And karma always catches the ones who violate His Law, correct?
Not always, but in general, yes. One trends to get back what they give in my experience and observation.
And karma always catches the ones who violate His Law, correct?
Allow me to use another example of 'enhancement'. Look at the symptoms of poor vision. If you operate a motor vehicle with bad eyes, you may run over somebody! So if you have poor eyesight, does God disapprove of you wearing glasses? Be practical and have some common sense about these issues. In other words, put your glasses on if you need them. But God cannot approve of illegal means if it does not glorify His purpose or priority system, that would violate His just character. You reap as you sow, and it's a violation of His universal harvest law (some call it karma) to reap an honest gain from dishonest means, so either use a noncontrolled legal OTC supplement, or get a doctor if you seek such goals. That way you stay blameless in the eyes of men, and in the eyes of God as well (if your motives are legit.) On a slightly related note, check out this example from the Bible...
Exodus 1:15-21 (New International Version)
The king of Egypt said to the Hebrew midwives, whose names were Shiphrah and Puah, "When you help the Hebrew women in childbirth and observe them on the delivery stool, if it is a boy, kill him; but if it is a girl, let her live." The midwives, however, feared God and did not do what the king of Egypt had told them to do; they let the boys live. Then the king of Egypt summoned the midwives and asked them, "Why have you done this? Why have you let the boys live?" The midwives answered Pharaoh, "Hebrew women are not like Egyptian women; they are vigorous and give birth before the midwives arrive." So God was kind to the midwives and the people increased and became even more numerous. And because the midwives feared God, he gave them families of their own.
The midwives clearly lied to the King in authority, yet God commended and rewarded them anyway. This is a very, very rare exception. Out of 99.999% of the Bible were lies and disobedience to worldly authority is rebuked, this is the only place in the Bible that I am aware of that shows otherwise. This is significant. I interpret this passage as saying that glorifying God is priority numero uno. This has little to do with this topic (unless God told you to glorify Him by taking HRT) but I do find it interesting. Use common sense guys!
Personally, I wish we wouldn't have this thread at all.. just too easy to get into a flame war
If there was nothing to tempt us, would we all be good?
It's difficult to have a open minded discussion about religion because we are all spiritual creatures and discussing spiritual issues is about a personal as it gets. However, some of the saunchest christians that I know started as atheist's and agnostic's and then one day God opened their eyes and their lives were forever changed.
Just dropping in to say hi to Dr. D. Havent seen you in a bit, how you been my friend?
That's me BBB, ex-agnostic big time. God's grace is profound to contemplate!
I'm good my friend! How about you? Just been busy. My wife recently had a son (5 months old now) so lots of work and planning, but still come around as much as possible.![]()
Congratulations that is excellent news. Nothing keeps you busy like having a child.
I don't understand the logic of the Great Flood. God cleansed the earth, demonstrated his right to rule and then allowed us to continue to turn corrupt. Why not end it then. His point was made already. Why continue testing generations if he already Knows the outcome. If God took the population of the earth and asked "who believes in me?" Then destroyed the unbelevers, i'm sure everyone left alive would want to serve God whole heartedly. No one at that point would want to disapoint God. So why not get rid of everything corrupt, remove our temtations or the one tempting us, and put an end to pain and suffering. He had his chance to end it in the beginning, and after the flood but didn't take it. Life changes people. I use to be a kind person but life experiences have made me change. I'm not nice anymore. I feel no remorse or regret for the things i've done. Without evil in the world i would've been a different person. If god is foregiving, then whats the point in trying if he's gonna forgive me or the next guy. I do believe in God, but i always question my faith. God exists, but maybe he's not as good as we think.
I beleive that the point of this passage is that you always follow the laws of the higher authority. There is no higher authority than GOD. Jesus was considered a rebel because when man's laws conflicted with GOD's laws he yielded to the higher authority, His Father. There are countless cases of this principle shown throughout the Bible. Daniel is an excellent example of this principle.
God apparently wants people to serve Him by choice, he therefore gave us free will. The angles serve Him because that's what they were created to do. We on the other hand have a choice. That choice makes us either part of His family or not. His family will live with Him forever in eternity, that is His promise to us. If you are not part of God's family you will have no part in Heaven the Bible makes this abundantly clear.
