Breakfast alternative?

FL3X MAGNUM

Legend
For as long as I can remember, I start my morning with a big protein shake and toast with jelly. My second meal of the day has always been eggs. Scrambled, fried, omelette, anything you can imagine. I HATE eggs and am at the point where I'm reheating pizza for breakfast because I just don't have the ambition to choke down another egg for breakfast. They hurt my stomach and taste like balls in my opinion.

Anyone have any ideas for something to switch it up a little bit?

Start with a cup of oats. Add in fresh or frozen fruit (i.e. bananas, frozen berries - especially blueberries and raspberries, etc.). You can also add dried fruit (i.e. banana chips, apricots, raisins, etc.). On top of that, pour a cup or of yoghurt (flavoured or not doesn't matter) - you can use milk as well if you really want to. Cast in about half a cup of nuts (i.e. almonds, walnuts, etc.). Finally, sprinkle cinnamon over the top of everything.

Tastes great AND you can get in a whole lot of calories - depending on what you add and quantities :)

I'll have to give that a try, thanks for the input :)
I'm trying to only rely on my whey protein powder first thing in the AM and pre/post workout, but maybe I should add a scoop to the mix to get in some extra protein?

No worries :)

You can definitely add a scoop of protein powder into that - I used to mix mine in with my oats with a little water and flaxseed oil before adding everything else (except milk) on top.

Pan sear some chicken tenderlions. It's great for breakfast.

You might be overcooking your eggs. That's usually when the smell comes. Burnt protein.

greek yogurt is pretty high in protein and tastes pretty good, might be something to consider although they are pricier than eggs and dont have as much protein

i cook my oats in milk instead of water....makes them creamier, then add in protein, its delish!

I switch up what I eat for breakfast all the time. Some times its eggs, sometimes its spaghetti, sometimes bunch of fruit with yogurt, sometimes steak and eggs, sometimes omelette. I dont think it really matters unless your on a strict diet. Just eat something imo.

i do something like this, replacing nuts with coconut oil and adding 2 scoops of protein powder and blend it all. good for breakfast on the go.

I've been eating eggs, ground beef, Basmati rice, and fruit for breakfast for years. I can't imagine kicking off the day any other way.

Dude put raw eggs into a shake. The only way you notice the eggs is by the foam the whites make when you blend them. I can put like 6 eggs and a scoop of protein and some milk in a blender and only taste the protein. Just get some off the wall flavor like cinnamon bun or something.

Raw eggs will net you a small nit more nutrients also because you lose a little bit by cooking anything.

I can believe someone eats raw eggs! Thats pretty 80's imo. I guess you could try it but just pray you dont get sick! Best of luck!

Dont feel forced to eat anything that doesn't agree with you. I have started not eating breakfast at all with great results-- check out intermittent fasting.

Oatmeal screws with my blood sugar/insulin levels. How about a protein shake, apple, and nuts?

Aren't raw eggs less bio-available than when cooked?

I like the Rosie's idea. Normally when I wake up I slam a protein shake asap, and then 1-2 hours later I choke down my eggs. Maybe I can take a little extra time and make a real breakfast first thing AM instead and then go with some red meat for meal 2.

Yeah but they take longer to eat, tben i have to clean more dishes, and eggs dont go well solo so i also uave to make bacon and toast at a minimum. However i mihgt start doing fried egg and cheese sandwiches for extra calories here soon....those are amazing...

I love this response so much.

As for my input. I usually throw down some yougurt and protien enriched cereal (found at target 15grm / serving + milk added to cereal) This is just another option not quite as serious as raw eggs and stuff

How's the cerial taste?

Do you mix the eggs, beef, and rice together? Kinda like a dirty rice?? Got a recipe??? lol

I love these... As in, everyday haha

1/2 cups of oats into a blender
* Chop the oats up first until they're powder. An electronic coffee grinder is the best.
2 cups milk
1 scoop protein powder (a blend would be great, or just whey)
1 ripe banana (the riper the banana, the better the shake. Banana = everything!)

You can also add something like peanut butter for more calories. If you want more protein, add more powder. That recipe though is about where I like my calories and it taste amazing. You can add whatever to it. As far as protein goes, if you're getting protein from the milk as well as the powder. A blend of whey/casien would be best just because you'd get the widest availability.

I usually drink two of these a day. Then eat solid food in between and I'm good to go. Right now I'm just eating enough to not loose mass and not get any fatter. If I want to bulk, I just eat more at each serving, shakes included.

I love shakes ;)

no offense but that cereal is kind of beat. 14 grams of sugar per 3/4 cup. probably loaded with gluten. gotta see the ingredients to able to say for sure. check your glucose after eating something like that.

There is in fact gluten in there. I didn't say this was a fantastically healthy alternative to some of the other things written here. Just an option if you don't want to eat anymore damn eggs or whatever
