Brown rice is best done in the oven DW. I use a glass baking dish that is either round or square and if I remember right it is 1.5 cups rice, 2.5 cups water and cook at 375F for 1 hour. You boil the water and pour it into the hard rice in the dish (spray it with pam or something non-stick) and then bake it for the hour. You can make more of course if you have a larger dish to cook it, make a nice light brown rice. If that does not work, I do a 1:3 ratio of rice:water and cook on the stove very slow at a simmer than let sit 15 minutes once the water is gone with the lid on and no heat (just left on the burner for the residual).
