NO GIRL LIKES A MEATBALL!

You do need an HS Diploma.... And you don't know me personally, i don't act superior to anyone. I'm actually pretty laid back about ****, which is why i'm not freaking out or actually caring about this.

I act confident because without confidence you get nowhere, i can get a bit cocky sometimes but thats always been my personality regardless of the Marines. What i don't do is look down on others for my service to the Marines, i dont like talking about it to my friends, and i don't like people making a big deal out of it. Do i feel like i personally am a better person that what i was before the Marines? yes cause i got values that instilled into me that i didnt have before.

Do some Marines act unreasonably Cocky and superior to others? Sure, so do some Cops, Some Fire Fighters, Some BBers, Some Hackers (Crackers), Some MMA fighters. Why because they are good at what they Do. Is it Right? Not at all. But having Pride in what you do, and letting that define is you is not wrong at all, if its what you love to do.

Per their website:

"Men and women between the ages of 17 and 29 who are working toward, or have earned, a high school diploma may qualify to enlist."

Per.. Having actually enlisted.

You do need it. You CANNOT go to Bootcamp without it, you CANNOT go to Meps without it, or transcripts proving that you will graduate.

Regardless, a HS diploma doesn't mean ****. It's sad that these are the people that we have to represent our country's armed forces.

If that's how you feel about it. I know plenty of Marines, and regular people that are very intelligent. Just can't afford to go to college, a lot of people enlist because of the Montgomery GI bill which will allow them to go to school after their tour in the Military, or allow them to give it to their child so they can go to college.

Can't afford is a crock of ****. I've paid for every dime of my school.

As did I since i didnt get my GI bill, but its a viable option for some people. serve 4 years Active, 4 inactive and get 80,000 for school. Pretty good deal, not to mention you get PT training for free, Gyms out the ass, job training if the military has a job that your interested in. Defensive training, offensive training. You learn how to keep calm is extreme situations.

You get to play with fun toys (Rocket Launchers, Grenade Launchers, Squad Automatic Weapon, M16 A2 rifle which you learn intimately, and other weapons)

:D

Damn... everyone in this thread sounds like some jackasses.

I have met many marines in my time in falluja, and most are humble and strong. Unless you are a master guns, then you get to be a crusty old fart who can smack any one of you around :D

And Rodj, seriously man... what is your deal. I understand the defensive, but blatantly calling marines idiots, and less then the graduate population in the US? What is that all about... the only reason I have my degree is because of the military... A different route than maybe you took, but no less of a person than you are.

Where did I say they were idiots and less than the graduate population?

You just gave an excuse for acting superior to others based on something you can enroll into without having a high school diploma. WTF is that?

Just comes off a bit cocky, and arrogant is all.

Cocky because I don't put any merit into a HS diploma? I won't apologize for thinking that graduating with HS is not an achievement.

Do you know how many kids around the world would kill to have the chance for an HS diploma? How much it would mean to them just to get the chance to earn one?

It's kinda sad that you take something like that for granted, at least you have the opportunity to obtain one.

Stating the point that it is sad that HS grads represent our armed forces. Stating that it only takes a HS to get into the military, then going on to say a HS diploma is a crock of ****. That is pretty damn demeaning to service members. Especially if they are life time service men or women, who do not choose to go on to gain a degree. Your candor speaks volumes is all.

Honestly, how difficult is it to obtain a HS diploma? Exactly...

It's kinda sad to see retarted americans talking **** on our own military. Don't agree with the war decisions, maybe, but to disrespect our military personell? They put their lives on the line for all of us. Remember that.

Back to meatballs. . . I don't know what exactly we all consider meatballs, but im prob around 17% bf and am about to bulk 20lbs. Thats prob able to be considered a meatball for a bb, but i dont care. I def look like i lift, not some fat slob. and do girls like meatballs. Yea, you are way better off with personality, intelligence and sense of humor.

And to those that will insult me bc of the military comments, i know, i have low posts, you are smarter than me, bigger and stronger on the internet, will neg me etc.. i know i know, I just don't give a ****.

First of all, you can go trhough meps and get into the Marines and the Army w/o a HS diploma. However, you have to get a GED or HSE through their programs.

Second, and this one is the important one... Marines get sent to Army schools to be trained.

Last, who can trust anyone who rolls their sleeves up inside out?

You're starting a completely different debate at this point.

Just saying that it should not be meaningless to you. Plenty of people work very hard to earn their HS diploma is all i'm saying, and that it is very important to them. I have a College Degree and i am still very proud that i made it through HS because i know people who didn't.

Your opinions are yours, mine are mine. At this point its best to agree to disagree and move on because neither one of us will change the others mind.

Honestly, how difficult is it to obtain a HS diploma? Exactly...

Regardless, your condescending demeanor of said group of service individuals is disgusting. Would you rather all military men and women be required to incur student loans prior to serving our country? Would that make them a better group of people? Would they be able to serve more effectively if they carry an MBA they will never use if they are lifers?

All those are rhetorical questions as I am stepping out of this thread.

Enjoy your meatballs.

