Everything Fishing - Come On In!!!

Too bad.. Sounds like a great time for a fishing trip with friends! :)

Hahaha nice large mouth:smirk:

I hate fishing in the afternoons. Morning and evening are best, just like spring and fall are best.

Now I love me some large mouth bass fishing!!!!

Small mouth bass are a great catch too. I've probably caught more of them than I have large mouth.

I found out that there's a chain of lakes connected by canals almost within walking distance of my house. The water must be pretty low b/c there was a lot of vegetation on the bottom. I went back by today and talked to some of the regulars. They confirmed that the water is low and the weeds are ruining what is usually pretty good fishing. I'll have to check back every now and then though since it's so close to home.

Keep checkin on it. It would be a waste to let it go..

Especially considering that I drive about thirty minutes or so to get to most of my fishing holes. I really could walk to this one.

I go fishing during the summer for rainbow trout because I live close to the mountains. A lot of them are not very big though!

Trout taste great though. Do you fly fish? I've never tried that, but have heard that it takes a lot of practice.

What kind of trout do you have in your area? I grew up eating Rainbow Trout. I remember seeing Brown Trout, but it seemed like you could only catch them fly fishing.

I went out to a private lake this morning and had to trek through 8' tall weeds and orange groves to get there. There were some monstrous bass out there. It was odd though. They would take the "shiners", but would throw them once I tried to set the hook or put any tension on the line. I'm not kidding, some of these bass were 10+ lbs

The weather is cooling down and it's possible that's why they weren't striking aggressively. My buddy overslept. Hopefully we were just too late in the morning because I want to hit that spot up again!

I'm in a slump, but hopefully I'll have some cool pix to post up soon...

I couldn't believe the size of the shiners we were using. Some were the size of small panfish...about the size of white perch, lol.

I've never caught anything over 8lbs+/-, but that was in Maryland. Striped Bass/Rockfish season was a really big deal for me growing up. We usually used eels for bait though.

I was really hoping that others would have fish pictures to post up too...looks like I'll have to pick up the pace :D

I have been way too busy to go fishing at all lately, but that will change in about a month. :) hopefully I'll catch something worth showing.

I mostly grew up fishing ponds for bass and catfish :) 4lbs large mouth bass and 14.5 Catfish are my best, respectively.

That's a pretty sweet catfish! I honestly think that the biggest Large Mouth I ever caught was before I even hit double digits in age. I have a picture of me lipping it and I'm wearing an ET shirt, lol!

I've been pretty fortunate to have been able to try some of the things that I have. I've been on a charter boat and caught large Stripers, Sea Trout, and Spanish Mackerel (this one was DELICIOUS). I've fished rivers and streams and caught anything from Rainbow Trout, White and Yellow Perch, Small Mouth Bass, and all kinds of Catfish (Channel, Bullhead, Yellow, White, etc). I even went to Canada once and caught what was supposedly a Strawberry Bass. I think it was something else though, b/c I think it was too big to have been that.

Wow, you sir are much more well versed in fishing than I. I'm quite jealous of all your experiences with fishing. I MUST go fishing on my off weeks coming up in November!

Yeah, I've definitely been pretty fortunate in those regards.

I go back to the first shift in about two weeks, so I'm not sure how much fishing I'll be doing then. I'll be able to spend more time in the gym though :D

I couldn't see the picture when I took it out on the lake this morning. It didn't turn out as well I thought it did or I would have taken another. This bass was a little bigger than it looks in this picture :(

Very nice. Large mouth bass now we are talking. Although I was impressed with the Superdrol catfish.

I will admit that the catfish was a little bigger :D. This was just as fun to bring in though. It was the only hit all day too.

Just about.
He was a young one though, so he didn't have that signature fat belly on him. Probably not quite two lbs...yet...I threw him back for next year :D

I learned the hard way to know what pond you're fishing in before casting out that line. There are some really strange fish in this one.

I catch something weird every now and then too. It seems like just about anything goes in Florida.

Nice one bro! Making me jealous, I need a REAL day off so I can go to the ponds!

I'm paying for it tonight. I caught that bass after getting off of work at 07:00. I'm dragging tonight.

I have a funny picture to post once I get home tomorrow (it's funny to me). I still have shiners and minnows from Tuesday AM and I figured out a way to keep them aerated at work :D

Bait shop or Laboratory? :D

I used to fish for pickerel up in upstate NY and pennsylvania. Got some serious damn big ones. I think the biggest was close to 3 feet. What a pain that was to bring in. In the lakes where they were common, had to go with as much as a 1 foot steel leader just so the bastards wouldn't bite thru the line

We have alot of pickerel here in MA also I knew Pike got that big but not pickerel. If I was reeling in a 3 foot pickerel I better have one of those metal hook removers or I am cutting the damn line.:)

Bait shop & laboratory! :)

Man I have never caught anything like that. I would be freaked out if that thing ended up in my boat!

That's a Gar my friends! I believe it's a Florida Spotted Gar.

They'll completely take over in smaller lakes and ponds because they're so aggressive. Most people down here kill them when they catch one. You can't even eat them. The meat is kind of leathery and they are just full of bones.

Ahhhhhhh nice pics except the 5th from the bottom WTF is that.:boggled:

Cool pix Pilip99! Spec season is starting up here in Central Florida (aka crappie/croppie/speckled perch/papermouth, etc). I've never been out for them, but I've heard it's a lot of fun.

Hopefully I'll make it out a few times in the next month. They're supposedly the kings of panfish.

man, i would love to take a trip down there to florida and tear it up!! if you do head out make sure to take those pics and put em up!!! reps!

I caught an albino catfish over the summer in Mississippi. Even had the pink eyes.

Is this common or is it an anomaly?

I'm back on a regular shift now and the guy I always go fishing with has a different schedule. It's going to be tough to get out a lot now, but I'm going to try!

That's the first one I've ever come across. My mother-in-law took a picture, next time I go to MS. I'll get it and post it. I didn't think it was right to eat it so I let it go. I'm sure it's pretty easy to spot from the air, good meal for a hawk, lol.

I think the water is still too warm for Speck. We had an alright night with the cats though. The pix are kind of hard to see.

I believe this one was a Flathead Cat. It had a mouth on it as big or bigger than a Large Mouth Bass of the same size. It fought like crazy too!

My buddy caught a smaller Channel Cat but it had a nice little belly on it. It wouldn't hold still for a pic though :D
