Volcom's Optimus PRIME Log

It's more than psychological. The body will adjust to your calorie consumption if you don't punch it in the face once in a while.

I'd say one cheat meal every two weeks, assuming you have routine carb-refeeds. If you don't have refeeds, one cheat meal a week would be fine. I need to start doing this again. I haven't had a cheat meal in a looooong time.

I'm thinking Sushi as my cheat meal.

Cheat meals are not necessity. They are purely for psychological benefit, help so you don't fall off the boat in a big way..
Varying your carb/caloric intake is all that's required to boost metabolism.

Damn!! I'm gonna make me some homemade chili tomorrow!! You'd better believe it!! I've been too strict as well.

Well, now I read this after remarking to Irish's post! I've never gave you one of these snag, but here........:rasp:
I'm still gonna eat that chili!!!

YES!! Lot's of kidney beans..96% lean beef..banana peppers..jalapenos..red onions..Red Gold tomato juice..mmmmmmm :food:

One of my fav carb-ups right there, but definitely not a cheat!

No rasp necessary bro!! :D

That's how I was going to make it......yeah. But no ground turkey. I'm glad to see you like beef as much as I do. BEEF...It's what's for supper!! LOL

I hate tomato juice, sauce, paste, and even tomatoes themselves. I use a small amount just to give it some taste and liquidity. But I really don't like any red sauce. I would starve to death in Italy!!

Beef = the world's #1 most anabolic food source..
Hey for real. And I know that you are aware of this. If I eat only fish and chicken for a long time, I feel lethargic and weak. Dave Draper said he must eat red meat ever so often or he loses lots of strength. You guys....eat that beef!!!
And it really is "what's for supper", I'm having a big steak and a sweet potato here in a few!! YUMM!!!

See, we need to define "cheat" here. I consider a cheat meal anything that's not on my daily diet, not necessarily something that's BAD for you. Like chili, I actually have some of that planned for my cheat tomorrow...

I'm going to have a Kashi pizza, a couple bowls of homemade chili, and a sub-sandwich for a cheat...Really not that bad at all, just not on the daily diet.

sam, a couple questions for you.

1) how are you liking REDuction? hows the stim, appetite suppression, etc etc.

2) are you going to the LA expo this year? my girlfriend and i are going, probably only saturday. it doesnt seem like it will be as good as it was last year.

Bang on! I never used cheat meals during contest prep. I think there is little harm though as long as your not competing or anything. It all depends on how serious you are.

Most definitely. Red Meat is very high in Iron, Zinc, Magnesium, Potassium, Selenium and B Vitamins. All very necessary components to proper energy levels. Never let one of those politicized, skinny-mini, hemp-wearing, biased, pale little vegan twats tell you red meat is unhealthy!

I hate those skinny azzholes. Last summer someone decided to make the company picnic vegan. The skinny twits were trying to push there way of living saying how much healthier they were. I couldn't take it, I proceeded to tell them I was a pure carnivore and that the food they were serving was what food eats. I said I'd put my health up against there's any time. These people don't look healthy to me. They look kind of sick...

If there is one thing I despise, it is individuals who clamor for tolerance yet will only cease when the entire world is politically homogenous - such is the modus operandi of the political vegan. Given the weakness of their physiological argument - that meat consumption overall is unhealthy - it becomes a purely immaterial, psychological/emotional argument; i.e., a lifestyle choice based on your personal opinions on meat production and consumption. I do not and never will walk around with a shirt with a dead cow on it, passing out to vegans pamphlets about meat consumption, clamoring on about how my lifestyle should precede all others. May every one of that type of vegan [do not want to overgeneralize here] choke on a ****.

Righteous political outrage!!

Once again Mullet, very informative. :clap2:
And followed by the much appreciated bit of hilarity!!

How is it that tolerant people can be so intolerable??!!

They had pizza at work the other day, which I normally would avoid... but I was feeling kind of weak and in desparate need of a carb up... So I looked around through the 20+ boxes, and not one slice of pepperoni - or any meat for that matter...

Not exactly vegan, but what good comes of a pizza without any meat on it?

Go f*ck yourselves!!!

Sorta what I said. I repped someone a moment ago and said, "To Hel with those indignant dot-heads. They can go fornicate their mother cows!!" :smite:

All was well until I was invited to my girlfriend's mom's house for dinner. She's an amazing cook and all, but the dinner plan were simple carbs (Spaghetti & regular ground beef). I almost declined on principle of my diet, but I attended. (There was a rape in my girlfriend's apartment this week, so I've been invited there for lots of "family occasions." Apparently the rapist was stalking this lady and knew her daily schedule, so he forced her into her apartment as she stepped outside at 11:00am broad day light, so understandably, everyone is spooked and they enjoy having a "big guy" around). My girlfriend was aware of my current diet & cut, she's very supportive, so when she fixed my plate, she didn't put that much Spaghetti on it, only I had three plates. Her mom is a traditional Spanish mom and cooks like a mofo. Furthermore, as a result of last night's dinner plans, my meals were chopped down to 5, rather then 6. Therefore, I'm considering no carbs today, outside of vegetables.

