2010 College Football Season

and score updates after 1 -- Missou 0 Nebraska 24 <-- LOL
-- MSU 0 Iowa 17 <-- LOL

Looks like a 1 loss SEC team might end up with a shot.

Btw, here's my feelings on the whole "transitive property" philosophy with college football. I think it's good to compare how teams perform against the same competition. However, one has to take into consideration other variables... such as bye weeks and whether the teams both played the opponent at home/away, etc.

The comparison of Oklahoma State and Kansas State versus Nebraska was legitimate. They both played Nebraska at home, and bye weeks/injuries/etc. didn't play into this match-up.

On the other hand, comparing AU's win over S. Carolina at home against Alabama's loss on the road, with the 'Cocks coming off both a crushing loss and a bye week, is not a legitimate comparison. Just like if Auburn chokes up against Ole Miss (not likely), I wouldn't compare it to a Bama win at home.

What about Aub/Ark comparision? It's not like SC is the only team that both teams have played. It's hard to use any type of transitive property when Auburn has basically only shown that they just do what they have to do to get a W.

I'm not saying Kansas State was a smart choice either.. I was just looking for something lucky to hit to move me up in the standings. You don't get that from picking favorites every time. ( OH WAIT, that's what you're doing! )

You're making my point for me. Again, Alabama played Arky in Fayetteville. Auburn had them at home. Not much of a comparison.

I didn't say it was a bad choice. I just look for criteria that makes sense to me. I don't concern myself with who everyone is likely to pick. As for picking favorites... for picks 4-10 (usually), I pick the team I think is going to win. Favorite or not. Period. I throw in a couple of upsets (Florida, USC, Ole Miss) in the hopes others will pick with their hearts (cough, cough), trip up occasionally, and eventually lose over the long haul.

In 2009 and again this year... my philosophy has worked out pretty well. ;)

Not that I'm a fan of either... but Florida's '10 Nike Pro Combat uni looks a lot better than last year's edition. Pretty subtle.

You're right though h0other, the SEC East is pretty inconsistent this year. S. Carolina looks awesome one game, then mediocre the next. Florida, and Georgia are struggling. (This game is hard to watch.) Kentucky's having a great year... for them, anyway.

Nebraska's RB, Helu... 10 carries for 228 yards... TD runs of 66, 73, and 54 yards... with 5 minutes left in the 3rd quarter.

 at those ESPN talking heads yapping all week about Missouri's vaunted defense. Good grief.

What the hell is with play-calling/clock management this year??? Notre Dame... against Tulsa... has the ball on the 20 yard-line with 40 seconds left... down by 1... field goal wins it... freshman QB in... and Kelly calls...

a shot to the endzone??? The same play Spurrier called against Kentucky.

Interception. Game over.

Wut?

Anytime a c0ck goes into a crimson tide it's gonna get messy hahahahahaha!

I'm still mad that nobody repped me for this one weeks ago. I thought it was funny in a vulgar, disgusting kind of way. :icon_lol:

I had Clemson 2nd in my confidence picks so nine points lost I suck at picking games. I did pick Iowa and Nebraska but had them last in confidence points.
Just finished watching Florida win in OT and the Auburn game is all but over, just waiting on my Buckeyes game to start. Rubbering things are clearing up for your Tide to get back into the NC game race.

I see we are all "wrapped-up" in this SEC...this team plays that team and auburn and Florida and georgia..blah...blah...blah!!!!

Michigan at Penn St..8pm. its very very chilly and damp here in central pa. just watch all the condensation spewing from the breath of all the fans.

michigan 23...penn st 24 (my prediction)

Our season is DONE. read it. DONE. Roughly 7 good players were already hurt/missing playing time, now Crist too. All I can do is just look forward to basketball season. And I don't give a d*mn about basketball. Guess It's gonna be a long 12 months until next season. Good luck to all teams that can still salvage a good season, even if they haven't yet. Peace.

i must spread reps around before giving it to bucknuts again...i LOL'd though

Not only have injuries plagued us, obviously Kelly's brain was plagued as well with a dumb*ss Les Miles call. Except it didn't pay off. Idiot. Our kicker is @99% made kicks and he pushes the envelope. Idiot. Idiot. Idiot.:cussing:

If USC (gag) and Air Force can pull the upsets, things will look even better. If Bama is going to lose just one game this year (I have my doubts), they did it at the right time against the right team.

Cameron Newton is an awesome athlete, and I'm completely sold on him... but the guy has absolutely no sense of sportsmanship whatsoever. I know he thinks it's really cool to prance and skip (literally) into the tunnel at halftime, while giving exaggerated head shakes to the Ole Miss crowd, but it's just... not. Seriously, is the guy acting like an egomaniac on purpose... or is he just extremely immature? His behavior off the field is juvenile.

And before you jump to conclusions, I can say with complete sincerity that I'd have the same criticism if he wore crimson and white.

Oh, well... all is forgiven in the media when you can play good football.

Sorry, I fell asleep halfway through your post.

Terrible call, dude. It would've been bad enough if he were the first coach to pull that crap... but Spurrier caught hell for the same exact call two weeks ago.

