How about tossing the whey as well and going with a slow-digesting protein blend. I'm using 2 scoops of Dymatize Elite 12-hr + PB (soon to be coconut oil) as my last meal.

I'm with ya.. not convinced the quality of this stuff is all that myself..

IC's premise is good tho. IMO a nice casein-heavy blended mix (with my personal fav for this time frame Ultra Size mixed in as well) is the optimal form a shake should take for the nighttime I.V. protein drip..
 
Something like milk protein isolate is my preference - it's got lots of Casein, for the reasons mentioned above, but some whey as well for a faster nitrogen boost to jump start protein synthesis overnight.

I dig the mid-winter recomp, TG. I'll be doing the same here starting next week!

What flavor did you have? Vanilla was fine to me. The texture is kinda grainy, but other than that I thought it was fine. You aren't gonna get the same "clean" taste as pure whey protein. I like the mixed proteins though, I've been doing the whey/casein flip flop throughout the day, and it's just getting inconvenient and expensive. I'd rather just take a shake out of the day and eat another chicken breast.
 
Irish has the right idea. Micellar Casein and throw in some of the coconut oil and get your grow on.
 
By the way man.. I'm really excited to see how this works for you. I've never done a traditional BB'er cut like you guys - so I'd love to see how this goes down.

I never really get shredded unless I kick back the calories, kill myself on cardio, and cut out carbs past 6 or 7 in the evening.

So far I really like the stuff. Much better than the ON Casein. UGh! That was nothing but a clumpy mess.

ON Casein you really need a shaker for. I actually like their Cookies and Cream... But Chocolate and Vanilla taste like animal barf... I definitely need to expand my slow digest horizons - so your recommendations are appreicated.

ON whey/casein 1 scoop each in a shake is pretty good... kinda gets rid of the casein nastiness.

Man, you need a friggin BLENDER for that stuff! I used a shaker all the time and it never got rid of the clumps. It was terrible.

Sometimes I'd make the shake before I went out with friends or something so I'd have it ready for later. The majority of the time when I went to drink it all the of the protein floated to the top and I was left with chunks of casein and white-water. I kept gagging on the clumps as I drank it. Blech!

ATW Miscellar Casein wasn't too bad, though. Much better than ON in the mixability department.
 
Casein is def. in my preferred mix, but barring that:

1 scoop ON NitroCore 24
1 scoop Beverly Int. Ultra Size
1/2 cup ff cottage cheese

I throw all this in a shaker w/ 14 oz. water, easy as hell (tasty too)..

Do you have a blender bottle with the steel ball inside? That does a PRETTY good job - though a blender always wins that battle.
 
Seriously... get yourself one of those blender bottles. They are like 5 to 8 bucks at VS or :gasp: GNC... Change your life though - they will blend up PB / bananas / any powder...
 
I have brass balls myself. And Snag, I love cottage cheese...I shower in that sh#t.

I should mention, you need to give your shaker a little shake prior to every drink, ensures even distribution. Otherwise, you'll end up with all the cottage cheese at the bottom at end of the drink.

My balls are made of indestructible uru metal. The same metal that my mighy mallet Mjolnir is made of. :hammer:

But I must pass on the cottage cheese! I hate that stuff. But I may give snagency's suggestion a try and see if I can mask that awful taste.

Keep the suggestions coming guys. The casein is a definite add-on. I'll try ON's Cookies and Cream from Timber's suggestion. I like their proteins. They have great quality at an affordable price for us working bodybuilders. :thumbsup:

I'm glad I logged this here in this section. I'm seeing that I will learn lots more about true supplementation now that I'm finally out of the steroids section for once!! :lol:

I'm lovin' this already!! I just know you guys are going to blow my thread up with loads of great information.

Most of my regular readers realize that I work graveyard shifts. So that's why I disappear for lengthy periods of time when everyone else seems to be posting. Plus, as an Avenger, I have to respond to emergency calls!

So you guys will see me posting from 7:00 A.M. to around 1:00 P.M. Then I grab some sleep (6 hours) and get back up around 8:00 P.M. I'll be on here again until 10:P.M. when I have to leave for work. I get in at 5:00 A.M. at which time I take a 2 hour power-nap. Then I wake up and prepare for warfare. :duel::numbered::shoot:

I like ON's cookies and cream whey. That's what I use. But I haven't used anyone's casein up to this point. I'm thinking the trick is to mix the proteins to mask the bad casein taste. :sick:

Or just chug... Thunder dosing is the way to go. When people ask me why im throwing powder in my mouth in the locker room, I say "dude, you've never heard of Thunder-dosing?" then I give them a weird dissaproving look...

Yup, I was mixing 1 scoop diarrhea(ON's vanilla casein) with 1 scoop of ATW cinna-bun and it was ok.

One must have a strong intestinal fortitude when Thunder-dosing. Things like Horny Goat Weed Powder (icariin) and Cordyceps will test your mettle to the max!!
