to completely rid myself of it through diet and natural supplements.
So I'm weening off the drugs and taking some herbs my mom used to give me as a kid that helped me. They are Ginger and aloe vera juice. I was hoping I could get some more ideas from my friends at AM on other things that could help me on my path of curing my asthma. Thank you brothers.
The chiropractor will help as well- a lot of times asthma can have something to do with the curvature of your spine or your neck. I have a pretty similar background- I was a competitive sprinter in track (ran in open meets vs. a lot of different schools), plus I played football for a number of years as well. About 5 years ago, I was going up for a pass in the back of the end zone, and the DB undercut me instead of going for the ball (got there late). He spun me in the air, and I ended up coming down on the back of my neck, with all of my weight on top of me. I got right back up, and it was sore for a few days after, and then the very next week, I got hit really hard catching a pass across the middle, and it ended up being really sore in the same area. The soreness went away, but I began to encounter a lot of alignment issues (sore feet and hips), and my head seemed to want to hand slightly to the left side, but not enough to really notice. My CV endurance from that point went down steadily, and I couldn't figure out why, and I have had asthmatic issues ever since. I just figured it was lung function, so I had that tested, and nothing was wrong. They ran some other tests, and prescribed me albuterol and Advair, and that was it. They helped, but I still had the underlying issue.
Fast forward 5 years- I no longer run competitive track or play football, but I do play basketball 5 times a week. I should have no issues with wind, yet I still run out of gas pretty quickly- I usually run circles around everybody for the first couple games, and then have a lot of issues after that. My wife and I have some friends that are both chiropractors, so we went in and got x-rays. Turned out that I had a torn ligament in my neck that had never healed, and I didn't even know it

The way my spine was aligned due to the tear shifted my airway and impinged on an area of nerves that controls respiration. After three weeks of treatments, I feel 100% better. My wife runs marathons, and has a lot of asthmatic symptoms as well, and since she started getting adjusted, they have pretty much gone away as well.
There are some exercises you can do as well that will open up your airway more- pm me and I can elaborate.....