Clutching defeat from the hands of victory ------ the Mike Shula protocol.

I'm going to say all of the above with Newton, he's a juvenile, immature egomaniac. He is very very good but what a douche.
Utah loses next week to TCU so I think you're hopes rest with USC beating Oregon tonight because after that they have Washington, Cal, Arizona and Oregon St. Maybe Arizona has an outside shot against the Ducks but I wouldn't take that bet. Would Alabama jump TCU and Boise if both go unbeaten?

I'm hoping against hope Air Force can pull the upset, and then a pissed-off Utah beats TCU next week. Bama would stand a better chance at jumping Boise than TCU, especially if TCU beats a top 10 Utah. If Bama wins out, and beats a top 15 LSU, a top 20 Miss. St., the #1-ranked team, and the SEC East champion in the process... the Tide will play in Glendale.

That being said... I don't really see it happening. Not this year.

And yeah, Arizona would have a much better shot against Oregon if the game were in Tucson. Can't see the Ducks losing at home this season.

How would that transitive property work in the upcoming Alabama/Auburn matchup based on Ole Miss, rub?

Let it be known we are throwing backups in at 3:00 left in the 3rd quarter on the road.

They are the best offense the SEC has seen in a LONG time, maybe ever.

Easy. Auburn is exciting but certainly not the "best ever in the SEC".

For example, the '08 Gator national champion offense was from a different universe with playmakers Tim Tebow, Percy Harvin, Aaron Gonzales, Riley Cooper, Loius Murphy, and Cornelius Ingram ALL playing in the NFL today. It would be ridiculous to even mention today's Auburn offense in the same breath.

Of course that is a totally unbiased POV.

Cam Newton >>>>>> Tebow
Mike Dyer/McCalebb will be > Harvin
T.Zach/Darvin Adams/Emory Blake will be on par with receivers
Auburn OL Line >>>> Florida
Auburn Offensive Coordinator > Florida

Maybe I am biased but this team is very impressive on offense.

I'd be willing to bet Auburn has more NFL talent from this team 5 years down the road than Florida will from that team.

I don't think you're getting it, dude. I am firmly against the use of the transitive property when it comes to college football. I was being sarcastic about using it with OSU - K-State. I do think, if all tie-breakers are exhausted and you just don't have enough knowledge to make a pick, that it can then be utilized.

Bottom line: There are far too many variables involved to do the "A > B, and B > C, therefore A > C" rubbish.

I am impressed with AU's offense. Who wouldn't be? I still firmly believe they will have a "down" game... and their defense won't be able to carry them. Ole Miss had the yardage in the 1st half, but they imploded in the red zone twice. Not that it would've made much of a difference when they allow Auburn to run all over them.

You may not want to admit it, but Alabama's gonna be ready for them. Will Bama have enough to stop them? We'll see.

Settle down. Championships trump stats. When "Cayum" has two BCS titles, then we'll talk. He's played 9 games.

Maybe I am biased...

Yeah... maybe.

Dude, it's gonna be a bit embarrassing for you if they don't win the next 5 games. You might consider putting your enthusiasm in check... just a tad.

Will my winnings also accrue 5 years of interest? :eek13:

Relax my SEC friend. Excitement is good but best not get carried away.

Just because I say this is the best offense I've ever seen in the SEC doesn't mean I still think we are going to be NC's. If I recall this same thing happened w/ Alabama the weak before South Carolina. Luckily we have Terrell Owens old college next week before we play another somewhat-real team. Georgia will be a tough one.

Personally I feel cam Newton IS auburn's offense! Without the defense worrying about him, the rest of the team would do next to nothing on offense.

Settle down chief, jesus....

Let's see what unfolds in the coming weeks. I'd pick Oregon over Auburn anyday right now.

Did you not watch the game? Newton didn't even run today and we still put up almost 600 yards.. You must not have cable.

Rub&everyone else -- My little opinion about Auburn not having Cam run the ball every down to protect him at the end of the year doesn't look as stupid after the Ole Miss game now does it?

I did watch him pass for all those yards....against the worst passing defense in the sec. Chill out bro, if anything that says exactly how good he is. He's got the Heisman by a landslide...he's still a classless douche

He plays in an SEC that's a fukcing joke this year. Put him against the class of the SEC over the last 10 years and he's a nobody. I look forward to when Auburn loses and we can stop hearing this Cam Newton bullsh*t.

This.

This.

If you honestly believe that I feel sorry for you.....because you're the only one that does.

This.

When he wins 2 National Championships and a Heisman we'll talk. Don't you know Tebow's are legendary?

Dude, you're acting as juvenile as your hero. If you want to revel in playing the classless douche bag, then... good job, I guess.

Then again, you could always opt for humility, seeing as Auburn's only played either 64% or 69% of their season. You always bitch and moan about players/teams showing class. Dude, act like you've been here before.

Oh, wait... you haven't.

Tebow went down as the greatest college football player ever, cam hasn't won ANYTHING yet

Amen. Newton is a classless douche bag all the way. He doesn't have half the talent that Tebow left in the SEC....

As you said, their savior hasn't won a fukcing thing.....