I'm currently 207.6lbs, in both AM and PM weigh in's.

I was expecting a bit of a strength boost in this mornings workout from last night's meal, but no, quite as I expected, very less-then. OH SHITE, fasted AM workout question. I ate at 7:30pm, plenty o'carbs, does that mean I forfeited the fasted effects this morning? I normally go all protein my last two meals of the day, as prescribed, but last night I definitely had my share of carbs, simpleton carbs no less.

We could form a Carnivorian Nation.

"We get our Amino's from a single source b!tche$"

I feel you on the pasta thing; it often ends up when I go out to dinner with relatives the main dish is often pasta, which I don't eat late at night since I train in the AM. Glad to see she was conscientious of your position, and then you man'd up and did the mother proud I'm sure

On a note about the vegan (Do your thoughts extend to vegetarians too?), I felt I should raise the valid issue of restricting meats/dairy products to help battle cancer. This past summer I read "The China Study", which posed some very convincing studies and arguments about how diet can be manipulated to help improve your chances of avoiding/beating cancer.

Don't stress on the 'cheat' meal Sam. That plan of attack (coming back next day or two w/ very low carbs) is a good one to offset that issue. Undue stress will only raise your cortisol levels bro..
As for the fasted training: no worries. I have usually utilized carbs <12hrs from morning training up until recently, when, to see for myself, I have been running Mullet's noted 12hr format.
The science he has put forth makes sense; that being said, I still feel FT in itself to be effective, irregardless of carb consumption the previous night.

Reduction AM is okay. I can't give it a fair assessment as far as stims goes because I'd already been on stim's awhile before I got started on it, so I couldn't experience it's stim effect with fresh adrenals.

In general, the stim is good, but not fast enough for a morning kick in the @$$ (for my situation, I set my alarm at a certain time, and I have 30min to be out the house and either running on the road or headed to the gym) Instead, I used Phenadrine in the AM and Reduction in the afternoon.

The two seem very similar, only Phenadrine kicks in quicker.

Reduction Appetite suppression, no better or worse then the next brand. It's not ECA, but it seems to suppress as well as my Phenadrine.

Reduction comes with a PM bottle, so that's kind of cool, but again, I can't give it a fair assessment because I was already in a very stim tolerant state when I started on it.

EXPO: I don't think I'm going this year. I went last year mostly because my roommate had a BJJ tournament (where he got waxed), but I'm not 100% certain yet.

Hahaa, well not like a milk cow bro; just keep the complex carbs down, lean on the fibrous and up the protein.

I forgot about your killa cortisol-curbing stack. Shame on me. :nono:

For every animal they don't eat, I eat three.

711 now sells packages of two hard boiled eggs with salt & pepper, how very bodybuilding friendly.

Yeah, I'm an anti cort pimp at the moment. I'm backhanding cort with my finger ring & baby powder for the time being (thanks to Steveo, you and IC)

The one and only reason I have for wanting to visit Texas, is for their legendary steaks. We tell stories of the 64 oz steaks served in Texalia around the camp fire here. I think I really could eat a 64oz steak. The biggest one's I've had are only around 32oz and I can eat that starting off full, literally, I have. Dead full, then eat a 32 oz steak, easy.

when I see 12-16oz fine dinning steaks, I'm like, "yeah, $25 for a chicken nugget, no thanks."
I just had a huge steak with 5 egg whites and 1 whole egg for dinner!!
Eat like a caveman, be strong like a caveman!! :bb3:

Hahaha, steak & eggs are my utmost, favorite combination. You know what made me drool over steak & eggs the first time? That movie Twister, there was a seen where the aunt was cooking steak & eggs for the tornado chasing team and DAMN!!!! It's become an obsession ever since.

Texas. Pfft. And one more time: Pfft. Now, Alberta Beef is legendary.

In Medicine Hat, AB [my hometown] there is this well-established pub-and-eatery that is known for its massive portions. Well, even when I was 155-165 I had an absolutely ridiculous appetite. My friend Legz who was a competitive bodybuilder would get furious that I would out eat him [due in part to Marijuana]. Anyway, he and I went there one time and I ordered the 64oz steak, but a different waitress brought out our order [this was before I began lifting weights]. Of course, the waitress whom brought our orders out took one look at me, one look at Legz, and propped the 64oz directly in front of him. So, right away i say, "Hey, that's my steak!" and proceed to get into a five-minute long discussion with half of the wait staff about my ability to eat the steak. Nobody believed I could eat it, and even the cook came out to challenge me! Anyway, you should have seen the look on these people's faces when I not only ate the whole 64oz steak but Legs' side of fries!

I actually went back there again another time and ate a whole five-person party platter. That is another story, though.

Doing well my friend, thanks for your information on my thread too, its good you have somone who can really support you during the most traumatic stage of a bodybuilders progress, temptation.

Hey Volcom, do you know anything about the NASM certification? Been thinking about doing one of these to work part-time at a NY gym... Not really for money, but for sh*ts and giggles - and in case Wall Street goes (more) belly up.