Would Eve had eaten the fruit of knowledge of good and evil if the devil didn't tempt her?
What if she had also eaten from the tree of life on the way out of the garden?
Why did God take Enoch and not test him until death? and Elijah?
If some of the demons were imprisoned after the flood, then why weren't all of them imprisoned?
If religions use the model prayer and say "let your name be santified" Why don't they use God's name? Why is he called the Lord instead?
Just more questions without answers. I have a million. Here's example of God realizing he was wrong about something. Can he be wrong about more?
1 Chronicles 21:14-16 (Amplified Bible)
14So the Lord sent a pestilence upon Israel, and there fell of Israel 70,000 men.
15God sent an angel to Jerusalem to destroy it, and as he was destroying, the Lord beheld, and He regretted and relented of the evil and said to the destroying angel, It is enough; now stay your hand. And the angel of the Lord stood by the threshing floor of Ornan the Jebusite.
16David lifted up his eyes and saw the angel of the Lord standing between earth and the heavens, having a drawn sword in his hand stretched out over Jerusalem. Then David and the elders, clothed in sackcloth, fell upon their faces.
Would Eve had eaten the fruit of knowledge of good and evil if the devil didn't tempt her? What if she had also eaten from the tree of life on the way out of the garden?
If religions use the model prayer and say "let your name be santified" Why don't they use God's name? Why is he called the Lord instead?

I think the book of Enoch was left out because it shows where the source of some of our knowledge came from-fallen angels.
The flood was to destroy the humans whose DNA had mingled with that of the "sons of God". The fallen angels who mated with human women and produced the Nephilim . Noah and his family were the only ones left with pure blood. "And it came to pass, when men began to multiply on the face of the earth, and daughters were born unto them, That the sons of God saw the daughters of men that they were fair; and they took them wives of all which they chose." Genesis 6:1-2, "There were Nephilim in the earth in those days; and also after that, when the sons of God came in unto the daughters of men, and they bare children to them, the same became mighty men which were of old, men of renown." Genesis 6:4. The book of Enoch is the oldest book in the bible but it was left out. Why?

Exactly. They weren't even human. Their hybrid genome was corrupted by satan. Why? He was envious of God's plan for man. He wanted his own seed line that could antagonize the coming of the Son of Man. Jesus told the Pharisees that they where a genera of vipers, literally translates to genetic serpents. That their father was a liar and murderer from the start. That can only mean Cain, the first liar and murder in human history, and the spawn of satan with Eve. That's right, Eve got seduced/beguiled by the serpent. Whatever Eve did with satan in the garden, it made her realize she was naked and felt ashamed, hiding from God and resulting in an illegitimate hybrid offspring. God reprimanded all 3 of them for this, and said that the lineage of both seed lines would be at enmity from now on. That's why Eve and Adam got kicked out, because Cain was not Adam's seed and not how God had instructed satan to oversee us. Adam later had a 'child in HIS own image' and that was Able.
That's why I think a shill wrote the Book of Enoch. It sounds great, right up until the end when it denies that the fallen ones generated the Nephilim. I suspect about 90% of that book is accurate, I just don't know which of that other 10% are lies, so it's all unreliable to form solid conclusions on. Interesting read though, which does yield a better understanding of the big picture.
2 Peter 2:5 says, "And spared not the old world, but saved Noah the eighth person, a PREACHER OF RIGHTEOUSNESS, bringing in the flood upon the world of the ungodly." Why did God have Noah preach to the people he knew he was going to destroy. If they were Satan's seed, then whats the point?
Never thought of it like that. If you ever read the apocryphal book of Adam and Eve, it states that the serpent was the most beautiful of all the creatures God made, that all the other animals were dumbfounded by its beauty. But after the fall, God turned it into a snake, but still allowed it to speak. It tried to kill Adam again, so God took its speech as well. I never thought Eve and the serpent might have "done it", LOL, and that could have been the forbidden knowledge.
If what you pruport is the case, who are Cain's descendants today?
This is off topic but I wanted to share it. One of the main issues I always had was if God is love and all powerful why would he allow children to suffer, when I see cripple children it makes me sick, and my first instinct was to blame God, etc.
What I came to understand, I would say God told me, as I just instantly knew, is that these peoples rewards will be SO great in heaven that if you could choose before you were born to be that way and suffer that way, because you knew what your eternal reward would be, everyone would choose to be born that way! How awesome is that.