I know people that are in prison; should I be proud that I'm not? You can put value in whatever you want, but, to me, a HS diploma should be very, very low on that list.

Oh, respect for what the military does? Most definately. Respect for putting your life on the line? Of course... Automatically respect a person because of a job title? Absolutely not.

I'm the first to recognize and understand the marine mentality but do not put that on public display and expect it to be tolerated by everyone automatically. Marines acting the way I have seen a couple act in here is fine when dealing with other branches of the military. It's sort of like team rivalry. Doing it to civilians isn't doing much beyond being an *******. You can be proud and even show it in a way to earn respect through your actions.

Rodja- A HS diploma can be very difficult to get for some people. Explaining it to you and giving you multiple examples seems pointless since I know you're smart enough to easily pick a few at random on why getting through HS would prove difficult; not impossible.

I liked this thread when it was driven by an imbecile baiting fat people. Now, not so much. That said, all this business about how any nitwit can get a HS diploma (which is a fact and that there are a few nitwits in the armed services as well) seems to be ignoring the respect due all service men and women. At a minimum you are talking about joining an institution with solid wash out numbers, serving your country for a minimum of 4 years, and possibly getting killed in the process. All the while providing a necessary service to all of us. (Those killer 900 dollar a month paychecks make it all worth it im sure)

It seems that some people with intelligence and respect have arrived and all others have gone back to curling the 30s. feel the burn ladies

x2 - let's get back to bashing that vagina-decliner who started this thread

You sound like a jackass. It's sad to put so much value into something that many less than stellar intellects achieve: the title of a marine.

Agreed. Nobody wants to hear this. I, more than most, am grateful and appreciative of my country and it's defenders who make it possible for us to perpetuate democracy, but its not an impressive feat to join the military, and the demeanor of many soldiers is embarrising... and I know many marines who've been in fights and had their asses kicked easily.

Sooo... I am guessing you washed out of basic training due to being unable to complete the physical and mental abuse? Am I right? You are embarrassing spewing nonsense you know nothing about. I do not condone an obnoxious attitude, military or not. But honestly, I see 10x more respect in my short time being separated from current and past service members. I believe most would disagree with you on it not being an impressive feat. It takes real cajones' to even sign your name in the first place.

No, I was never in such a desperate position in my life to have to sign my name and enlist, but if I did you can bet I'd be able to hang. I may not have much knowledge of military jargon, all of my family is military- my IQ is high enough to succeed academically and prosper. It's just ridiculous that marines (not all of them) have to talk about killing civilians with their hands if they want to. And I live by respect...

JASS was more or less implying that in a life and death situation he could handle himself. He also lives on a base, soo im pretty sure that he isn't talking about civilians.

"my IQ is high enough to succeed academically and prosper." Well we can see your ego is fully intact. Btw you do have to take a test that measures what jobs you will be capable of enlisting into. So score low, your not going into Admin, but there is a job availble if you choose.

If i remember right, there is no draft in effect. Therefore you don't have to enlist, why do you care if someone else does? Why would you demean them for their choice?

Desperate? Academically prosper? My lil bro declined 2 D1 scholarship offers to become a Marine. He graduated 3rd in his high school class of 967. He wanted to mature, grow, gain experience, travel, and serve his country. Served with pride for 8 years, then came home and got his degree in engineering. He was one of the most intelligent guys I've ever known. He died at the age of 32 from a fluke fatal heart arrythmia.

I know some who act like that towards civilians.

"... ego intact"
Yes, very much so.

"Enlist"
Sorry, enroll, whatever. But your'e exactly right- the draft is the only way I'd be over there.

I'm not a controversial person, so I will cease now. Just agreeing that Jass got a little carried away in that initial post and I have to hear that stuff all the time.

Is that a new pic of you?

Umm, no. First of all, you dont know who the hell I am. I'll be the first to say, im a cocky, egotistic alpha male ****. Im a god damn United States Marine. Guess it's been programmed into my brain and mindset that I Am The Best, which I am. Here on base, there are some juicing Navy ****s, who are huge. I still walk into the gym, with my back a bit straighter, chin and head higher, because I know that me, and all the other Marines in there are biggest and most badass.

I dont give two shits what you look like. I give two shits how you carry your self, act, and what you do...

From all my training, I know I could walk into any gym and kill someone if I needed to. I know most of those meat heads wont do ****...Im not a nasty civilian, im a Marine.

Next time you try to even comprehend how the human mind works...Dont bother, because you believe looks tell all...And in life, you failed...

All i have to say to you is... you not gods gift to f**king earth.. i have the up most respect for our military and believe they are the reason for this country... i come from a military family... but one thing my daddy taught me is respect only the ones that deserve it... and you sir have the worst god damn mind set ever... one thing i learned from the military is RESPECT!! RESPECT!! RESPECT!!..... and for a US solider to call a US citizen "nasty"... you are just a sad lonely man who thinks because you are part of the greatest military in the world that you are the best when in reality doesn't mean that you INDIVIDUALLY are worth ****... especially with you mind set... ya you say your a marine.. how bout you start acting like... one....

