Just realized that I can now watch pron on my droid.
I win. Case closed.

I just sold a Coleco Vision on ebay.I am in the same boat as OP is.
I need a new phone but don't text and don't want a full keyboard or a touch screen, but don't want a phone with zero features.
I guess all this gadgety "I do everything on my phone" stuff is here to stay.
what happened to the simpler times!

The iPhone interface is much better than the blackberry. Haven't tried the Torch, it doesn't get released in Canada for another 2 weeks.
I noticed not many bb fans here. I basically need my phone for emails/txts/calls and that's it. I also sync it to my Outlook Calendars which is a lifesaver for knowing your schedule. I'm not looking to be able to play games or swing lightsabers. It has the same google maps app now, and most of the medical apps. I'm happy.
Ditto, mostly, except it's Droid, and it's not so much workout trackers as it is everything else.I use my iphone for the Apps, I have workout trackers and calorie logs, gym playlists, plus I have my class and homework schedule with alerts, my alarm clock and I sync with Google Exchange.... it's a life saver....
Although I am thwarted by the lack of pron...
i will put this out there this EVO's screen is just recawkulously huge, its crazy to look at other phones after owning this one.
But what if you have a go cart that IS a Ferrari? Eh? Now what?Yeah, I have used the EVO, and the 4g is freaking blazing. Not only can you get pron... but you don't even have to wait for it to buffer.
When going from 3g to 4g... its like upgrading from a go cart to a Ferrari.

also loving the fact that you can use the wireless network for phone calls too since i get crappy service at my pad, turn on wireless and viola, clear as dayYeah, I have used the EVO, and the 4g is freaking blazing. Not only can you get pron... but you don't even have to wait for it to buffer.

I was doing that on my old Treo 700P. Any phone with a web browser can do it, you just have to find the right sites.
No need with open source type phones... you will always have codecs to run any type of media. Closed systems are just that... very closed.
I seems nowadays there is almost no way around this. I have been using the same POS Nokia for god knows how long. I have been looking around and no one is really selling a "middle of the road" phone anymore..it's either smartphone or POS phone with no features.
Someone point me in the right direction.
I got the Droid2 on release day, August 12th... not really impressed with the Froyo 2.2 OS, but it just got rooted last week which unlocks some features. We'll see how everything goes moving along into the future, but the camera is horrible.
The camera isn't very good. I noticed that it does work a lot better when the lighting is really good.
Download vignette from the market, it enhances the colors and makes the camera take better pics.
I like the D2 as is with the exception of not being able to sync with outlook notes and tasks, and the email apps suck.
I wish they would make chattermail for Android.
Even with android there are certain websites that have flash content that can't be played with the default browsers.
For instance, go to southparkstudios, neither the stock android browser nor dolphin can play the episodes, but skyfire can.
A lot of websites are now using html 5 content, that wasn't out when I had the Treo 700P, html 5 makes it easier for mobile devices to play the content.
Repped!
You're right... outdoors that 5mp camera does amazing. I'm going to download it now before I forget![]()
Just pulled that site and shows up on the droid incredible.
Who uses HTML 5? Many browsers still do not have the code supported, so developing a HTML 5 site is a bit premature... though not unheard of. HTML 5 will make flash and the like completely obsolete.
There is a free trial version, the pay version is $3, it has frequent updates. I downloaded a week after I got the phone and they have had 4 updates already.
Oh, alright so the trial version is just as good at enhancing photos as I take them, or do I have to go back to the photo afterward and self edit using this app? Thanks!
I was using skyfire on winmo 6.5, is it available for android ?

Youtube has been using html 5 for over a year.
The site shows up yes, but can you watch the videos?
Yes, I can watch the videos.
Youtube is not HTML 5... it has an opt in to try it in the 5 format though.
Invalid Link Removed
The reason being is that current browsers do not support the real HTML 5 functionality... you can read it on that page.
I tried over the weekend to watch the videos and it didn't work using Dolphin, that's why I installed skyfire. Now it is working, maybe over the weekend I just didn't wait long enough for it to work. It sat at loading and initializing forever.
I read last year that youtube was using html 5 along with flash, a co-worker and I were debating it and there was nothing you had to do to use it, it was just there. That apparently has changed.
