Taste, Color and Initial Impressions
The tub is small folks, not gonna lie. But this mix prides itself on the lack of filler ingredients...so who cares right?
The color is a nice milky white. No visible chunks, a little smokey because i shook everything up real good.
I used 2 scoops in 7 oz of water. Mixed extremely well, no chunks on the bottom; very surprised.
I compare the taste to Seven-Up, fizzy, clean maybe even tastes better. This has to be the very best tasting pre-workout powder I have ever used. Hands down. Call me crazy if you wish.
Took 30 Minutes before workout and starting sipping on 48 oz of Water with 5.5 scoops of Apple Xtend immediately after drinking it.
Pre-Workout
Unlike other preworkout products I've used, the energy from jacked came on extremely slow. I really appreciated the amount of beta alanine in this product- just enough to generate a little thermogenesis in the face and neck without causing itchiness all over. The energy was cool and focused, and was brought on very slowly. I could not notice that point when JACKED hit me like you can with other preworkout products, but I knew it was working when I was getting ready to work out. I felt euphoric and started whistling some of my favorite tunes.
One of the greatest things I appreciate about this product is the good mood. Most preworkout products put me in an overly aggressive alpha male state; like I want to throw someone through a wall or punt a cat. Not JACKED. I felt empowered and believed in myself, and I was simply ready to get my sweat on and bring it.
Workout
I've been doing P90x for about three weeks now, and today was the Core Synergistics tape, focusing on legs, back, abs and core. Workout was about 50 minutes long, plus 10 minutes of warmup stretching and cooldown. Within five minutes of the stretching the blood was already pumping strong through my body. No bloat from the creatine monohydrate or headaches. I did have to pee a couple times before hand but that's because I have the bladder of a 64 year old woman.
This is where the product shined. Once the workout kept going, my mentality was focused solely on the present. Normally, as workouts went on, I would think about other crap I had to do that day or what I was going to eat later or how I was going to do this or that or keep going when I was tired. Not today. Everything was simply in the here-and-now. More reps. More weight. Keep the form. Go baby go. That was what went through my head over and over and over. Because of that, I was able to push myself farther than I have ever pushed myself before under this workout program.
Sweat was flying all over the place. Towards the end of the workout Tony Horton offers a bonus round of about 7 minutes of strict ab exercises for those who feel up to it; otherwise you can skip onto the cooldown. I didn't touch the remote and blazed through the extra exercises.
My heart rate was up high, but not to the point where i was jittery. Lots of sweat, and that strong here-and-now positive focus.
POST WORKOUT
My heart rate remained high for about 30 minutes after my workout, which bothered me slightly, but not that big of a deal.
