Xtend really necessary?

I was wondering if Xtend was really necessary for calorie restricted diets as long as you're getting enough protein? I do six scoops per workout of Xtend and this gets freakin expensive.

They're definitely important, and why so many scoops ??

Well amino acids are obviously necessary, I do feel the dosing on Xtend is a little much though. If you're keeping your protein intake high through the day (including pre/post workout) I feel you dont need to take 8 scoops inside of and hour to two hour span. Im almost 220 and I take 2 mixed with jack3d pre and 3-4 during (making it last until the end) I might take the recommended dose if they sponsor me lol

Watched a video series by Kris Gethin on another site. He suggested mixing this stuff and drinking it all day long. Tried it and like it enough I have not stopped. I use 6 scoops per gallon, so 90 servings lasts a month. I find it easier to drink alot more water, and keeps me away from sugery drinks like powerade. As far as benefits go, the most noticable when it first kicks in is the reduced or nearly no lactic burn when exercising.
The trickle of BCAA's and L-glutamine have got to be helping too, just hard to judge how much.

Thats what I do when I'm at work

I'd just cut back on the scoops if cost is a prohibiting factor. Personally, I'd drop anything else before my bcaa's and protein.

BCAA's are a staple for me when Im dieting, and yes, using 6 scoops of xtend per w/o gets pricey quickly. I like to use bulk IBCAA's or NP's BCAA's and sweeten it with either Xtend or crystal light. 3 scoops of blue raz xtend is enough to sweeten 5-10g of bulk bcaa's in 12-14oz of water.

BCAAs are clutch. Better investment than even protein powder (assuming you have enough meat) IMO.

Drop the Xtend and pick up either Diabolic Labs BCAAs or LG's BC+EAA. Both cheaper than Xtend. The DL will need flavoring, but at $20/kg, who cares? And the BC+EAA has hydrolysates and 4:1:1 BCAAs, and I find it to be more effective than Xtend.

I agree with you, I used to swear by Xtend but it got too damn expensive for me.

With enough protein, I wouldn't say its absolutely necessary, but bcaa's do help.
I agree with this

Good choices alongisde Controlled labs PW. All are superior formulas

Just buy some bulk BCAAs, which you can get totally cheap. And mix it in with some sugar free drink powder like Crystal Lite or whatever, and you pretty much have made your own work out drink. If cost is a concern, just make it yourself. It's totally easy.

I really wish they would change the name. A girl comes over to my place and sees a jar in my kitchen labeled Xtend and she suddenly thinks I'm taking pills to grow my cawk.

Haha! Yeah, I've thought that too. It sounds like some cheesey late night informercial pecker pills.

I stockpiled Xtend a while back when Nutra had the BOGO sale. It's a must for me, especially during my depletion days. Primordial Performances’ IBCAA is great to throw in to my protein drinks for an added punch. Controlled Labs/LG Science is utilized as well. I have a load of BCAAs that will last until this time next year.

Its one of those products that you dont know how much you love it until you go without it during a couple hardcore workouts. It is a little pricy though

I can't tell you how many buds have been over and saw this large shimmering tube of "Xtend" and assumed of was having "problems"

Since I carry around a half gallon jug of this stuff everywhere I go, I get asked a lot what is that? As soon as you say Xtend, people look at you funny. HAHA

Nutra has some on sale:
