Prayer Request Thread

In my experience, the answer to this is fairly simple. Go DO something nice for someone else and expect nothing in return. Although you and I know you will get something in return as sort of a trickle down effect. Call someone important to you that you haven't spoken with in some time, check in w/ Grandma or Grandpa, ask how they're doing, and WANT to know the answer. I was dragged to the mall once by my wife, I was just having an 'off' day, grouchy, etc. So after I bitched I had to be at the mall rather than doing nothing at home, I held the door open for this older lady coming in behind us. Her smile and thanks were genuine and infectious. So, I said to my wife, "I'll be here for awhile." I stood there and held the door open for people for an hour. I got several smiles and thank you's, yada yada. I felt great afterwards. But I had to GO & GET that spiritual spark, it rarely falls in my lap. Take spiritual action.

this is cool.

This isnt a prayer request, but a praise God. There are a select few who know about my situation with my ex and my child, but through the grace of God, people at his school are starting to see what I've been telling them so long. My ex's acting has finally caught up with her lies. I continue to pray that the momentum keeps going in my child's favor for when I take her back to court for full custody of my son, but this was a nice glimmer of hope in the darkness I've been in for some time. God is good, and he will do right by HIS time.

I am so happy for you and your glimmer of hope. Keep fighting the good fight. Although the one (of three) child I don't see is older (17), it still hurts - so I can truly appreciate your dilemma.

Please pray for me and my wife we need it right now.

Jon

Jon I will pray for you and your wife, and that God lead you both.

I have provided 2 links to a sermon in which by the title alone we can all relate to.
Not sure what kind of preaching style you are all use to but this is not a quiet type of sermon, and I listen to it everyday among several others by this pastor.
Listen to it if you choose to, but I wanted to share this.

Malachi 4:2
But for you who revere my name, the sun of righteousness will rise with healing in its wings. And you will go out and leap like calves released from the stall.

Isaiah 58:8
Then your light will break forth like the dawn, and your healing will quickly appear; then your righteousness will go before you, and the glory of the LORD will be your rear guard.

Hello, please pray that I will meet a decent Christian man. While my faith in God is strong, my faith in men is not!

The problem with finding people for a long term relationship is not falling for a less fullfilling one while searching for one that meets your criteria.

the ones I have met are worse than the non-Christian men - at least they dont hide behind their faith!

I'm sorry to sound so bitter, it's just been such a harrowing experience for me.

Its all good, just realize more than half the people do not show their true stripes till they are involved in an interpsersonal relationship. This is why I tell people to ask God for the right partner, faith is key.

Just prayed for you, your girlfriend and your families. So many things I can say as my mom went through chemo & radiation treatment. The irony here is to make an effort to laugh :)

Sister, God knows what you need. I made a HUGE mistake in joining with a woman that is not Christian, and actually quite pagan and I was thinking how great she was.. Turned out, not so great.
I am waiting\looking\sifting the wheat from the tares when it comes to women, but I'm in no rush... I will let God lead on this one.
Something to remember is, when Adam was in the garden of Eden alone, God knew he was alone and said "It is not good for man to be alone" so He made Eve out of his rib.
The principle here is that God provided for Adam a companion :-) He will provide for us as well.

Please pray for my cousin.

We just found out that he started using again in December after being clean for quite a while. He is now talking about suicide.

Lord have mercy Chops! I will pray for your cousin. Is his suicidal talk a result of guilt after being clean and relapsing? That can cause a huge amount of guilt, and is he going to a support group?? He needs to go to one ASAP, and if he has been clean for a good while, he may also have a sponsor who can work with him.
Keep us posted.

Addictions are real hard to combat, the only that can help in these sorts of manners is God, but God does expect us to put our part. Advice your cousin to stand strong, firm and righteous unto God. Support him as much as possible, let him know that you are there for him.

The power of God and prayers are indisputable, proof is in the pudding :)

Thanks everyone.

I think you hit the nail on the head, MK9. He went to rehab before and came out clean, but there was no real follow up with a support group/sponsor to keep it that way. He got involved with the wrong people again and relapsed. He basically told my aunt that he can't take any of this anymore and wants to end it. He's living with a friend now that will keep an eye on him and we're getting him help ASAP.

Was the rehab a treatment program i.e. 30-90 days? Or was it a 1 week detox plan?
My sons mother went to one and came out worse than when she went in, and she "Isn't there yet" to go into treatment even though she talked a good game about how she wants to do that..
Chops, I can empathize with you on this, and I am wondering if his friend is clean and sober, or is not an addict.
Unfortunately when your cousin is ready, he will go, and depending on the substance you have 2 options 1. Get clean and live, or 2. Stay addicted and die.
I will keep him in my prayers, those are some heavy chains that are on him, and I always keep thinking about what Jesus did, and that is set us free from sin. He will do the same for your cousin, keep talking with him, and keep his mind active on things he use to like doing, productive, and\or creative things.
Share the Good News of Jesus Christ with Him, and that He can and does heal us.
MK9

Yeah, it was a treatment program. It was quite a while ago, so I don't recall the exact length of it. The friend he is with was never an addict so I'm not worried about that. It's ironic that you mention he has the option to stay addicted and die. This has happened. Fortunately, EMT's brought him back. This is what triggered his treatment the first time.

Anyway, thanks for the prayers and advice. I'm hopeful things will start to get better shortly.

Very well said Andrew!!

Ok... The fire has turned up on my situation.

I am seeing my lawyer tomorrow to apply for Supervised access and care for my son and I was told by our equivalent of Child Protective Services that I must not leave my son in her care.
It sounds all nice and easy right, but its like facing a multiheaded dragon, and I feel crushed for doing this because of how I still feel for his mom i.e. I still love her, and care about her, but she is blinded by her addiction (alcohol).
I want to ask for so many things, and I know God knows what I need, and I myself need prayer and strength, and guidance, and just that this storm pass quickly and that my sons mother get the help she needs.
She is amazing when she is not drinking, but turns into someone else while under the influence. Ultimately I want my family back, but God knows the end from the beginning, and all I know is I need renewed strength and whatever else I am lacking in.
Thanks!

Be strong brother. "'If you can'?" said Jesus. "Everything is possible for him who believes." Mark 9:23. I love that verse. Jesus being sarcastic. My prayers are with you.

MK...just remember...God don't like ugly and right now your ex is ugly with the addition she has going. God will not allow his and your child to be in hands which will put him in a dangerous situation as with an alchololic...believe and have faith brotha, I will keep you and your son in my prayers!

just feel like bumpin this thread...God bless you all..!! :)

Good time to bump this my friend! I pray you're doing well.

Guys, pray for MK. He's in the final stages of his divorce and I think he's hurting pretty bad. If you've been there, you know what I'm talking about, the kids, the house, the lawyers, the emotions, the sense of loss... even if it's the best thing to do, it's still very tough and he could use your prayers right now.

God bless everybody here who needs it.

a little update from a post I put up a while back:

I've prayed for a few months about a relationship I was in, and Monday night I ended the relationship. it was tough, because it was pretty much a miracle story that we had, but we turned it into lust and Christ was not the center.

Since then I've really felt Him blessing me. I know for sure that I listened...even though it was hard to do.

Anyway, this thread is a solid place. Lets keep it rolling, and I'm sorry I have not been doing my part lately.
