I'm running a cycle of epi coming up mid-june and i have my diet done up but wondering if it contains too much protein. The diet is very clean in which protein sources are: egg whites, chicken, tuna, turkey, cottage cheese, & salmon, carb sources are: sweet potato, brown rice, oatmeal, LOTS of fibrous veggies and some fruit, fat sources are: olive oil, fish oil capsules, natural pb, almonds. My macros come out to be 374.5g protein 330g carbs 91g fat per day. Just curious if this is too much protein? BTW I'm 6'2 210lbs and my goal is to get some good lean gains. The diet is a little over maintenance calories as well.

Thanks,

Mike

1 to1-1/2 gram of protein is generally enough. so, 200 to 300 is a decent amount for a guy your size. what are your maintence cals? cause your already at about 3500 cals judging by your macros. you might want the try and get more carbs in there and a little less protein.

Well according to online calculators with my activity and exercise level, its supposedly around 3000-3200.. And yeah the diet I have made up has a daily calorie intake of 3372 (give or take whatever). I'm going to see how that goes and either increase or decrease accordingly.. Thanks for the input.. going to see what i can do to replace protein sources with carbs

your protein intake is excessive if you're natural. considering you're growing at an unnatural rate though, you need that higher protein intake to make muscles quicker.

Being on cycle I disagree, you have a retarded amount of protein sysnthesis going on so may as well take advantage of it.

yep. you're not gaining those natural 1-2 lean pounds in a month, so you need more protein to make that 10 pound lean gain happen.

if he's going natural, eating that much protein is excessive.

Good point.. I never thought about it that way.. Makes sense, thanks!

eh sort of, even then the excess just gets converted to glycogen and used as fuel, not really a big deal. Maybe a waste of $, but if you'd rather have 8oz of grilled shrimp than a cup of rice and the $ doesn't matter, honestly no harm. once you get over 400g a day for average 200lber its iffy on kidneys over long spans of time.

what he said :)

i dont believe so.... you generally are suppose to take 1 1/2 g to 2 grams of protein per lbs of body weight... but i say take it with a grain of salt.... as long as you arent become constipated then you are good, that means that your body is using all the protein you are connsuming, and being on cycle your body will digest most of the protein

well...to be honest i havent been on a cycle for about 3 months and i was real big in2 countin my grams of protein, carbs, calories etc. etc. etc. but you know what after a while when i came off cycle i got busy and said 4get it, im gonna eat what i feel my body needs as far as protein carbs and what not and see what happens....and well.....a couple months later im STILL gettin bigger and stronger.....i sometimes feel regardless of the "studies" that theres a fine line between "enough protein" and " the protein myth" i think ppl spend WAY to much time playin briain games on what to eat and how much protein etc whe the main thing that needs to be considered is how hard ur trainin, not pun intended to the OP just sayin what i generally see around here, but a good example is take a guy who doesnt lift weightz increase his protien 2 large amounts and well....hes NOT goin to grow the growth comes from bustin ur ass in the gym, after that protein and carbs and calories are childs play, with a proper normal diet and a few protein shakes a day should make you grow dont buy in2 the "u need 400 grams a day of protein" becasue honestly thats rediculous adn god knows whos behind these "test's" that say x amount of protein per body pound makes x grow faster....