Because God's a hard master who harvests where He doesn't sow and gathers where He doesn't scatter. He's also an incredibly gracious master, who's not willing that any should perish. He'll save kids that aren't his. Anybody can be saved by adoption, but they must go through Christ who God appointed specifically and formally to our defense/salvation.
The only choice for life is through God. I loved my father and would've died for him, even though i knew his faults. I feel the same about God and don't think you have to be blind or brainwashed to serve God. People can reason how they want and ignore the truth.
The OT was a diferent time but it showed his views and personality, if not he would've changed things. God had rape laws in place. Its plane black and white. He was in favor of rape, as long as his laws were followed. Sorry, no women would want you willingly after you destroyed her family. Deau.21:10-14, Zech. 14:1,2 Judges 21:10-24. Alot of things we would call evil today, God has done in the past. We view slavery as bad, but God approved and had rules about that also.
Jesus didn't come here to promote peace,Matthew 10:34-36, Luke 12:49-53.
First we were given free will that we weren't really suppose to use. There were two trees to tempt humans in the beginning and it wasn't enough so, God allowed us to be tempted even more(because the trees weren't enough)with the devil. The whole theme of the bible is Gods right to rule. Since God is the most high and the creator he's already won.
Most people would save kids that aren't theirs, the diference is that most people wouldn't decide to start killing them in the first place, unlike God. People get happy and say a baby is with God when it dies, while a child with birth defects lives and we're happy about them getting a wonderful reward. The truth is that they get the same reward as the rest of us, they just suffer more.
Free will is a joke. With temptation we all fail at something. If jesus didn't know he was the son of God would he have been faithful?
inarguably (the stats don't lie), the VAST majority of killings (unjustified i might add) in the LAST CENTURY were done by OFFICIALLY ATHEIST (note: not merely secular, but officially atheist) governments
atheists (and in the greatest #'s, communist atheists) have killed far far far more people in this century than theists.
period.
even including islamofascists.
stalin, mao, pol pot, etc.
need i go on
religion doesn't cause intolerance. people are naturally intolerant. we don't need help with that.
but the reality is, that in RECENT (ie last 100 years) history, it has been demonstrably proven that official atheism (and of course "strong" atheism is as much a religion as theism, since it requires a leap of faith and a determination about the undetermined) is more dangerous than theism, or secularism.
Completely Agree! Far more faith. Just as the atheist says prove to me there is a god the christians say prove to me there is no god. I believe there's more evidence based on the things seen that there's a intelligent creator(god) then there is to disprove his existence. Plus... who else is giving us the hope of eternal life?
I think the book of Enoch was left out because it shows where the source of some of our knowledge came from-fallen angels.
. Hes not looking for robots singing his praises non-stop, he wants people to be with him in heaven. He wants to give you every good thing your heart desires. He will even do that for you here on earth if you will let him.
So what are you saying exactly, that God is chickensh!t?
I'm not sure why you think I insinuated that. I think people are the chickens because they don't want to accept all of Gods qualities, just the good ones. I only stated facts that are in the bible, but skipped over. Anyone bother looking those scriptures up? If a persons faith is strong then test it. I imagine most people don't know God at all and just listen to what the preacher says on Sunday. I call myself a christian but not to gain a reward at the end of my life. I learned the diference between right and wrong from the bible as a child. Its the same knowledge and ability to think for myself that i can see God allowing rape and slavery among his people as wrong. I apologize if I offended you. That wasn't my intent. I was just posting facts.
BTW. If I were to call God a chicken I would've used these scriptures in this order...Psalm 91:4 and Matthew 23:37
I'm a former Pastor, Bro! I AM a Christian! There are NO "moral" decisions in juicing. However, The Bible does tell us to "abide by the laws of the land." we have to get this "stuff" illegally. But, if you want to get technical, every time you turn without a blinker, speed, etc, you are breaking the laws of the land.
what about the smoker, then? or, the person who has to depend of prescription drugs to deal with life? breast implants? are they making a "moral" decison? if so, the church is full of them... trust me!~
I think, therefore I am; created in the image of God.Who know man, but there is a reason for everything that happens, for sure.
I think, therefore I am; created in the image of God.
Our bodies are simply temporary temples of the Holy Spirit.
