I honestly have never met anyone who this isn't true for. Without one of those, there would have to be the internal question of "what is my life about, and what is it worth, what will be left when I die", which has to be filled with something. I suppose it could be filled with career, just haven't met anyone who it was and wasn't also using drugs/alcohol

I never really sought out any answers on the matter. I sort of have put myself in a position of just allowing the path to take me where it goes (well, early 20's i did that) Also, for the last 13 years or so, i've been so engaged in taking care of elderly parents until I really have had little time to think about those particulars. I've always been the dry guy at social gatherings, or parties (when I did those types of things)...sort of always been the square in the bunch whom did not partake.
Now that i've lost one parent, I suppose there is a void left there for something, so I decided to do a masters in engineering as soon as Im done with my 2nd bachelors(fitness realm) ... I guess kids are in the making within another 12 months, depends on my wife's choice i suppose.

Dunno, perhaps. I can't say really though. I was in one relationship, at one point, and the girl would not do the sex thing until marriage. I knew I wasn't going to marry her (at least, I did not think i would). I was in that lock down for about 1 year and never had sex, but never filled that void with drugs...I dunno, after a while it just sort of disappears (the urge that is) However, I was also depressed for about 1.5 years also due to multiple deaths and other unusual occurrences that happened during that time, so sex was the last thing on my mind.

Could just be my natural hate towards what my race has become, and the lame excuse for humans most people are and a desire to be different than them. At any rate, at the rate out countries going, there just may be some chances to prove stuff ^.^

However, this is a drastic way to solve a poor gene problem, lol....i would wager that the depression which may set in from learning that their loved ones was killed on a spring break trip may set forth some type of "baby boomer" revolution again...sort of like the economy is doing now.

Everytime I see some 18 year old kid with their pants hanging down below their a$$ and tatoos all over their body (not that tatoos are evil, but they have no idea why people orginally got tatoos and if they knew, most would probably not want them or why people were forced to wear baggy pants-slave era, not prision era) and thinking that basketball is the only way to be successful, I hurt...yet, I can still not just say, burn the race and everything will be peaches and cream. Individuals have to learn for themselves.

I think we have an agreement on these. :wave2: Every race has its own issues and embarrassments. The real issue though is with the species as a whole.

As for good deeds, I never expect em to get anyone to heaven. Teachers say you are not saved by your works. Which means you could give every dime you had away but that wont get you into heaven. Though it may be a trend, its not one the local churches here teach. Its more of a way of showing respect to others.

Every one has a path to follow.

I said the foundations are fine. That being said, I just happen to disagree that water can be changed to wine, that people can walk on water, that people raise from the dead like zombies, that the angel of death came and killed all the babies in egypt except for ones who's parents put blood on their doors.... etc etc etc.

The ten commandments are great rules to follow. I think the majority of Jesus' teachings have good morals to help teach people to live their life by. Do I take it literally? Of course not.

I think that the Bible is a great way to tell an elaborate story to prove a moral point at the end. But at the same time, so are Disney movies.

The fact that Jesus' story follows the Heroic Journey (english class anyone?) makes it seem a lot more like a story and less like history.

So do I think it is an actual account of history? My goodness no.

I have finally gotten to the end of this thread, and unfortunately I read the argument that people were here at the same time as dinosaurs.

I find it amazing that anyone can be talking ish about people's IQ's in this country and then go off and say something like that.

As far as discounting evolution, even if you believe in God, why couldn't he have had a hand in it? Why couldn't the "God created man, from who in turn he created woman" IE Adam and Even in the Garden of Eden... be just a story told by people who could not yet understand evolution or science thereof?

Although maybe its a slight plus in the direction of evolution its not proof. Why are there so many "missing links" between all the species then? Why haven't we found good fossil evidence of clean crossovers from any species to another?

Only 4 friends have ever see me display acts of anger anyways. The thought of death intrigues me, I truly wanna know what it feels like to leave the body. The idea of a civil war in America is like Christmas to me. Sometimes you just need that white light that fills your mind from a fight, from being near death, from barely surviving, or from laying there fading. I have different desires than you do, or could probably care to understand. Corruption, and greed run this country. To be able to personally cease the existence of people responsible for that would be like graduating with a Doctors degree.