Pride is one thing...........being a jackass and ******* is totally different. Being a true marine and knowing the difference between arrogance and cockiness, is what makes the man. You can have confidence without being an *******. There my friend is the diffence between a real man and a kid.

this is well put...

Ah, i didnt even read that guys post. I will tell you this, in my time being attatched to various marine units, I have never seen the lack of respect I have seen from Jass whatever. 99% of Marines carry themselves respectfully, and with pride. Not to many Marines/Soldiers/Seaman/Airman have any type of better than though attitude, and it is a disgrace to the uniform I wore, and the uniform any service member has worn. At the end of each decoration awarded the words "You bring great credit to the (Insert Service Here) and the United States." Remember that Jass when you want to be a jackass.

Well, is this worded wrong or are you referring to the 1% that are pompous?

Well, is this worded wrong or are you referring to the 1% that are pompous?

I worded it wrong in my typing faster than thinking. I meant to state that the norm of military members (Past and Present) show much more respect than their civilian counterparts.

statistics report that about 20-25% of people still do not attain a diploma from High school.

High school is not hard but you have to give credit to the kids who didnt wanna be there and stuck it out. For most it may not be hard but for some with learning disabilities and other problems it can be really hard. 20-25% is still a large percentage of people.

I will say that I have the utmost respect for ALL OUR MILITARY. I have been a part time police officer for 17 yrs now. We both do jobs that no one else wants to do. You put your life on the line everyday to do what you do.
I get to train with special forces from Fort Bragg several times a year. Most of these guys are younger, and still learning. We do mock maneuvers and most of the time they get their asses handed to them. It's a ton of fun though. And I get free cases of MRE's!

Honestly, how difficult is it to obtain a HS diploma? Exactly...

regardless, the fact remains these people stood up, raised their right hands, and pledged to defend the country and the Constitution with their lives. devaluing their sacrifices by devaluing their worth is just awful. i dont think any of the Marines here were overly cocky. i'm proud as hell they're on our side.

I don't think that academic difficulty is the reason most people drop out. Is it really that hard to find the solution to 2x-1=9?

I think most people leave because of the often special social atmosphere, family obligations, and, in some sub-cultures, social norms. I'm sure there are people who struggle with basic algebra and sentence structure, but they're few and far between - and this inability is probably rooted in something in their environment or belief system as opposed to them being so abjectly stupid that they can't put a sentence together.

Its around 9% and has been falling steadily since the 1970s. The only group with a dropout rate above 20% is Hispanics, and the language barrier and first generation immigration status is probably playing a role there.

LOL you are ridiculous man! Yeah man, with your training you could walk in and kill an UNTRAINED person, sure...that doesn't mean sh*t to me man, that's like saying I could school you in ice hockey if you've never played...that's not saying anything. I've met far too many cocky ass marines...Wow, you're good at taking orders. I'm not saying I don't respect and appreciate what you all do but being a cocky doucher about it is too much.

I understand what the dude was saying, I know I have a lot of respect for huge guys b/c I know the LEVEL of dedication and work ethic they have. Probably how you want people to respect you for all the same you must achieve in the marines. If you think that's "the dumbest thing you've heard this month" you must not have access to a television, radio, or many other people around you.

Your identity seems heavily based around being a marine. You are a cookie cutter carbon copy of all the other overly cocky dicks.
P.S. I loved reading about all the spanish girls you were gonna hook up with then reading in another thread about your awesome girlfriend, way to go FTW you're such a pimp. You are the alpha male let me worship you and I'll buy ya a pack of gum and show you how to chew it.

Also, HS diploma is a joke, at least where I live. I've gone to school to ASU entirely on academic scholarship, IMO that's an accomplishment but I wouldn't call a HS diploma one. Could also be that AZ's standards are really low and we are one of the worst educated states.

Just because to you its a joke, doesn't mean to others it isn't worth something. Remember that, some people have to work very hard to deal with Life, and HS and to come out on top in those situations with good grades is a very good reason to hold your diploma high and be proud of that achievement. But because you don't care about it you assume its worthless to everyone, or of no use in society.

As i stated before, that diploma is worth A LOT to many kids around the world. You should never devalue education of any kind, it is the single most beneficial thing you can ever have on this planet and what separates us from animals.

yea man lets do it, and while ur doing that ill keep bashing the fact that ur still a 35 yr old virgin who lives in his moms garage with a few dumbells inherited from his grandfather, so now u think ur all hot **** cause u live on AM all day and send neg rep points to 19 yr old kids who actually have a future and are going some were in the BB world. keep sending those neg rep points man, as long as it makes u sleep at night!

AND ALL OF THIS HS DIPLOMA **** NEEDS TO END. IT ALL BOILS DOWN TO IF YOU DONT GET A DIPLOMA OR AT LEAST A GED, YOU ARE GOING NO WERE IN TODAYS SOCIETY. Now lets continue bashing the meatballs who are STILL trying to put up a ridiculous fight even though they know they will never win.

That what I was taught in Consumer Behavior this year, regardless of the race 20-25% still do not have a HS diploma. I did not say HS was hard. Regardless this conversation is not relevant to the topic at hand.