Do I go around banging women? No, do I drink and puke my brains out? no, do I do meth, or speed, or acid, or insert drug here? no....I give strangers rides home because I trust God, I gave a guy outside steak n shake who I just met my shirt, because he didnt have one and needed to go somewhere (he was telling a lie I believe, but I have duties). I watch peoples houses and dogs for them. I hold open doors for people everytime. SO tell me how I am failing at this so horribly? Because I am not so peace minded? Driving out to the middle of nowhere to give people jumps, must make me bad too right?

Simply put it would all be fine if I was wearing an army uniform, and talking about terrorists. But since its directed at other issues that break apart our nation such as criminals(I believe drug lords should be executed on spot) I believe with crimes we need tribunals, and no more life sentences, anything over 20 years = execution.

I may be harsh, but I never judge a person for their closeness to God, because I have seen guys slam down liqueur who are closer to God then most people will be.

Well, I suppose it is only a theory, just like everything else. I just see more evidence that supports the idea that the Earth has been here for millions-billions of years, carbon based life began on this planet as simpler organisms and over time adapted and evolved into what we know as life today, which to me makes sense that we share similar genetic makeup with the animals around us, and why such a small part of our genes actually changes us so vastly... That to me makes sense that we are related in some fashion and probably have similar ancestry.

Could a higher being have had a hand in this process? Sure why not. I mean where did matter come from in the first place?... that to me is the biggest hole in science that would prove that there is a God. But do just say that we appeared out of nowhere by the word of this God at some point in time a few thousand years ago doesn't make sense to me.

As far as missing links go... I really don't know. I imagine there have been many fossils yet to be found, and even more than will never be found or simply no longer exist. I mean, how many fossils have we really found? Not that many. But of the fossils that we have found, I think the logical conclusion, at least for me is that primates share similar ancestry, which without drawing this on and on, eventually shares the same ancestry as this entire planet. Just what makes sense to me.

I appreciate the statement. I first believed just like most, for salvation and inherently there was a reciprocation or gratitude love. Then as I grew to know Jesus more intimately and experienced Him working in my life I grew to love Him differently and more deeply.

yeah, I guess so. I think that the alcohol, sex, and drugs, at a young age, I was scared off by seeing older individuals screw themselves out of their lives before they had a chance to live it. Though, abstinence was not a major practice of mine, except for those stints of depression that I hit. Yet, I wasn't running around like a rabbit.

Fortunately for me, yet quite unfortunate for others, I was able to witness some of this craziness and just avoided it.

But, you know what, i spent an unyielding amount of time trying to help others with their problems and eventually a ton of people starting coming to me for "help" and advice. I think for about 10 years, I was the "answer" guy, even though, it was all pretty common sense advice. So, I think that took a large portion of any voids that I had. Dunno, maybe I was lucky, maybe not. If i have any children, i won't have that hard core experience to be able to say "yeah, i know personally what cocaine does to you" but I do have a common sense mind set and knowledge of what it does through studying paths so perhaps this will be enough.

Truthfully, having used before doesnt help either, as you certainly don't want to glamorize it any more than the celebrities already do, and if you want to guarantee your child doing something just tell them that you did it when you were younger, and tell them they can't do it because its bad

That's the truth, but it is kind of a double edged sword. I think honesty would be the best policy... I know that my parents never did drugs, so the fact that they told me not to seemed like they were just full of BS.

At the same time, I could see how "if it didn't kill you, it's ok for me to try" would come up. I think when I have children, when they are old enough, I am just going to tell them the truth, and explain to them how incredibly sh*tty two years of my life were because I was a coke addict. While I won't introduce my kids to herb, I am sure they will be introduced without me. If my kids do (more like when) ever smoke herb I doubt I'll punish them, it would be completely hypocritical. It will at that point depend on their grades and attitude. If you start f*cking up, your privileges go out the window.

I disagree. You might think they are misled, but you can't group religious people into "shallowness". It's actually pretty shallow of you to say that. Religious people could be shallow, but so could atheists. Your logic is like saying "Everyone from the southeast US is a redneck", or "all Asians are bad drivers". Stereotypes don't help us at all.
